19. Winds of Change

Caly POV

I couldn't help but feel bad for Andrea.

Having her child taken away to be kept safe.

He was so beautiful. There was still a trace of his power but to have him sleeping in my arms so innocently made me want to return him to his mother.

But the future of us all rested in his adorable fingers.

I was told to protect and watch him until I got word from the elders to return home.

It was said long ago that a leader born in the light of the blood and blue moon shift, would rule the Weres under a single pack, or will be the end of all Weres.

I was fortunate enough to have known his mother. She was so polite and told me about stories from her upbringing. Knowing that he had such a strong mother gave me hope that everything will turn out for the better. Although the stories she told me about the father makes me wonder if she can stand up and do what is right for her child.

That was a tight pickle, but right now I had to head to the one place I knew for sure he would be safe.

Heading in the direction that I needed to go, I ran. Holding little Micheal close to me. If I could still feel his power then I'm sure others will too if they get too close.

I had gotten about half way to my destination when I noticed that I was slowing down, trying so hard to make it past the Were bear territory.

"No. No. No. Creator please let me past." I begged.

Just as soon as I said these words the sunrise broke over the horizon. Dawn was here.

"We need to find somewhere safe little one."

I hurried to the nearest tree line.

"Let's see how far we got." Walking my way to the almost ghost road.

Rawlins?

Humm..

"This is not good little wolf. We are right in between the two Were bear territories."

I was a little hesitant but it was only 16 hours to sunset. I had to wait.

Unfortunately, Micheal had other plans.

He began to cry so loud I'm sure others have heard him already.

"Shhh, ok ok ok. I'll find you something to eat. But for the love of mother you must be quiet." I tried to whisper.

"No need I have some goats milk, if you're interested." I heard an unfamiliar voice.

I tried to shift.

It was no use with the sun awake.

You see, us Skin walkers -or Were yotes as everyone calls us-can only shift during the hue of the moon.

It was something our ancestors were tricked into long ago. Promises made by the sun and moon left us unable to shift in both.

We do not have a separate being living within us like every other Were, for we control the mind even in our animal form. We can choose which animal we want to turn into as long as it is a creature blessed by creator. But we are restricted to the moon.

Most Weres leave us alone because they are frightened of our ability to become what ever we wish but really I think it is because the elders like having this secret to our selves. Because in order to turn into a Were we must first go through a series of tests and ceremonies to prove that we are worthy of becoming an All.

Its a rather lengthy process but I managed to complete my ceremonies just 3 years after coming of age. In our traditions Were Yotes are a blessing as we are born completely human and can only turn if we are blessed by another skin walker and of course the creator. It helps weed out the violent and dangerous ones.

However, if you become violent or dangerous after you turn you are forever tainted, but becomes more powerful. It is more common because now to use our abilities for violent tendencies because our people have turned on one another. Which is why we do not tell what we are to no one, not even each other and family members. I was fortunate enough to have my grandmother teach me to become a skinwalker. She has shown me all that I needed to know to survive outside the territory.

But never was I prepared to get caught .

"Who are you?" I asked to the trees.

"Just a friendly stranger passing by."

By the sound of the voice I knew it was a man. He must not get too close incase he is a shifter, I told myself.

"Thank you, but I need a bottle. He's a new born and He needs fresh milk."

"Is that so?" I heard as a figure emerged from he trees.

He was a skinny looking guy, but I could tell a very fast runner. He had long hair and had it braided down his back.

"Well if you like, my sister just had a baby. So if you want help I'm offering." He smiled and I got the feeling that he wasn't dangerous but still I needed to make sure he understood the situation.

"If you harm the child or myself there will be consequences."

"I'm aware. And I full well know of the curse of skin walkers." He rolled his eyes.

"You know what I am?"

"Yes, can't you tell what I am?" He asked puzzled.

"No, but I can smell where you come from and who has been around you. But not you."

He looked as if he was confused.

"OH, your from the canyons not the flats or the hills!" He smiled and motioned me to come closer.

"I'm LightFeather-or Darin, born into the ShoShone Tribe, brother to HandFire-or Teressa, my mother is Ruby and father Harold" he held out his hand.

I didn't want to shake it because then he would be close enough to feel Micheal's power.

Instead I looked at him puzzled.

"ShoShoni tribe, that means you're a wolf shifter."

He came forward a bit but I stepped backward. I didn't want to just run to the first offer of help. I might be young but I wasn't stupid.

"It's ok. If you don't believe me. But you do need to feed the little one. The Were Bears hunt day and night in shifts. Plus the Yellowstone pack has a rival thing going on with the Thunder Basin pack. And you are smack in the middle of them two. So I suggest you find somewhere to lay low until sunset. But here take the milk, you might be able to find a bottle in town."

Nothing.

I had nothing to say, either he was really good at manipulation or he really was trying to help.

Naw!

"Thank you" was all I said to him.

He set the milk down and stepped back allowing me go forward to pick it up. I looked at him once more and then turned and started walking towards town. At least Micheal seemed to finally start calming down.

It was about another 2 hours to the town of Rawlins, but I managed to come to a gas station first. Thankfully it had a little of everything and I managed to get diapers, wipes and a bottle.

He was finally asleep and I needed to rest for tonight's run.

We went back into the woods and I found a large enough tree that had thick branches and started to climb. There was no way I was going to sleep on the ground where anyone can come across us.

Micheal was nice and cozy inside my light jacket, so when I chose a spot I didn't have to worry about trying to balance myself. I sat there adding broken branches to lay across two thicker branches that were nearly parallel. Adding some leaves to soften the bark against my back I was asleep almost immediately.

"Well if you can do it, why don't you go up and get her then?"

"If I wanted to climb a tree today, I would have dressed like you!"

"You saying I don't have nice clothes?"

"I'm saying you need to try to look nice, since your moms little boy"

I slowly opened my eyes, fully aware that they knew I was up in a tree. I heard yelling then laughing and then rustling of leaves like they were wrestling.

"Just because you are older doesn't mean you need to be an a**"

More laughing.

"OK, Ok, OK. But all I'm saying is when you find your mate you wouldn't want her thinking you're a slob right. So save the rabid look until after you claim her."

"Fair enough. Now back to who is going to climb this tree for the rogue."

"I'm not a rogue." I shouted down.

They finally got quiet.

"Then why are you on our lands, no one told us to expect anyone coming through this way. So you must be a rogue." One of them yelled back.

"I'm leaving tonight, all I needed was some rest and I will be gone when the sunsets. I promise, I just need to pass."I tried to sound brave but Were bears were not know for their level heads.

"Say I let you pass and then other shifters know that I was weak with a lonely traveler. Others might try to cross our lands without asking as well." The taller one chimed looking at the slightly smaller but more handsome one.

"Very disrespectful if you ask me" he said looking up towards me.

They could not see what I looked like but I could see them between the leaves beneath me.

There were only two of them, thankfully.

"I just need to get north, I'm very sorry I didn't notify your pack. I really don't want any trouble."

They were quiet.

Too quiet.

I closed my eyes and sent my aura down to listen. Yes, us skin walkers can do that if we know where or who to send ourselves to.

-"She smells like a shifter, but what I don't get is why she hasn't shifted to run."

"Do you think she's under age?"

-"No, I think there is more to her. There is something not right about a Were who won't shift to save their hide."

"So what wait her out? She said she was going to be gone at sunset."

-"Maybe she is waiting for the cool air to travel it is fu**ing hot today. Heck I would."

"Ok, but she needs to be watched. I don't want to let our guard down and get our people killed"

-"Whatever you say little brother"

"Now what?"

-"Follow my lead."

"You still there?" The older one shouted.

"Of course, I was just waiting for you to finish chatting with your brother." I answered back.

"Well if you are going to be passing through our lands we need to know the name of the pack you are from."

"Just to make sure they are aware you are here, and making it north safely ." The handsome one added.

"They already know of my location."

I wondered if they knew anything about us skin walkers, but I was told to never tell what I am and where I come from. Not all Weres accepted us and more then not we are killed. Which is why we do not tell no one of what we are. We are practically going extinct while other Weres thrive in numbers.

"How do you communicate with your pack?" The older asked again.

"I called them from the gas station."

"Will you come down, we won't hurt you." The younger one tried looking through the trees to search for me.

"What time is it?" I needed to know since I could not tell by the dense branches of the surrounding trees.

"Nearly 5 p.m. Why?" Again trying to search for me in the trees.

"One hour, that is all I ask. Just one hour and I will be gone. Will that be alright?"

I do hope they say yes. I really need to avoid anyone on this trip. And so far I was doing a bad job at that.

"There you are Alpha Carter, Teressa is looking for you. She's over at my place with little Curtis."

That voice. I know that voice from earlier.

Just as I peeked down, sure enough, Darin looked up almost immediately finding my eyes staring back at him.

I looked between them all. One was the alpha, and I'm guessing it was the older, more muscular and fury in his eyes.

"Ahh, I see you have met the little Were" Darin smiled to the Alpha.

"You knew she was here and didn't inform anyone?!" That sounded more like he wanted to rip his head off.

"Well that was why I came looking for you. But seeing as how you already found her then my job is at best pointless." He again smiled to the Alpha.

"You said my mate was at your house. WHY?" The alpha was seething.

"She wants you to bring her the little traveling Were. She told me to tell you -and I quote 'if you don't bring me what I desire, your desire will be met with claws'…here words exactly Alpha."

The younger one laughed and the Alpha rubbed the back of his head.

"Your sister is going to be the death of me you know that right." He chuckled to Darin.

"Yes, but to be fair I did warn you when you got married."

Now they were all laughing.

"So who is she?" The younger one asking pointing up in my direction.

"Not sure, she never told me her name. Or the baby's name."

"She's carrying a little one?" The brothers said in unison.

"Yes. You didn't see the little one with her?" He asked more confused.

They both shook their heads and looked up at me again.

"Please come down. We do not hurt pups, and we will not hurt you as well. I swear on my Alpha title. I will let you pass if you meet with my wife the head Sow of Yellowstone pack." Alpha Carter slightly bowed to the tree I was in.

I really didn't want to be followed and probably hunted by the entire pack, so I really had no choice.

"I have only one condition, that you keep your distance. That is all that I request."

"Agreed." Alpha Carter said almost too quickly.

"Move back so she may get down." Darin motioned for the brothers to give me a little room.

I made my way down with ease. Micheal was still sleeping and all the shouting back and forth didn't wake him at all. Thankfully.

"This way." Darin started walking in front of me with the brothers walking beside him.

"So what is your name?" The younger one asked again.

"Cały. Cały Tso." I can't believe I gave them my real name. My gosh I was failing as a protector left and right.

"I'm Alpha Carter, this is my younger brother David and this scrap is like my general of my pack. His name is Darin, he helps with my warriors and Were rogues. He is also brother to my wife, who is Teressa. You will also meet my son Curtis. But don't expect a conversation with him. He's 4 months old."

"But he's a strong one already so watch it or you might loose a finger." Darin chuckled.

I stayed quiet. I had nothing to say and the faster I meet this Teressa the faster I can be on my way.

They chatted about their each other and started giving bits of adventures they were on together. But I stayed quiet. We were walking for a bit when Micheal woke up crying.

They all turned and stared at me.

"Sounds like someone is hungry." Alpha Carter looked at little Micheal as I lifted him from my jacket.

I pulled what little milk I had left and put it in the bottle for him.

He latched on and wouldn't let go.

"Definitely hungry. We are almost there, buy that time I'm guessing he's going to need a diaper change as well."

"I did pick up some at the gas station, so I will change him when he needs it."

Wow. That came out a little more harsh than I wanted.

"Just offering again. We are here." Darin said lifting his arms to present the small but cozy looking cabin in front of us.

Just as we started walking forward a female holding a bouncy baby came off the front porch.

"It's about time!" She shouted over the baby's little giggles.

When she saw me walking behind the guys she came forward immediately. She seemed focused and so did her baby.

The closer she came the more she stared at Micheal.

"Good evening there little wolf." She cooed at Micheal.

"Micheal, his name is Micheal." I smiled at her. For some reason I knew I could trust her. So I got closer to her almost within arms reach.

But what Micheal did next shocked the both of us.

He turned, faced the baby Teressa was holding and howled.

The baby howled back and soon they stared at each other both trying to sniff the others scent.

Never had I seen a new borns act like this.

Teressa smiled. Then she was giggling.

"Have you ever witnessed anything more pure and natural." She wasn't talking to anyone in particular.

"Its as if they claim to be from the same pack." I answered her back.

"So it's true then. This baby is indeed from the blood and blue moon eclipse."

All three guys looked at me and then to Micheal.

I stepped back.

I was unsure what they were going to do but I needed to be ready.

"No one will harm you. I swear it. You and this child must be protected. He is the future of all of us." Teressa came to me and gave me a reassuring smile.

"I can not fail him. He is my responsibility and I must get him somewhere safe. I just wanted to pass through your territory. I didn't know I needed prior approval. I'm sorry but we can not stay."

I was hoping she would understand what I was saying.

"I know." Was all she said to me.

I looked at her puzzled.

"Come. Have dinner and let me tell you what I know. Then you can be on your way with my packs blessing."

I didn't question her. Even if I wanted to her husband the Alpha was still behind me and it wasn't sundown yet.

I just nodded and followed her to the cabin.

I put Micheal on the floor as the guys went around grabbing food. I wanted to help but I didn't want to let Micheal out of my sight.

They guys had grilled us some chicken and made a few sides, but it wasn't until we were all sitting down watching the two babies interact on the floor that Teressa finally started talking again.

"He truly is blessed. My son is definitely drawn to him." She looked sad.

"You knew of his birth?" I asked her hoping to get her started on the story.

"Yes. It was the night before I gave birth. I had been restless that day and when night came I fell into a sleep that I could not wake from. Not that I wanted to."

She smiled and looked at her husband.

"I was no where, but I felt home. I was walking around trying to make sense as to why I couldn't wake myself up. Then that was when I saw a Being. I could not see their face but they looked like the night sky from the waist up and like land from the waist down. When I asked what they wanted from me they did not answer. I wanted to panic but then they came closer, and I felt peace. Like I belonged with them. That was when I heard a sound coming from the Being. Almost like a whistle, turned into a howl and to the most angelic voice I've heard."

Taking a drink of water, I turned to check on Micheal once again. He was almost 24 hours old and he was smiling and giggling to baby Curtis.

"It was Creator. Who came to me in my dream. They told me that the son I carried had a very important future to the Alpha of all Alphas. A child born from the blood and Blue moon eclipse will need my unborn son just as my son will need him."

I looked at her. Micheal and this baby have a common destiny and a future to fulfill.

"How do you know it wasn't just a dream. Your subconscious telling you what you wanted to hear." I asked a bit skeptical .

"Because Carter and I wanted the gender to be a surprise. I didn't know I was having a son. And Creator told me, ' Teressa, you have a great future ahead of you if you choose. Your son will be right hand to the most powerful Alpha, but first, you will need to save Caly and keep her safe for she holds your unborn sons future.' I didn't ask why, or question the Creator. I just told them I will wait for you and make sure you had the support of my pack."

She reached out to me grabbing one of my hands and giving it a squeeze.

"I was told to wait for the Blood and Blue moon eclipse and Caly would come to me. When my brother told me he ran into a female carrying a new born baby I needed to get you to me. I have waited for months to tell you that you are safe here. You and baby Micheal will always be welcomed here. What ever you need, we will help little Micheal if you need us too."

I smiled.

He was truly blessed by the Creator. Creator already knew to guide me this way and to make sure to make me settle here on this territory. They sure did work in mysterious ways.

"I believe you. Micheal is indeed special. I'm his protector until he releases me. But knowing that Creator has sent him a best friend a few hours after his birth-it's like a break for him. He needs all the help he can get. We were warned by Mother that he will be hunted and killed by those that seek his power. I can not allow anyone to get too close to him"

"Why?" Darin asked.

"Because of his power. His aura is strong. Elder mother from my pack striped him of his wolf power but it is still strong. There is a hint of it left and the closer any Were gets they can feel his Alpha power radiate off him."

I told them.

Soon Alpha Carter stood up and headed toward Micheal. I quickly jumped up from my seat.

"You can't. Alpha I'm sorry but no one is allowed near him until his power is returned to him."

But it was already too late. He was already close enough to feel Micheal. Micheal must have sensed him as well, he was no longer laughing but looking in the direction of the Alpha.

"Such a tiny one, and to hold such power. He is indeed Alpha of us all. I need some of his power. If we had his power we could take over the Thunder Basin pack. We need to use his power so that our pack survives." The Alpha was already being effected.

I quickly went in front of Micheal.

"You will not lay a finger on the pup." I growled. I had never needed to growl before but it was deep enough to shake the cabin floors.

"Caly, he will not hurt him. Will you my love!" She was getting angry at her husband.

This was going to be a messy situation.

"You have to admit his power will save us all. Maybe your elders can transfer his power to me until he becomes of age. I'll give it right back."

So it was true. Those who are not pure of heart will start acting feral. To return to their animal form and forever unable to shift back, loosing their humanity.

I needed to get Micheal away from him.

"I need to leave." I stepped backwards to pick up Micheal but then the Alpha growled.

"You will leave but the child stays with us." He was ready to attack me.

I quickly looked to Teressa, she looked a little frightened and sad.

But still she hurried to his side trying to calm him down.

"Darin!" She yelled to her brother.

I thought he was going to help her but instead he ran to my side.

"Grab Micheal and stay as close as you can to me." He said getting in front of me.

David, the Alphas brother, grabbed the Alpha by the torso and tried to hold him back.

"You have to go now!" He yelled and right when I took hold of Micheal baby Curtis started screaming.

"I'm sorry little one, but he has to come with me for now. Stay safe." I cooed to baby Curtis.

"Lets get out of here." Darin grabbed my arm and headed toward the door.

We ran out the front door and barely made it to the front yard when we heard crashing coming form inside the cabin.

"We need to shift now!" Darin yelled at me.

"I can't shift."

He looked at me like I was crazy.

I heard screams and then a very loud growl, it sounded just like a bear.

Sure enough, crashing through the front door was the largest bear I had seen.

The Alpha!

He saw us and started in our direction.

"Go! I'll try to hold him off."

Next thing I knew Darin shifted into a wolf. Not a Werewolf but more like a regular sized timber wolf.

He had grey fur and a black strip going from the top of his head to the tip of his tail.

He turned and snapped at me, I knew he wanted me to leave him behind, so I did.

I turned and started running as fast as I could possibly go.

I looked to the horizon, the sun was still there, but it had already begun to descend.

'Just a few more minutes and we will out run him' I thought to myself.

Right when I though I had a good enough lead I heard the growling of a bear right on my heels.

Just as I turned, I ducked. The Alpha nearly took my head off. But he missed and was now in my way.

A wolf then appeared at my side. Shifting, Darin was there in human form once again but he was weak. He was also injured, he had a large gash on his thigh and claw marks on his shoulder.

That was when I felt the hue of the moon. The sun had officially set.

My turn.

I turned to grab hold of Darin's hand.

"What ever you do, don't let go." I told him.

He gave a slight nod, but Alpha Carter charged at us.

He was inches away from having baby Micheal in his jaw when we vanished.

I was running, holding onto Micheal and now Darin. I felt the cool air whipping by. Within minutes we left the Yellowstone territory and we were again on our way towards Canada.

"HOLY S**T!" Darin was freaking out.

He looked at me and I gave him a small smile.

"How are you doing this?" He asked holding on to my hand a little tighter.

Running in my skin walker form was so much easier.

I did not need to shift into my Were form but rather just used my abilities to turn my whole body into my Astral form. It's sort of like I became fog or a ghost. No one can see me unless I start slowing down. It was nearly 3 am when we got to the outskirts of the territory that I needed to get Micheal too.

I didn't want to have to turn up in the middle of the night with a child so I decided to wait until the next day. It was a good thing that I stopped because Darin was on the verge of passing out. I guess Vape form is not for everyone.

I found a motel just on the outer area of the pack territory.

I'll go in the morning.

Right now Darin was seconds from passing out and Micheal needed a bath, so did I.

I had barely gotten us all in the room when I heard-

"Do you think my sister is alive?" Darin was sitting in one of the chairs, his head hung low.

Without thinking I took hold of his hand and he just looked at me.

"Caly? CALY!"

Must he always freak out.

Using his connection to his sister, I sent my aura form back to her.

I saw her walking around holding her son who was still crying. By the look of it she was crying as well.

"I see her. She's alright, she's worried though. The Alpha has not returned from the forest yet, but he is near by." I told Darin.

"Does she look injured? Is Curtis alright?"

"Yes they are both fine. Would you like me to deliver a message for you?" I asked Darin.

"Tell her we are safe and we made it off the territory, but we can not tell her where we're at just yet."

'Teressa!" I whispered to her.

She looked frightened. She was turning looking in every direction.

'Teressa, It's Caly. I have Darin with me. He wanted to let you know that he is alright and he is so relieved that you and Curtis are unharmed.'

She smiled and tears started coming down her face.

"I'm so sorry Caly. I never thought he would harm a baby. I feel like a failure. I wasn't able to keep my promise to you or baby Michael."

How do I tell her it wasn't her fault.

How do I tell someone that their husband is secretly a bad person and that is why he was effected by Micheals power.

'You didn't fail us. You kept your word and helped me get Micheal to safety. Even taking on your mate to protect him. You kept your word, and I am forever grateful for that.'

"Curtis hasn't stopped crying since you and Micheal left. I'm afraid he might be getting sick."

'He's ok, I assure you. It's a bond between them. They connected and now Curtis wants his Alpha back. But give it a few hours and he will be ok. How's the Alpha?'

I tried not to sound too worried but I guess it must have came out through my voice.

"He has not returned, we see him walking the woods but he is still hasn't shifted back into his human form. Will he be alright?"

I didn't want to lie to her. I don't know how much she can process right now but I needed her to know everything will be alright.

'I'm not sure if he will ever become human again. He has betrayed his own oath on his title of alpha. Creator will punish him somehow, I just don't know how.'

It wasn't a complete lie, he would be punish. But I was just glad she was alright.

"Whatever happens, he will have to accept responsibility. He has no one to blame but himself. I just wish I could have done more. I'm so glad you are safe. Please let me know how you are doing everyday. I just worry for my brother. And please tell little Micheal his friend misses him."

I smiled.

'We will contact you everyday an hour after sunset. I promise to keep your brother safe.'

Darin gave my hand a small squeeze and then I ended the connection.

"You know I can help take care of you and Micheal. You don't need to worry about me, I'm tougher than I look." He tried to sit himself upright but fell forward passing out.

"Yes, I can see that. For now you need rest."

I laid him on one of the beds and on the other made a small bassinet for Michael.

He was hungry again. I had managed to fill up his bottle at the cabin so he had milk for a day.

But first he needed a bath.

He was so alert, looking everywhere, trying to grab everything that came his way.

"If I didn't know any better I'd say you can see clearly and already have your wolf abilities ."

He smiled and babbled.

"Well. If you do, you must tell me which jammies you want to wear to bed tonight." Holding up a pair of onesies to him. He never picked one so I put him in the red one saying 'Mega Up' with a shark on the back.

"And now for your dinner."

He wasted no time and tried to take hold of the bottle.

After a much needed shower I laid down by Micheal and I was out.

"Wake. Wake now Caly."

I slowly opened my eyes and there in the dark was Elder Mother.

Immediately I sati up.

"Mother. Is everything alright?"

"Yes, but I don't have long. Dawn approaches. Andrea left early yesterday morning. We need you to find her fast. She needs to help the father of the child stay alive. If his dies then you must bring the child back to us so that he does not jeopardize our future."

"Yes. I am currently at the Blood Rain territory."

"Seek out Denise. She is daughter to the Beta of that pack and she is there at this moment."

Denise?

I remember her, form the stories that Andrea was telling me. But why her and why now.

"Denise, but I thought I was to deliver the baby to.."

"Change of plans. Take him to Denise and tell her you are from the Echo Blood pack and nothing more. Tell her the childs father is in danger and the mother is on her way to save him. That is all. Remember that Andrea is not to approach the Micheal until after we give the ok. If she does the child must be taken without anyone knowing."

This wasn't the plan. But I can not go against Mother and the upcoming prophecy.

"Caly?"

Darin was awake.

"Who is that with you?" Mother was looking around and saw Darin standing over me watching me.

"A friend. He helped get me and Micheal to the territory."

I had hoped that wasn't a problem.

"You must not let him get too close to Micheal. There will be severe consequences for any who approach."

He had been near Micheal for over 10 hours. He has not been effected in anyway. I didn't know what that meant but I knew he was good.

"I understand. But when I was passing through the Were Bear territory I found another child who has a future tie to Micheal. Is that possible?"

"I must go, dawn is seconds away. For now just get him to Denise and watch him."

And just like that she was gone.

I looked up to see a confused Darin.

"Dawn is here I must get to the Blood Rain pack. That is the only place that Micheal will be safe."

I stood up and started getting him ready to leave.

"I'll come with you." He said putting his shoes on.

"You can't. I must go alone. They will not harm me and I know who to ask for."

He looked concerned.

"I'll follow as long as I can, but I'm not leaving until I know you both are safe. Alright."

"Ok"

I got to the gates of Blood Rain, figuring that if I tried to sneak onto the grounds they might think I'm hostile.

Immediately I was surrounded and I looked back to see Darin worried from the tree lines.

"I'm here to see Denise. I'm from Echo Blood and it is very important that I speak with her."

The 4 guards looked between each other and I could tell they were mind linking someone.

I waited for 10minutes when a man suddenly approached from the road ahead.

"I'm Beta Aaron. I understand you need to see my daughter. I must ask why."

He tried to intimidate me and I needed to come up with something fast.

"Yes. My name is Caly, formerly of Blood hunter. I was told our Gamma female was here and that she would help those of the Echo Blood pack. I need to speak to her but I can not stay, I have to get back before someone notices that I'm missing."

He looked at me shocked.

"You are to be under guard every step of the way."

"I have no objection to that."

Thankfully that allowed him to lead me to the side of the house. At first I thought he didn't believe me, but then he stopped.

"You are to wait here until I say. You got that!"

He was really trying to intimidate me. But he didn't know that I was not effected. Us skin walkers had no alpha which allows us to have a sort of shield against other Were Alphas.

"Hey firecracker, there is someone here to see you. She said she's from Echo Blood" He was a bit far away but I could still make out what he was saying.

"What is the name of the female?" The female said looking around.

"I believe her name is Caly." He said taking a few more steps to her.

"Ok I'll go meet with her"

She started to make her way to the house.

That was when she saw me. She looked a bit confused, until she saw Micheal.

I couldn't help what I did. It was like I knew her from the stories Andrea had told me, and I just hugged her. Like a friend who hadn't seen her best friend in ages.

"It's ok Caly, you're safe here" She hugged me back.

"I must return, I can not stay."

I turned to see the 4 men still behind me, waiting for me to attack Denise. I had to get straight to the point.

"I came to deliver him to you" I told her putting Micheal in her arms.

"What am I suppose to do with him?"

She searched my face for answers but I just glanced at the men. She must have picked up on my uneasiness.

"Come walk with me, please. Lets have something to eat and you can tell me what is happening at Echo Blood"

Thank goodness. I thought to myself

"Yes of course Nessi" Hopefully saying her nickname will make the men ease up.

She started walking away form the house toward another building, and I followed her.

"Who's baby is this?"

I could not tell her out right but I hoped that she would be able to guess. Elder mother would be furious if she knew what I was doing.

"A friend. She once told me that you were the only person in this entire world she would trust with her life and her baby"

Nessi started to shed silent tears. I knew she knew who I was talking about.

Watching her hug Micheal almost made me cry. She misses her friend just as baby Curtis missed Micheal when we left.

"She's ok? Alive?

All I did was nod.

"Yes, she is on her way to the babys father. To help him. He's in grave danger and the fate of this child depends on whether she will successfully reach him before his death"

She glared at my remark.

"She is going to save that A**H***!" Slightly upset and trying not to shout to loud she looked like she was ready to go to war. She is indeed a great friend to worry for Andrea.

"She must, for the sake of her child, she said for her child there wasn't much of a choice."

"I need to help her, I have to go to her" She turned like she was ready to shift and run off.

I had to stop her, to keep her put to watch over Micheal. So I got in front of her to try and reason with her.

"You can't not leave this child with anyone else" I begged.

"Dont worry, he will be looked after here. Some members from Blood Hunter pack are here. He will be safe I promise you"

Must all werewolves be so determined. It's like telling a bird not to fly but walk everywhere.

"If anyone were to find out who his mother is, his life will be taken. He needs your protection to prove that his mother and father are Alphas and should his mother not survive, he is heir to both packs" I whispered.

I couldn't help but see her internal battle with herself. As if she was torn in two.

"Ok, I will watch after him myself. No one will know, until he is of age or until I hear from Echo Blood. I Promise"

"I must return now"

I wanted to stay longer but I needed to get moving. I had done the first part of my duty. Now I needed to watch from afar. He has to stay protected at all costs and I will stay nearby to check on him every chance I get.

'Baby Micheal, your mother and father will return. Be safe and know your enemies. Do not let anyone know your power. It is not safe.' I wished he could hear me.

I turned to look at him one last time, watching him look around at the sky and nearby birds.

"His name by the way, is Micheal."

Then I ran as quietly and fast as I could.

"Micheal, thats perfect."

That was the last thing I heard her say.

'I'll be back little one. I promise you that.'
