Kali entered Konrad's office wearing light blue longsleeves and a turtleneck dress. There are minimal frills and a nicely tied ribbon at her back. It gives a simple and airy feeling. Her black hair is braided losely in one side with blue flower ornaments and tied with the same blue color ribbon.

"Your Grace." She lowered her body slightly, and bent her neck and lowered her gaze. Her right foot was placed behind the other as she showed her curtsy.

" You've improved."

"Thank you for your kind words."

"Be at ease."

"Haaaaaa. this is so hard." She complained in a low voice.

Jack, a blonde guy with brown eyes and square glasses, standing beside Konrad raised an eyebrow on Kali's different attitudes.

"Oh. . Hi, Greetings. . . I am Kaleena Alexanders, you can call me Kali. May you give me the honor to know your name?" Kali smiled at Jack as she reverted back to a graceful lady but her manners didn't match with her words.

Jack missed his chance to respond to Kali's charming introduction. Her blue eyes shone as she smiled at him. It made his heart skip a beat.

*Thud*

"Where did you learn to speak like that?" Count dropped his pen and ink splattered on his desk.

"I read it in a book. Was it good? " Kali is feeling proud.

"What kind of book did you read?"

"Tami and Rissa said It's a popular novel."

"Tami and Rissa, your maids? What kind of novel is that?"

"It's about noble life. I learned a lot of things. It was fun reading it. I still have 2 Volumes left."

"What is the title?" The Count controls his temper.

"hmm. . . A noble wife's affair."

The temperature dropped down in the room. Kali who is clueless gulps in sudden change of mood.

"What is wrong . . . father?"

"Kali, This is Jack Randall. He is one of my aides. For the past months he was in the capital overseeing our business. Show him all the books you've been reading. I am curious."

"Yes, your grace" she was compelled to answer quickly and Jack put his hand in chest and bowed politely to Kali.

"It is nice meeting the Young Master Kali."

"Nice meeting you Jack. Let's see each other more often."

Jack tensed up.

"Kali, show all the books. . . all of it "

"Yes. . ."

"Now Kali, Do you have anything to confess?" Konrad said in a straight face. Kali knew it. There is no point in denying so she decided to get it over with.

"I rather go to war or in monster territories and be sure to emerge victorious and give you glory and fame. " She said with all seriousness

Konrad looks at poker face Kali. If he didn't know better it was her usual face.

'She is trying so hard.' Konrad covers his mouth to hide his smile.

"You know there's no way out of this. "

"I tried but there's no way I can't do it. I can't dance nor can't paint or do embroidery. It's no good."

Kali underestimated the social classes she needed to learn. She enjoyed learning history, geography and war classes, she can tolerate mathematics, business and economics then here comes arts, dance, music and embroidery. She would rather swing her sword all day than sit in any art classes.

Lately she found herself running away from her art teachers since she is not allowed to kill them. Eventually Konrad summoned her.

"Those are basic educations."

"Do brothers also learn embroidery?"

"Of course not. Those lessons are for girls."

"Then I refuse lessons my brother didn't take. I am also a young master. . . father. Please don't forget." Kali's voice was strained as she tried to choose her words because Jack was there with them.

'I am not the Young Lady of this family.' She wanted to add but hold it in.

"Very well. I remember, Kali but in return you will pass all your lessons within two months"

'2 months?'

"I understand, your grace. Thank you."

Konrad opened his drawer. He is holding a pale yellow envelope and giving it to Kali. Kali stood up and reached for it. There is a red distinguished insignia stamp on it. The Fleur de lis insignia.

"The Royal Family?" She questioned .

"That is an invitation to the debutante ball."

"At the Imperial Palace?"

"Yes."

"Am I participating as a debutante?"

"Yes."

"Ball means dancing and socializing. If I am a debutante then I can't. . .I need . . . mandatory dancing?" She asked in resignation.

"Yes."

She cursed internally but it's almost audible when she mouthed the curse and crumpled her face and mumbled some small words at the side.

"You have two months to prepare. Now, go back to your lessons."

'Ah. I have two months.' She swallowed a sigh before she returned to her noble lady self. She curtsy like she was not cursing just awhile ago.

"Yes, your grace. I will be going now. I will work hard not to disappoint you."

Jack's eyebrow raised slightly at the 360 degree change of attitude of Kali. She walked with dignity out of the room.

"Jack."

"Your Grace."

"Burn all those vulgars books."

"Yes, Your Grace."

That night when Kali was walking leisurely in the corridors she saw smoke outside.

'Fire? Are they burning something?' She wondered but she didn't pay too much attention.

Kali finished taking her final exam in history and passed it with flying colors. One and half months didn't pass quickly for her but she passed every class she had. Well, her art classes are barely passing and her teachers don't know how to teach her anymore. She opened her bedroom door when.

Kali didn't participate in this month's venture because of her failed art classes. The count forbade her to venture since she can't afford to miss her class.

For the past months she tried many methods to gain information about the countess.

"The former countess? . . . hmm I heard she was a foreigner from a distant land."

"Some say she is from a fallen noble family."

"Don't say I said this to you okay? I heard she was a former slave. "

Kali heard different kinds of rumors from the servants and town gossip. There was no record of her past in books or archives in the library. She asks the Old servants and knights, like Hoston, Yurik and Vico all they say is.

"The Countess was an orphan commoner."

While Konrad said "It is better if you seek the truth yourself rather than hear it from a man who used to hunt your kind right?"

When Konrad said that Kali had a goosebump.

'He is not some psychic or something right? How could he be right all the time?'

*sigh*

Kali let out a heavy sigh and stared at her quest board again.

'My only clue is that she entered a deal with the Millano royal family. The capital might hold some answers."
