It took six hours to finalize the operating plan at Nubl. Define the main path that we will pass, along with alternative paths. Daniel had to call the Pollux clan to ask for help with Russian satellite imagery in Syria. It was not difficult because Russia was involved in a conflict of interest in the Syrian war and opposed the US.
We set out at almost dusk to take advantage of the darkness to sneak up on the tight blockade of dusty and broken roads in Syria. Three large buses bearing the emblem of the international red cross are prepared, although we will try to keep them entirely out of sight. Twenty-five team members, four three-star commander-level people, were accompanying them. Neil Lambert is an experienced military commander, and his team is leading the mission this time.
Our first four-hour journey encountered no significant obstacles, and we had already traveled more than half of the journey by the time the clock struck nine o'clock in the evening.
From Tartus, we took a detour south through Hama, continued on the alternative north of Rahjan and straight south through Khanasar and Safira, areas still controlled by the Syrian government and would then be careful to circle Allepo from the west to Nubl. The barren roads were full of desert dust that kept us from walking fast in the night.
Khanasar and Safira are relatively safe, but travel after the city of Safira requires extra careful supervision. Vortex will be used when pressed, and we have to save energy because we need to open a giant vortex the size of a bus on the way back to Tartus and a vortex that big has to use the power of two attacking magicians who control the moving vortex. There are only precisely four people who can open the vortex in this team.
We stopped to check the path ahead. The two legions used dissipating spells and would fly along the route we were on ahead.
Five hours after passing Safira, ten at night. We decided to rest for an hour. After this, we have to try to penetrate Allepo. A lot of energy will be spent on the dissipating spell, keeping our party invisible.
"Miss Alexa, a call for you," a legion handed over the satellite phone.
"Alexa," it is Daniel's voice.
"Alexander called from Brussels, and he urged me to put him in touch with you. One more thing, he sounded a little upset."
I sighed, Mr. Martin, why he should tell Alexander now. This won't be very pleasant.
"All right, put him in touch."
I heard a transitional voice
"Alexa!" Alexander's voice was high. I expected it. Of course, he got angry. I left his house without telling him and defied the dangers in the conflict area. Of course, he went on a rampage now.
"What is it, Alex? I can handle this. You don't have to be mad at me." I tried to cut his anger out.
"You know, you are the most desperate woman I have ever known. You're crazy going through the dangers in Allepo alone! Without my consent! You are under my responsibility! If anything happens, I will be blamed! What's in your brain! Come back now! !"
I had to move the speaker of the phone away as he shouted out loud, commanding. He's irate! I grin with satisfaction at the thought of him going back and forth somewhere grumpy without being able to do anything. Somehow this feels so good. Now I smile broadly. Soon it looks like I'll be laughing. I enjoy being able to anger him.
As if I could get a little revenge for his treatment yesterday, even though I never meant it that way. I did it purely to save trapped children and volunteers.
"Alexa, do you hear me?!"
I'm giggling silently now. It looks like I'm a little mentally ill. I now dare to play with the anger of an Alexander Ostrander. Ohhh, I'm scared! But my grin widened.
"Okay, you're done, Alexander. I have to leave in a moment. Don't worry, and we can handle this. We'll be close to Allepo soon. I'll hang up."
"You heard me, Alexa Aegis if you dare to move from your place without waiting for my relief team. You will pay for it! I'll be arriving at London headquarters in an hour and a half, and you have to open the vortex to London and let my team handle it. You have to go back to London."
Now he's giving me orders to wait for him. And, of course, I have no intention of not wanting to obey his words at all.
"You listen to me, Alexander Ostrander. I can solve this without your help! And you need to know, my strength is needed to open a large vortex to Tartus for those 200 people, and with or without you, I can handle this myself, you're clear! I'm not a person. Which you can threaten arbitrarily! And one more thing, if you scold Mr. Martin, remember he did it for the safety of his son. You know he has nothing wrong but to protect his son. If you fire him, I will cause trouble with you!"
I stopped and am now feeling satisfied with my words.
" I have to go now!"
I switched off the phone unilaterally and was lazy to hear any further confrontations. Alexander must be annoyed that I hung up on his call. I have to stop myself from smiling broadly now. Commander Neil was getting ready to signal for departure.
Our team has to cover another 80 km. This area is getting prone. Neil has ordered two observers to fly ahead of the path that we are going to pass ahead. Meanwhile, the entire group's appearance will be removed with a vanishing spell. The six people took turns using their energy spells on top of the three buses to keep us out of sight. As we approach Allepo, the sound of gunfire and mortars can be heard cutting through the night sky. Meanwhile, along the road, destroyed buildings and uninhabited houses are a sight that we continue to see. War never brings good.
