A girl with half of her hair tied up by a white ribbon, wore simple light green robes and had a striking appearance as she looked around the bustling kitchen with indifferent eyes. She simply observed the cooks for a moment before she left, ready to sit down on the first floor to enjoy the food from her family restaurant, Eternal Dishes, and observe their customers.
"Hey! I want to eat the roasted duck right now!"
"We don't have any more, dear customer."
The girl frowned when she heard the yell and walked hurriedly towards the seating area, where the situation was quickly worsening.
Crash!
"Please don't disturb our customers," the girl said, staring down coldly at the drunken old man who she flipped over. She turned around. "Guards, come and take this old man!"
"Watch out!" someone yelled.
Crash!
She turned around with round eyes and saw a young man with a domineering aura, standing in front of her after pushing the old man down. He turned around and stared at her as if he didn't expect to see her and she stared back.
She observed his gray clothes that were obviously of high material. He looked familiar but she couldn't pinpoint why he did. One quality that made him stand out even more - his extremely handsome face. She saluted. "Thank you, Young Master, for helping me. Allow me to pay for your meal."
"Miss Song! Are you alright?" a servant hurriedly rushed over and asked worriedly.
"Everything is under control. Continue doing a good job," Song Yun nodded and then she turned around and left.
"Being a hero and saving a beauty; Young Master Jian, great move!" Yan Jian's friend said with a bright smile.
With a stoic face, Yan Jian simply stared at the girl who looked no younger than eighteen. This was already the third time they met and each time, her reaction seems to be the same. For some reason, he felt she was familiar. He suddenly had a small interest in her.
…
A servant of Eternal Dishes smiled brightly when he saw the usual Young Master Yan enter their restaurant. This young master has been coming almost every day! This was great business since many ladies enter the restaurant just to get a glimpse at this handsome young master!
"What would you like today, Young Master?"
Yan Jian glanced around. She wasn't here today… He felt a bit glum. "I'll just get some sweet and spicy chicken." That was alright, he would come again.
…
"We meet again," Yan Jian saluted. "Miss Song, how is your hand?" He looked at her as she stared at his face with an indifferent gaze.
Song Yun's hand had been injured from helping a noble lady escape from a nasty rogue a few days ago. She nodded. "Thank you for your concern, Sir Yan. It was thanks to you that only my hand was injured… And my hand is fine now."
"Then that's good…"
Song Yun was about to find an excuse to leave since it was awkward just standing there in silence, but he spoke first.
"Miss Song, how about you treat me to dinner sometime? I heard from the servants of Eternal Dishes that you are incredibly talented in cooking." He used the fact that he had helped her deal with that rogue to ask for a favor.
Song Yun paused and after a moment, a small smile formed on her lips. "Then… how about right now?" She was grateful he stepped in to help since her cultivation was lower than that rogue, but she had a feeling that she shouldn't have a relation with him even if he felt oddly familiar to her. So it was better to clear this debt now than later.
Yan Jian's stoic eyes softened, and he nodded. "Alright. Where should we go?"
Song Yun pondered on that thought. "My parents are on a trip right now. Would the young master be fine with dining at my manor tonight?" She wouldn't have suggested such a thing since it wasn't proper for two strangers, one man and woman, to be alone together. But her parents weren't home and she did owe him a favor, therefore she made an exception. The few servants in her manor, she can just dismiss so no odd rumors spread about her and Sir Yan.
Yan Jian nodded. "Shall we go right now?"
Song Yun lifted an eyebrow. "We should go separately to prevent any possibilities of scandalous rumors spreading. I should also return first to prepare the cooking ingredients. You can just come when it is time for dinner."
"Then I'll see you in a bit…"
Dinnertime arrived and once Yan Jian arrived at the decently sized residence, he knocked on the door and waited.
A woman wearing an apron with her hair tied up into a ponytail with a white ribbon opened the door. Yan Jian blinked at the sight, knowing she probably just finished setting up. Even with a simple dress, and even wearing an apron, her beautiful features still shone through, especially because her hair was up with only a few hair strands to frame her face.
She welcomed him in and took him to their courtyard table. The sun was just setting, covering the sky with a beautiful orange as two people sat around the table.
Song Yun had prepared some pork dumplings, beef stir-fry, and chicken soup. She gestured towards the steaming fresh food. "Since this was planned last-minute, I hope Young Master Yan won't mind this humble meal. Please enjoy."
Yan Jian gulped when he saw how delicious they looked and picked up his chopsticks to grab a dumpling. He took a bite and his eyes slightly widened. It was good, very good! He turned to her. "Miss Song is very talented in cooking." This was the most delicious dumpling he had ever eaten and for some reason, it made him feel warm inside. It reminded him of the food his dead mother used to make for him.
She showed a genuine smile and made him a bit stunned. This was the first time he saw her full smile; it looked a little delicate and warm. "I'm glad. I made this food for you, so please take your time." Then she finally picked up her chopsticks to eat with him.
Yan Jian smiled warmly and nodded. He went back to the food and didn't notice that Song Yun too, was a little stunned by his change of expression. Song Yun paused and looked down at her empty plate for a moment before she went back to doing what she was going to do.
…
Song Yun was invited over by the noble lady whom she saved before since this lady wanted to thank her properly. She didn't feel the need to go but knew it would be rude. Thus, she dressed in her best robes and attended this small banquet that was only for young nobles.
"Miss Song! I'm so glad you came!"
Song Yun saluted. "Miss Gu. Thank you for inviting me."
"No! I wanted to thank you properly but haven't found the time! Today, I only invited some close friends to enjoy the view of flowers and chat with me. Mostly everyone is here already. Come!" She led her into a beautiful wide garden of flowers.
"Come sit next to me," Miss Gu quickly led her over to sit next to her as everyone was seated around each other.
She looked to the left where there was an empty seat. It seems only one person hasn't arrived yet. She just really wanted to leave early since she didn't belong here.
"Who is this pretty lady, QiaoQiao?" one of her female friends asked curiously. This lady in pale green was of outstanding looks and posture. How had she not heard of her before?
QiaoQiao smiled. "This is Miss Song. She saved me a few days ago from a drunk rogue. I wanted to thank her by inviting her over to enjoy the flower viewing and snacks with us."
"Oh! How horrid! Are you alright, QiaoQiao?!"
"Yes, thanks to Miss Song."
A few of them turned to look at Song Yun with smiles and emitted a welcoming atmosphere. "Then we would have to thank you too, Miss Song."
Everyone chatted among themselves happily and Song Yun was also included, making her feel somewhat overwhelmed at first. But since they were all kind people, she didn't have any trouble and decided to stay just a little longer, especially because the snacks here were delicious.
Just then, a servant came in and informed QiaoQiao of their last guest. She nodded and smiled, while standing up. Everyone also stood up so Song Yun followed in their movements.
A man dressed in gray robes appeared with an overbearing presence. Everyone saluted towards him and he nodded, walking past everyone to sit beside Song Yun. His cold eyes went to her figure and she felt a little uncomfortable. So he was the last guest… She wouldn't have expected it.
"I'm sure everyone here knows Sir Yan. He also happened to pass by and helped me deal with that drunk man so I invited him as well. Sir Yan, I hope you won't mind the basic snacks provided."
Yan Jian simply nodded and kept his gaze forward as a servant poured him some tea.
It was awkward at first, but soon the warm atmosphere returned with the great hosting QiaoQiao provided. Then they all stood up to mingle closer to each other and walked through the beautiful garden.
"Miss Gu, are you saying you tended to all of these plants?" Song Yun asked, baffled.
QiaoQiao smiled and nodded proudly. "Yes. I love taking care of flowers and watching them bloom."
"That's amazing," Song Yun genuinely complimented.
"Thank you," QiaoQiao blushed a little.
"Miss Song," one of the noble sons near them said, joining the conversation, "It's amazing that you put yourself in danger for a stranger. I want to thank you again for helping QiaoQiao. She actually informed me of the situation back then."
Song Yun nodded. "It is only what a normal human should do, Sir Su."
"Still, I am grateful. QiaoQiao is like another sister to me. I can imagine how frightened she must have been." He sighed.
Song Yun smiled. "Then I'm glad to have been of help."
They chatted for a few moments longer before Sir Su asked in a slightly quiet voice, "Miss Song, are you perhaps free a few days from now?"
"Hm, I'm not sure. Why?"
He lightly rubbed his nose. "Well, if you don't mind, how about going to a…"
"Miss Song, I was surprised to see that you accepted the invitation as well," Sir Su's words were interrupted and he noticed that another man had joined in their conversation as QiaoQiao was long gone and talking with someone else. He slightly bowed his head towards Yan Jian.
"Sir Yan, how are you enjoying this small banquet?"
"It's fine," Yan Jian said with no emotion.
"Oh…" He turned back to Song Yun, "As I was saying…"
"The weather is lovely today," Yan Jian interrupted as he looked at the sky.
Sir Su nodded with an awkward smile. "Ah, yes. It is…" He turned back to Song Yun once Yan Jian went back to being silent. He opened his mouth but Yan Jian suddenly spoke again.
"Miss Song Yun, do you like flowers?"
Song Yun blinked, unsure of what was happening. "Yes, which girl doesn't like flowers? But what were you going to say, Sir Su?"
Sir Su blushed a little. "Would you like to go to a…"
"I think he already said all he wanted to say," Yan Jian said in a colder tone.
Song Yun frowned. "Young Master Yan, it is rude to interrupt someone while they are talking."
Yan Jian stared at her who was looking at him like he was in the wrong and then his cold gaze went towards Sir Su, who was also staring at him in bewilderment. "Mm," he said before he went back to looking at the sky.
Su Su stared at Yan Jian's indifferent side profile for a moment and then at Song Yun who was paying attention to him with a polite smile. He sighed inside, coming to an understanding, and then shook his head lightly. "No," he smiled sadly. "It's nothing."
"Are you sure?" Song Yun asked.
He nodded. "Yes." Both didn't notice that a small smile formed on the lips of the domineering man next to them.
They exchanged a few more words before Sir Su went to chat with his other friends.
Song Yun admired the flowers of various colors and showed a small smile. They made her feel at ease. But their residence doesn't even have a flower garden this beautiful. She also doesn't frequent it often, so why does this feel so normal? Like she has walked in a similar garden many times before...
"Do you like flowers that much?"
She turned her head and saw Yan Jian looking at her. With a slight nod, "Yes. They are quite beautiful. A shame our family residence doesn't have one as wonderful. Instead, we have a small farm." She chuckled.
Yan Jian looked at her relaxed smile and glanced at the flowers. Then he bent down to pluck a white flower and put it on her ear, surprising her.
"What?" She quickly took a step back in shock. He was a little too close.
He smiled. "You look prettier than these flowers." Then he turned around and walked away with calm strides as his ears started to burn.
…
Song Yun looked at Yan Jian with a frown as she took a bite of the sweet potato buns in her hand. "Why do you keep giving me food?" It has happened multiple times now. This time, they met outside on the streets while she was shopping for a present for her mother and he insisted on buying her some potato buns.
"Because I know you like trying out new things to compare to the food at your restaurant." Yan Jian remembered the times he gifted her clothes and hair pins. She simply refused to accept them.
Song Yun shook her head. "Don't you have better things to do?" Why did she keep running into him? She frowned at that thought.
He shook his head, his expression unreadable like always. "I already finished everything."
"Stop following me," she said with a hopeless sigh.
"We're simply going in the same direction."
…
"Call me Jian," Yan Jian said.
Song Yun raised an eyebrow. "Why?" They could be considered good friends now, but not close enough to be on a first name basis. Why was he so persistent?
He stared at he quietly and she sighed.
"Does it matter?"
He nodded with a grave expression.
Song Yun was silent for a moment. Her voice softened unknowingly. "Jian."
Yan Jian smiled gently. "Mm. Yun."
Song Yun stared at him and quickly looked down. She turned around when she felt her cheeks burning. She clenched her chest. No. They were merely friends. "I'm going now."
…
"Don't think you can run away from me, Song Yun!"
Song Yun weakly fell forwards as she tripped over a rock and felt her body shake. She couldn't even feel any of her cultivation as she was left vulnerable. "How could you stoop so low, you animal!"
Tian Zhou was a man from a small noble family who had been trying to pursue Song Yun since he saw her a few weeks ago but had been repeatedly rejected by her. He was laughing as he caught up and stood in front of her, catching his breaths.
He looked into her cold eyes and smiled with a shiver. "Since you refused to be my concubine, I can only force it then." He jumped towards her and Song Yun quickly threw the dirt in her hands in his face and he screamed.
Song Yun forced her body to stand as she struggled to walk away. "Help," she weakly called but there was only a silent road in front of her. How did she even get kidnapped in the middle of the day?! She should have been more careful.
"You wench!" She was grabbed from behind and fell down as she struggled to escape.
"Let me go!" She felt her collar being tugged open and the tears she was holding back were starting to form in her eyes. She used two fingers to poke his eyes and he screamed again as she escaped from his hold. But she no longer had the strength to stand properly and she fell forwards. Her breaths were bated and her vision was slowly going away.
"Yun!"
Her body was embraced by warm arms and she looked up with hazy eyes. She tightly gripped onto his strong arms and silent tears fell from her eyes as she closed them and became unconscious.
"Yun!" Yan Jian shook her lightly and felt the rage inside him erupt as he looked at the man who was cursing and looking at Song Yun with lustful eyes.
"Give her to me!" the madman screamed.
Yan Jian had been busy due to the duties his father was forcing on him so he had not been able to see Song Yun lately. And now that he sees her in this situation, his mood was quickly going downhill as his eyes darkened into an abyss. "Disgusting insect," he said with a freezing cold tone. "Die." A black sword appeared in his hands and he ended that insect's measly life before he quickly carried Song Yun in his arms back to his manor.
When Song Yun awoke, she still felt a little weak and she quickly sat up and looked around with vigilant eyes, checking on her condition.
"Yun, you're awake."
Song Yun froze when she heard a familiar voice and noticed a gray figure walking into the room with soft eyes, different from his usual cold ones.
"Jian," she whispered. She felt the tears emerge again and she quickly turned away.
"It's alright," he said, hugging her softly. "I took care of him already." His soothing voice made her trembling heart calm down.
Sniff. She nodded and gripped onto his back with shivering hands.
Yan Jian tightened his hold on her, and he gritted his teeth. He wasn't going to let that bastard's family get away with this either!
…
Song Yun just finished making breakfast and wiped her forehead with a handkerchief as her eyes gazed at the dishes she set on the table in an aesthetically pleasing manner. She nodded, satisfied, and went to call for her parents to eat.
"Oh? The food our dear daughter made today is especially good," her father said in a deep teasing tone.
Her mother chuckled, "Well she tried her best since it's your birthday today, dear. So of course, we need to praise her." She turned to her daughter who was still standing and looking at them with anticipation. "Yun'er, come, sit down. You've done a good job."
"Enough that I will be able to inherit our restaurant?" She asked.
Her mother giggled and nodded. "You've improved greatly. I wouldn't be worried if I passed our restaurant to you right this moment."
Her father pouted. "So you did all this just to suck up to your mother? It's supposed to be my birthday today." This caused both mother and daughter to laugh at her father.
"Of course not, father! Here, try this. I made this knowing you love eating pork most of all." She scooped a piece of pork belly onto his plate.
They had a lovely meal and then enjoyed desserts afterwards.
"I don't think I can eat for a whole year," Master Song said as she poured some tea for him.
Madam Wen shook her head. "I told you not to eat too much."
"But they were so good, I couldn't help it! And it's my 39th birthday, let me do whatever I want before I turn forty."
Song Yun stared at her father. She knew her father was turning 39… but why did it sound so odd now that he pointed it out? Was her father really only 39?
There was a knock on the door and Song Yun stood up. "I'll get it."
When Song Yun opened the door, there was a handsome man with deep eyes standing in front of her, emitting a cold aura that lessened when he saw that it was her. He wore neat gray robes and had a small silver crown that decorated his bun.
"Yan Jian… what are you doing here?" Song Yun blinked, surprised.
Yan Jian lifted his hand that was holding a wrapped box. "You told me it was your father's birthday today… so I came to give him a gift."
Song Yun nodded slowly. She hesitated and glanced behind her.
"Who is it, dear?" Madam Wen walked over and noticed Yan Jian standing outside their gate.
"Oh, my! If it isn't Young Master Yan! Please, come in!"
Yan Jian was led in and sat on the table as all three of them stood up respectfully.
"Young Master Yan, my daughter made some cakes today… please try some," Madam Wen said with a gentle smile.
Yan Jian nodded and put the box he held on the table. "Please, don't be bothered by me. Sit down."
"We wouldn't dare," Master Song quickly denied the request.
Yan Jian stared at them with his cold eyes and after a moment of silence, all three reluctantly sat down on the same table.
Yan Jian cleared his throat and stood up. He handed the box to Master Song and showed a small smile. "I heard it was your birthday today."
Master Song stared at the box and then smiled. He took it and bowed. "Thank you, young master. You even remembered this lowly person's birthday."
"No need." Yan Jian quickly said. "I always enjoy coming to your restaurant," he explained.
He glanced at Song Yun with deep eyes and then looked down at the cakes on the table. He took one and bit into it. With a gentle smile stunned that both parents, he complimented, "This is some good cake."
"If you want, we can pack some for you," Madam Wen said once she snapped out of it. "Yun'er, pack some for Young Master Yan." The young master was odd today.
Song Yun frowned a bit but quickly hid it and nodded. She packed some of the cakes she baked into a simple box and wrapped it up for Yan Jian.
Yan Jian stood up. "I won't disturb the rest of your time," he said with a straight face.
"Why don't you stay for a little while longer? You just got here," Master Song suggested.
Yan Jian shook his head. "I only came to visit. My father still has a few things for me to do."
Both parents nodded in understanding.
"Then thank you for coming, Young Master Yan." The madam turned to her daughter, "Yun'er, see the young master out."
Song Yun slightly froze but her parents didn't notice as they started to exchange affectionate words with each other again. She stood up and walked behind Yan Jian as they slowly strode to the exit.
Yan Jian took slow strides as he listened for the smaller steps that were behind him. He couldn't help but smile a little. He stopped and the footsteps behind him also paused. He turned around and stared at the young lady who was only two years younger than him. When she noticed his stare, she looked away but then after a moment of thinking, she frowned and looked up, gazing right into his eyes as if there was nothing wrong with that.
"Is something the matter, Young Master Yan? Did you perhaps forget something?" she asked in an unemotional tone.
"Are you mad that I suddenly came here?" he asked softly. Since she was using honorifics to distance herself, she was obviously upset.
Song Yun pursed her lips. "No, young master. You can do whatever you want."
Yan Jian sighed and took a few steps closer to her but she also took a few steps back. He stepped forward and in the next moment, he was in front of her and her eyes slightly widened. She felt her face start to redden and she avoided his gaze.
He smiled. "I'm sorry. I just wanted to make a better impression on your parents. Next time, I'll ask you first, alright?" He slowly reached for her hand but she took a step back and he paused. Then he reached for the box of cakes and tugged on it, causing her to fall forward.
"Ah!"
Yan Jian held her shoulders to prevent her from falling and grabbed the box before it reached the ground. He helped her stand up and looked at her long lashes that were visible from the close distance. "Sorry… I just feel a bit hurt since you kept avoiding me," he whispered. "I'll wait for you on the bridge during the festival. I won't leave until you show up."
Song Yun stood frozen in place even after he left. Then she felt her whole face flush and she stared at the door that he left in. She clenched her sleeves. She could feel her heart jumping with joy and the butterflies in her stomach. But… her eyes narrowed. For some reason, she felt as though she shouldn't fall in love with him. If she admitted her feelings… then it would be too late.
She had been trying to avoid him these few months he spent trying to court her. He visited her parents' restaurant every day just to see if he could get a glimpse of her and when he spotted her in the streets, he would stay with her until she left. He didn't talk much, but the soothing silence when she was with him didn't make her feel uncomfortable. He learned about her favorite foods, her hobbies, and bought her meaningful gifts even if she refused them. Yet, he never went too far and at the same time, never gave up, making it hard for her to reject him. It was hard not to feel anything but… but that was it.
The biggest reason why she has been closing off her heart to him was that Yan Jian was of a different status from her. She was in a normal family that ran a popular restaurant in this big city. They could be considered rich enough to live well. But Yan Jian was different.
He came from a noble family, the Yan Clan, that has been rich for generations and had a flourishing clothing business. Not only that, but at least half of his family members were cultivators who were higher than the Second Tier. One of his cousins even works for the emperor! They were powerful compared to her, who only had her mother and her father, who were both in the Second Tier realm and will probably never pass to Third Tier. Thus, she never allowed herself to think too deeply about him.
"Yun'er, what's wrong? Why are you standing here like this?"
Song Yun turned around and smiled towards her mother, hiding any thoughts that were going through her mind. She shook her head. "I was just shocked the young master liked my cakes."
Madam Wen smiled. "He gifted your father a jade vase. He is a kind boy."
Song Yun nodded.
"But it is a bit weird… even if he liked our restaurant, why did he specifically come to deliver the gift?"
Song Yun stiffened and quickly walked back inside before her mother asked her any more questions.
She spotted her father who was admiring the vase and went into her room. She frowned and rubbed her chest. Why was this feeling emerging again? This uncomfortable sense that something was wrong. It's been bothering her since she woke up.
…
Song Yun looked carefully at the white orchid hairpin on display in the jewelry shop but decided not to reach for it.
"You're not getting it?" Xu Shu, her childhood friend, asked. Both girls were shopping for new accessories to wear to the upcoming Boat Festival.
Song Yun shook her head. "I already bought a new pair of clothes. And I spent some money on mother and father as well. It's better I save the rest in case I need it in the future."
Xu Shu sighed. "Why are you always worried about the future? It's not like anything is going to happen!"
Song Yun smiled. "I don't know… It's just a feeling. And it's better safe than sorry."
"Oh, look, it's Young Master Yan. He's so handsome!" Xu Shu swooned like many other young ladies who were currently inside the store.
Song Yun looked over and saw him occupied, fixated on the different pieces of jewelry in front of him.
"I heard he has a fiancé. He's probably going to buy something for her," Xu Shu sighed.
Song Yun turned to her friend. "He has a fiancé?"
Xu Shu nodded. "Yeah. I think she's from another noble clan. It happened very recently."
…
"I don't need to listen to you," Song Yun said as she quickened her steps.
Yan Jian declared as he followed right beside her, "Song Yun! Father forced me to take her out! The one I-"
Song Yun stopped walking and looked up at him. "We're not meant to be together, Yan Jian." She looked toward the restaurant where a pretty woman was staring at them. "She's pretty and noble," she whispered. "A great match for you."
Yan Jian hugged her and closed his eyes. "It doesn't matter. I don't love her, I don't even like her!"
Song Yun stiffened and she stood there silently as she listened to his loud heartbeat. This was the most emotions she's ever seen him show.
No. She wasn't supposed to fall for him. She pushed him and ran.
"I'll still wait for you during the festival! It's a promise!" His voice sounded a bit desperate, different from the calming voice she was used to, which made her heart waver even more.
…
Song Yun stared at the beautiful light green gown, painted with beautiful flowers, on her bed. A letter was on top of it.
You look best in the color green. I'll be waiting for you.
"Song Yun! Your mother! She was heavily injured by bandits who suddenly attacked your parents' carriage!" Xin Shu ran in to inform her with hurried steps.
Song Yun quickly stood up and dropped the letter in her hands. "What? Tell me, what happened?!"
"Your father has brought your mother's body into the city clinic but… she is losing a lot of blood."
Song Yun ran out as fast as she could and her body slightly floated unconsciously, something she was never able to do, without her realizing as she sped towards the city clinic.
Song Yun first spotted her father, with bobbing shoulders as he sobbed, hugging his wife's body.
"Mother!" Song Yun first noticed the blood that gushed out from her mother's abdomen and then her pale face that had blood dripping to the side from her lips as her eyes closed. She froze. "N-no…"
Suddenly flashbacks appeared in her mind, ones she could not recognize. A beautiful woman with a haggard face and dark under-eyes, her coughs and the blood she threw up, the red staining a white pillow and dripping to the floor, the darkness that enveloped the woman's body, and the words, "Remember… it is not your fault."
This woman here wasn't her mother.
Now it all made sense. The nagging and tight feeling in her chest when she talked to her parents. Even if she was smiling, even if she felt happy, something seemed wrong. Her mother was already dead long ago… Song Yun, no, Wu LiJing closed her eyes and felt her body touch the floor.
…
A woman opened her cold eyes and felt as if she was once again, stuck inside a very sweet dream from long ago that quickly turned sour.
LiJing sighed and rubbed her eyes. This is why she didn't want to go to sleep.
…
"You think you're so great?" a girl who only looked around eighteen laughed as she coughed out blood. "Master will find out eventually who you guys are and exterminate your whole clan!"
"I'm not from a clan," Wu LiJing said coldly.
Cling! Cling!
"You can kill me, but you forgot one of us! He will report to master and he will kill you all!"
Wu LiJing sighed and brushed a piece of hair back. "Let's get this over with quickly. I had a bad dream today and am in quite a bad mood. Also, I already dealt with your comrade before I came here."
Once Wu LiJing finished her job, with a few bodies and heads beneath her feet, her sword vanished and she let out a long breath. She was a bit reckless today… her green robes had a few slashes here and there and she got injured a bit as well. She looked up at the sun. As long as Aunt Yao didn't see these tattered robes, she wouldn't blame her, right? These were hers now anyway.
Time to return to the Divine Emerald Sect.
