8. Not His Type

Rotating her neck to release some of the tension in them, Ella looked around her office.

"Well, this was an excellent way to break it in." She mumbled to herself eyes on the heap of files that she'd taken care of and the additional heap on the other side of her table she was yet to touch.

The clock on the wall read fifteen minutes past six and she let out a sigh. Work had been great but she needed some rest.

Gathering her few belongings and her laptop she arranged the few things she could and got ready to leave. She stood at the door and took in the slightly messy state of her new office and smiled.

Her office.

Well, it wasn't completely hers. She'd have to add a little of her taste here to get the feeling that it was hers. She looked around one last time at the quaint office and exhaled before she left and shut the door. Heading towards the elevator she glimpsed a slimmer of light from underneath Kaiden's door. She shook her head.

He couldn't possibly still be working right? There were off by five pm and she'd lost a little time, but he couldn't, right?

To soothe her curiosity, she turned around and walked to his office in slow steps. On reaching the double oak doors, she knocked lightly and heard a faint 'come in from the other side.

She pushed the slightly ajar door open and stepped in, her eyesight adjusting to the dimly lit room. Blinking a few times, a gaze cleared and her eyes widened at the sight that they met.

What seemed to be hundreds of papers arranged on the floor in a perfect circle, but that wasn't the shocking fact, but rather her boss, Kaiden Blaq himself, on his knees in the center of the circle with thick-framed glasses on his face as he read the files and wrote on some.

Ella took in his look, heart racing. He had disposed of his jacket and tie and rolled up the sleeves of his shirt to his elbow, the first two buttons of his shirt were unbuttoned and his hair... she nearly groaned. It was obvious he had run his hand through it a million times, the silky strands looking ruffled and a single one resting on his forehead, just above the thick-framed glasses.

All she could was stare, feeling that strange but familiar warmth settles below her belly. She bit her lips as she felt her face flush.

What on Earth was her problem? Here she was mentally harassing her employer while he worked. She'd gone down a rabbit hole.

"Yes?" She blocked and focused on Kaiden who was looking at her with an inquisitive look.

She swallowed and cleared her throat afraid of what she might sound like. "Um- it's past five, I was about to leave," she inhaled, her breath shaky. "when I saw the lights on so I just wanted to see if you still have something you want me to do."

He took in her rambling without blinking or any sort of expression on his face. When she was done, he nodded and got up from the floor, straightening to his full and impressive height. He turned towards his table and grabbed his phone. "It's past six." He groaned. "Sorry for keeping you waiting, you could have left when it was closing time."

He was still facing his table as he spoke arranging files. "I got carried away. I still had some files to sort out."

He nodded, still clearing his table. Ella tried to avert her eyes, but she couldn't try as she may. And with laser-sharp focus, her eyes fixed on his butt. Through his slacks, there was only so much she could see. Like the perkiness of them. The man did squats. She did a double-take from his broad and massive shoulders, his strong back, round butt, and long legs. Actually, he did a lot of workouts.

"You can go home, Annabella." Her eyes quickly jumped to his head as he turned to face her embarrassment flooding her cheeks. He had taken off the glasses and tucked them in the pocket of his pants.

She nodded and backed out of the room slowly aware of his focus on her. It was when she was finally outside of the building she let out the breath she was holding and inhaled the evening air.

True enough, the building was already cleared with only the security guard at the entrance who wished her a good night.

Upon reaching home, she undressed quickly and hopped in the shower, washing off the day's activities. Ignoring her pebbled nipples she grabbed a towel and stepped out of the bathroom realizing that Alex wasn't home yet.

Slipping on her very overworn and oversized - t-shirt, she grabbed her laptop and settled on the sofa a bowl of popcorn by her side as she worked on Kaiden's schedule. The once messy arrangement was almost done and over with.

Spotting a name in the calendar she saw she frowned at it. This was the only person who appeared every Friday on his schedule.

"Alessia Smith." She whispered to herself. Girlfriend? Probably not. Kaiden didn't strike her like the relationship kind of guy.

Her curiosity peaked at who this woman could be. A relative? Highly unlikely. Maybe a therapist, or a psychiatrist? The man did need one. Even if he would be meeting her not the other way round.

You never know, with his influence he could make it that way.

She shook her head and decided to focus on other things, but somehow her focus kept drifting to the identity of the woman. Forcing herself to focus she turned on her music player and the sound of Curious Thing by Amy Grant filled the silence of the room.

Still trying to focus on the schedule, her mind still drifting to the woman in question, Ella finally gave up with a groan when she realized she had been typing in 'who is Alessia Smith?' the whole time.

She pulled up google and took a moment to convince herself to stop, but curiosity won over and she pressed in the search words.

Waiting for a second felt like years as the loading bar turned slowly before the results appeared.

A stunning red-haired appeared on the screen in different shots.

She took a moment to read the results before scrolling through the pictures. Alessia Smith, a European based model with over eleven million followers on Instagram and fourteen on Twitter. She had modeled for big brand names like Dior, Chanel, LV, D&G, and of course, Victoria's Secret. Of course, she had with a lithe body that rivaled even Gigi Hadid and legs that went on for miles, she was more than stunning, she was enchanting.

And not just a beauty seeing as she had various charity organizations she had started, and she also participated in world awareness of the endangerment of certain species. A video popped up and Ella wasted no time in clicking it.

It showed Alessia in the sea wearing a dark bikini that complimented her skin tone swimming with dolphins.

Wow. She was perfect.

She read more reports and no information of Alessia and Kaiden showed. Only a blurry photo which was taken by some gossip site circulating if they were dating after they were seen at some charity ball for children with cancer.

In the picture, the gorgeous red-haired was dressed in a rose gold floor-length dress with a high slit stopping just below her hip. The long sleeves of the dress were embroidered with gold threads spiraling and curving into different patterns. Her lustrous hair high in a neat bun, make up flawless. And Kaiden stood by her side, hand on her waist dressed in a grey tuxedo exuding his usual charm.

One thing was certain, she definitely wasn't his therapist or psychiatrist. Although the two hadn't confirmed if they had a romantic relationship on any reports, she could bet her right arm that they had something sexual going on. And she wasn't just speculating because of the slight advantage of having access to Kaiden's calendar, but rather the body language in the photo. And it was saying a lot.

With a sigh, she shut down the laptop, the warmth she'd been feeling since seeing Kaiden this morning finally disappearing.

She almost let out a sigh of relief. It didn't do well to harbor that sort of feeling for your boss, and she was glad to finally be rid of them.

She wasn't Kaiden's type. She wasn't afraid to admit that. And she went to bed relieved yet ignoring the slight pang of pain in her.
