Luckily for her, she'd gone through the rest of the day without a hitch, trying her very best to stay out of Kaiden's way.
She'd set a new alarm and now she had an hour to get to work. She checked her watch as she climbed out of her car. 7:48 am. She let out a sigh of relief. She'd like to see the look on his face when he sees she arrived before him.
She took the elevators quickly, avoiding anything and anyone who could get in her way, and when the elevator doors opened, she nearly skipped at the sight of his closed doors with no light showing through.
Gathering her things in one hand she pushed the door open and squealed in fright at the bulking shadow in her seat.
"Well, that certainly woke me up." Kaiden dryly replied as he got up from her quaint chair and rounded the table to where Ella stood, clutching her chest in fright as her heart beat abnormally she was afraid it was going to rip from her ribcage.
"You don't have spare bulbs in here. Mine is drained, I think."
Still terrified, her mind still in a state of panic, Ella watched him wide-eyed as he quirked an eyebrow. Shaking her head she replied. "I - I don't thi- no, I'm not sure, I do."
He nodded and walked past her giving her a whiff of the manly scent he possessed. It clouded her thoughts until he spoke. "Call maintenance. Have them change it." He walked through the door, stopped then turned his head slightly. "And the instruction was eight sharp, not before, or after. Eight on the dot." And he walked out the light sound of his shoe the only sound to be heard.
She nearly let out a curse at the sound of the oak doors closing.
What kind of a creep was he? Seating in the dark like some sort of... She shook her head and arranged her belongings on her table opening the curtains to let out his scent. It wouldn't benefit her to work with his alluring scent lingering and confusing her even more.
She called up maintenance and put in the code to let them up, showed them Kaiden's office before taking a breather and calming her nerves. The sound of her phone's notification tone shocked her out of her state of calmness and she quickly grabbed her phone to read the text.
It was a text from Alex.
Hey sweetie! Left early. Everything O K ?
Ella sighed and peeked through her door. Kaiden's door was opened widely and she could see the maintenance guy -Bob- changing the ceiling lights. She hurriedly typed a reply.
I swear I'm not gonna live to thirty if I keep on working like this."
The floating dots appeared, showing Alex was replying. He sounds like a difficult man.
Ella groaned and replied backing away from the door and slowly walked towards Kaiden's office.
He's probably the sexiest man I've come across in my entire life. Yet he's also the most sexist, arrogant, creepiest asshole I'll ever have the pleasure of mee-
A force knocked her off her feet and before she could brace herself for impact, a hand grabbed her and pulled her closer to a sturdy chest. She opened her eyes slowly and came face to face with... of course it was him. Seems like fate had something against her.
"This is really becoming a habit."
She swallowed trying not to let his deep baritone voice, heady manly scent and muscular arms deceive her. She was stronger than that. She wasn't going to pay attention to how solid his chest was, or how she could feel the hard planes of his abs underneath, or the way his muscular arms fit in the dip of her back, or how close his lips wer-
"Ella, you're ogling again." She swiftly averted her gaze and moved away from his hold just as Bob walked past them.
"All done now, boss." Kaiden nodded stiffly in his direction and watched him leave. He crouched down to pick up her phone from the floor, and all the blood drained from her face.
He could read the text!
As fast as she could, she grabbed the phone out of his hands. "Thank you. I just wanted to see if you needed help with anything."
He watched her for a second, his eyes roaming her features and she saw a flash of something in his eyes, but she blinked and it was gone. He shook his head stiffly and walked back to his office leaving her once again standing in a lonely hallway.

Once again, she'd spent her lunch with the guys from the development team and they were joined by the creative team this time around. Conversation had been free, and not centered on her mysterious boss. She learned they had an annual work party coming up in a three week's time.
"It's nothing fancy." Tony had said. "We just have it in the middle of the year to celebrate a halfway point. It's was the senior Blaq's idea."
Now she had something to prepare for. Parties weren't really her area of expertise. But they were definitely Alex's. She could already imagine the look on her face and the next few weeks she'd have trying to find a dress.
The work phone rang and she picked it up. "Ella, hey." It was Andy on the line. The receptionist she'd had the pleasure of meeting during lunch. "There's a Alessia Smith here. She said she has a meeting with Mr. Blaq?"
Shocked, the name registered in her head as the image of a lovely red haired came to mind. She didn't need to look in his schedule to know she did have an meeting. She'd been so fixated on the name she knew how many times he saw her and the exact time of their meeting.
"I'm letting her up now, Andy. Thanks." She dropped the phone and stood on shaky legs. Finally she was going to meet the woman who was Kaiden Blaq's type. Something she should dread but rather intrigued her.
She walked to Kaiden's office, knocked twice and entered on his gruffy reply.
"Ms. Alessia Smith is here to see you." The name had his head snapping up in her direction.
He appeared puzzled for a moment then took off his glasses. "Let her in."
Ella nodded and walked out of the office heading towards the elevator, she could see was heading up.
Immediately she stopped in front of it, the doors pinged and slowly opened.
Ella felt her jaw drop.
The pictures certainly didn't do her much justice.
The woman standing before her wasn't just beautiful, she was stunning.
Her red hair was actually a much brighter red than seen in the pictures, definitely Fuller stopping just above her waist. Her heart shaped face held the brightest green eyes she had ever seen. A straights nose she'd only seen on the Botched after results, and perfect pouty lips with a dip cupid bow.
She was dressed casually, in leather pants and a see through gold chiffon top and the highest heels Ella had ever seen on a person before.
"Is he aware?" Ella blinked at her, her sultry accent sounding appeasing.
At Ella's confused gaze she explained further. "Kaiden, does he know I'm here? He doesn't like it when I just pop up.
Well, considering he has you on his schedule, I'm pretty sure he knows you're here.
Deciding to keep her thoughts to herself she nodded. "He's expecting you."
She knocked on the door and pushed it open letting Alessia walk in before shutting the door.
She stayed a second, not sure why, then walked to her office before she closed the door. She had a feeling, he won't be needing her for a while.
She had just finished filing the rest of the documents when she heard Kaiden's door open. She rushed out careful not to trip and fall on her face. Alessia was already by the elevator doors. Her hair was in a ponytail now, and her makeup was slightly smeared. Her red lipstick had been replaced by a light pink lipgloss, and Ella wasn't daft to not understand what had just happened in there.
Even if she was, the after sex shine in Alessia's eyes couldn't be missed. The doors opened and she got into the elevator waving to Ella with a dazed look on her face, while Ella mirrored the gesture with a strained smile on hers.
When the doors closed, whatever leftover feelings she had for Kaiden dwindled to nothing. That was as good a wake up call as any.

Ella checked the time on her watch and sighed in relief. Finally she could head home. Grabbing her few belongings she saw the light from Kaiden's office and nearly groaned.
He was working late. Again. The man really was a workaholic.
She knocked on his door and peeked through. He raised his head at her entry and gestured for her to come in.
"There's a meeting of all board members tomorrow, it was scheduled to start by twelve, please change it to nine in the morning and send email out to all attendees."
Ella nodded checking it off in her head. "Would that be all, Mr. Blaq?"
He stopped writing whatever he had been writing seemingly taken aback by her choice of name. His eyebrows furrowed as he watched her, and Ella built up the steel walls around her heart. What on Earth was her problem. The man was her boss. She had no right to feel this way towards him.
His eyes scanned her face, yet she maintained the impassive expression, fighting not to give anything away. After a few seconds, he nodded solemnly and replied. "That's all, Ella."
She nodded and turned around to leave the office when his voice stopped her again. "is everything alright, Annabella. I assume everything meets your taste?"
She nearly scoffed. Now he wanted to know about her taste. The nerve of the man.
She mustered all the strength she had and faked the brightest smile ever before she faced him. "Everything is normal. Finally back to normal."
He quirked an eyebrow as his expression changed tod one of confusion. "Back to normal?"
She nodded. "All is right with the world again. Thank you Mr. Blaq for asking, but I really should be heading home before it gets later."
He watched her trying to dissect her every thought with just a look with his hawk like gaze fixated on her. Giving up he nodded with a grin look on his face and waved her off.
That evening, Ella left the company with two things in mind, she definitely wasn't Kaiden Blaq's type, but one thing was also certain: he definitely wasn't her type either.
