CHAPTER V:THE FRIEND WHO GOT ME INTO VOLLEYBALL

Eury's POV,

Kairos got suspended for two weeks because of an incident that he got involved but he told me that he was just got dragged into that fight.

He said that there was a fight between two gangs and one of his friends just called him for help. At first, he was just trying to stop them from fighting but one of them abruptly punched him that's why he fought back and got involved in the fight in the end anyway.

Well by the way he looks. You would think he is a delinquent.

His hair is black and has an undercut. His eyebrows are thick and the right side has a cut but he only did that on purpose to look cool. His eyes are intimidating and scary. His body is also bigger than the guys in our level.

Although I believe in what Kairos told me. He may be an air-headed person but I know he won't start the problem. Only the problem follows him tho.

Still, he is an idiot for getting involved in that incident.

"Huh?!! Tss I thought I could relax at home because of that two weeks suspension I didn't expect that we have to do a community service every day for two weeks as a punishment..."He complains to me. What am I? his mother?

"Of course, idiot. Delinquents like you deserve it because you won't listen if they only give you written works."I calmly explain."And besides, don't you like it. For a change, you experience something called cleaning..." I meant mockingly.

"Huh?!! What did you just say?!!" see idiot people can't easily comprehend what a smart person says.

I just look at me with Oh so what if I say it again what are you going to do look.

"By the way, I heard from Hiro that you have a new friend. Shiloh?"He asks shifting the topic. I just nod and continue flipping through my manga.

"Is he bothering you? I heard he keeps on bothering you while you are practicing alone." actually you are the one bothering me right now Kairos while I am reading my favorite manga.

"Nah.."I just lazily react while continues reading."He's pretty fun actually..." I then mumble.

"Fun?! This is something new. Eury who doesn't care about anything and anyone finds someone interesting?!!"He says teasingly.

"Can you please not try to make me look like a robot idiot? Plus can you give me five minutes of silence before others start arriving here?"I plead.

"You know you can just read it in your home, and bringing manga in school is prohibited. I wonder how you managed to bring it in here

every day without even getting caught?" He curiously asks.

"That's why I go to school early every day to avoid the student council inspection at the gate and it's hard to read in our home because of Hiro. I only have time to read at night when he is already sleeping but of course, I can't stay all night just by reading."I entirely justify to him my reason.

"I also have to play online games."

"That's an absurd reason!" He says in a dissatisfied tone.

I just shrug.

We have met since when we were six years old.

Hiro often gets sick when we were still kids. Between us, Hiro's body is weaker but he's an idiot. I thought idiot doesn't get sick but I think it's just also a stupid saying.

Hiro often gets hospitalized. My mom is a working mother and my father is a household husband. He is the only one who took care of us but, of course, Hiro is their top priority.

I am smart and independent at a very young age that's why my father doesn't worry about me that much.

My father just leaves me with his friend's family. My father trusts his friend so much and I became like a family to them eventually.

That's Kairos' family.

Kairos is their only child that has the same age as me. That's why they always tell Kairos to accompany me when I am always at their home.

They don't have to do it tho because I also don't like playing with kids my age especially boys.

"Uh...I don't play dolls..."He awkwardly tells me.

"It's fine I don't play dolls also."I simply reply. I don't play dolls because I love reading books instead.

"Then what do you want to play?"He asks again.

"Nothing."I boringly tell him. He looks at me with a puzzled look.

"Then do you want to try to play volleyball?!"He asks me again. Why can't he just leave me alone in here and mind his own business instead?

I just look at him with a blank face and he just looks at me also awkwardly. Now we are doing a staring contest. I don't know how this turned into a staring contest but I know that I don't want to lose in this contest.

"STO-STOP STARING!!" finally he's the first one to give up in our staring contest. I won. "Let's play volleyball instead!! I'll teach you!!" he offers me.

This boy is stubborn.

We are at the park near their house. It's good that no other kids are in here aside from us.

"You need to put your both arms together like this." He instructs me how I should do it but I just looked at him with

"Don't just simply stare at me like that!! Are you a retarded?!" He dumbly asks me.

My forehead creased because of what he said but I am too lazy to retort to his insult and followed his instructions instead.

"That's right!! If you are going to receive the ball you have to position your both arms like that. Okay?!"He says and I just nod.

"Okay, now I'll serve this ball and try to receive this okay?" He demonstrates and I just nod my head again.

He served the ball first and I received it easily. I gave him a smug face after that.

Is that what you got?

"Wow!! For a normie, you are already good at receiving. No one can receive my serves that easily."He commends me.

"It's too easy and weak for me that's why I received it without any problem," I say to infuriate him.

"Huh?! I just go easy on you because you are a girl and still a normie."The debate as to if I will believe him.

"Really? Then give me your best and strongest serve and I'll receive it." I challenge him.

"Huh?! You might cry if I do that." He teasingly warns me but I just smirk again.

"Then do it. Don't tell me you are just all about talk.Pfft."I sarcastically tell him too.

"Huh?!! Then don't blame me if you get hurt!!"Then he starts serving the ball.

Wow, I pissed him but too bad it's too easy for me to receive it.

After that Kairos always challenge me to play volleyball with him. Of course, he always loses to me. Eventually not just in volleyball but in

everything. He keeps on trying to win between us but always failed. It's quite annoying at first but I find it fun to see him miserably lose each time and try harder to beat me.

We will be having our volleyball training camp in three days. It's after our midterm exam. I finished answering our exam earlier than everyone else. Aside from watching them miserably answer their answer sheets. I just boringly sitting in here while watching outside the window.

There are few students outside their class already. Probably those students are finished answering their exams or students who just skipped their examinations. I can

go outside now but it's hot outside.

I am watching everyone outside the window when I noticed someone familiar from not too far.

Shiloh? What this idiot even doing outside?

He's holding textbooks. It seems like their examination ended earlier than us.

He looks so done with his life tho. He looks like he's carrying the whole world's problem.

He's just walking in circles. Did he become a complete idiot already?

In the middle of just walking in circles, he collapsed. He died.

I was surprised by what I saw. No one is there near him nor no one saw it besides me. I immediately excuse myself from the class.

I rushed from where he is and I am relieved that he is still there laying on the ground.

Wow, he's even facing the ground.

I tried shaking him hoping to wake him up from collapsing."Hey..." calling him."Shiloh..."

I hear him groaning and he moved slightly to face me."Yeah..?"He says.

Slowly opening his eyes he saw me and his eyes widened in surprise.

"Eu-Eury?!!"He calls my name stuttering. I just nod to confirm that I am Eury.

He hastily sits down from laying down on the ground.

His face is so red and facing down to the ground. He can't face me probably because of humiliation.

"Are you okay?"I ask him calmly. Well obviously not because he just fainted a while ago.

"Huh? Uh...Ye-yes!!"He says still stuttering.

"Are you not feeling well? I just saw you a while ago walking in circles then collapsed." I describe it to him.

"Huh??! You saw that?!!"He asks while still turning red. I just shook to say yes.

"This is so embarrassing!!" he says while covering his whole face with his two hands.

"It's not embarrassing. It's normal for people to collapse if they are not feeling well." I only say to him to also make him feel better.

He looks at me while still blushing. He looks so cute tho.

I smile at him to show him that it's okay but it made his face redden even more and he abruptly turns around to his back.

I just look at his back confused because of what he did.

"Why? Is there something wrong?"I worriedly ask.

"No-o...I am just. Embarrassed..." he says in a very low voice while still stuttering.

I smirk and went over in front of him to face him.

"Is there any problem?"I ask him directly.

"Uh...Uhmm it's about our exam..I..think I failed in literature..." he is even hesitating to tell me about that.

"You think? But they haven't released our scores yet. Don't you think you are just being too negative?"I tell him.

He looks at me hopelessly. I am not used to seeing him like this.

"No!! I think I did because I didn't study harder. I messed up half of the questions!"He says in a depressing tone.

"Is that so? Well, it can't be helped. Failing is also a part of life. Don't make it a big deal okay?"I say trying to cheer him up.

"If I fail literature I will be forced to take special classes this weekend!!"He explains and I just nod.

"Then I won't be able to join the volleyball team training camp this Saturday..."He says completely sounding so discouraged.

I didn't think about that because I didn't fail anything in our exam that's why I didn't know that there's such a rule like that.

"Can't you just beg your teacher or maybe to the principal to let you join the training camp?"I suggest.

His eyes widen and sparkle again. Those are the eyes that I want to see.

"Really??!! I didn't know that. Can you go with me then to beg our teacher and principal?!"He says while holding both of my hands.

"Uhmm yes...I guess?" I hardly just say. I mean I can't reject him while he's making that face. He's too cute...

"Really??!!Thanks, Eury!!"He finally came back from being joyful and hugs me so tightly.

Geeze...This idiot is hopeless...

I chuckle while hugging him back.
