Today is Friday. Thank God! It means tomorrow is my day off!!! Yeah!
I got up excitedly from my...
“Wait, I’m not in my bed or in my house? Where am I?” I looked at the surroundings. “Why am I here?” I looked at my body to see what I was wearing. It was still the clothes that I wore yesterday. “What happened?” I cocked my head, recalling events from yesterday, and why the hell can’t I remember anything?.
I frustratingly looked around, but I didn't look like I was being kidnapped because the room was beautiful. The interior depicted a man using this room.
I immediately covered myself with a blanket when I heard the door click. Then I peeked to see the person who opened the door.
“What is going on? Why are you here?” I muttered.
“You’re awake!” A baritone voice said it gives me shivers down my spine... Geez...
“Don’t worry, you’re inside my office. You’re still here in the company.” I frowned.
“I-in y-your office?!” I asked.
He just nodded nonchalantly.
“You passed out yesterday.” He said in an indifferent tone. Geez ---
“Wait!” I raised my palm. And he looked at her questioningly. “I passed out?!” He nodded.
“Don’t worry, the company doctor checked you already, and they said you lacked sleep, and that is the reason you passed out.” He crosses his arms around his chest. I scoffed. I was about to tell him the reason, but I remembered the project.
“Shit... The photoshoot and the deadline!” I got up and was about to leave the room when he caught my arm. I looked at him.
“Where are you going?” His brows creased when he asked.
“Uhhmm... Today is the deadline, right? And like I said, I will send you the report for project-S this morning before we print it out for the magazine.” He rolled his eyes.
“Eat first, it’s past 12 in the afternoon.” My eyes rolled. I gasped.
“W-what?!” I asked out loud. I grab a handful of my hair frustratingly. This was the first time this has happened to me. Maybe I was stressed out.
He heaved a sigh before releasing me from his grasp. “Eat first. Look at yourself, you look like a crazy woman.” I looked at him in disbelief.
I don’t care if you’re the boss. You have no right to call me crazy! I speak in my mind.
“Stop murmuring. If someone sees you, they’ll think you’re crazy.” He said, amused.
I pushed myself to sit in the chair to get to the food on the table.
“Don’t worry about the shoot, it ended yesterday. I supervised them. And just send me the finalized report for project-S after you review their outputs. Abby showed me your proposal for the said project yesterday. I must say, you impressed me.” A ghost smile appeared on his lips. I smirked.
“Thank you, Sir,” I proudly said before I started eating. I needed to finish right away, so I could go back to my work immediately. I don’t enjoy wasting time. If I hadn’t fainted, I wouldn’t have delayed my work. I heaved a sigh. After I ate, I apologized and got back to my office. I also asked permission to go home after submitting my reports and proposal. I will just go home to my condo to take a shower and get back to work again.
When I came back, I told Abby to organize a meeting with the E-team. I wanted to apologize to them for my rude behavior the previous day.
“I called for a meeting because I wanted to say... I’m sorry for what happened yesterday. I mean... I was rude to all of you, and I know what I did yesterday was unreasonable and--,” I gasped.
“It’s okay, Ms. Ashley. We understand. We all know that you’re just doing your best... And as EC, you just have to be strict with us.” Abby said, then she smiled at me. I looked around at the people in the conference room, and they were all smiling at me. I tearfully smiled at them.
“Thank you. I thought you’d get angry. I know I’m young, and that maybe you’d think I’m bossy. And you might think of me as being unreasonable, but I just want our work to be done smoothly, and I don’t want any of us to get fired because I’m not competent.” I took a deep breath before continuing. “My colleagues before...” I shook my head. “They never treated me the way, you guys... They always thought I was bossy, short-tempered... That is why I am grateful that there is still someone who will not judge me.”
“It’s okay, Miss Ashley. We understand where you’re coming from. And as an Editor-in-Chief, it is not easy to handle a group this big. We are right here. We are a team, alright?” Ms. Meriam said.
Everyone nodded in agreement.
“I would also like to apologize for passing out yesterday, because of that, I wasn’t able to continue doing my job.” I looked at them apologetically. Thankful that they understood me. I also told them that Project-S has been approved, and it is already in the printing area. They were all happy as I was.
“Since we finished my first project here as your new EC, I’ll treat you all later for dinner. I hope you’re all in?” I asked hesitantly.
“Wow! Free dinner! That’s great!” Betty said enthusiastically. And since I’ve only been here for a few days, I don’t know most of them very well. I never thought Betty was a cheerful person. They all laughed.
“Let’s invite Mr. Moon too!” Mikaela exclaimed.
“Oh! Maybe he’s busy. I doubt he’ll join us,” I said.
“Who says I’m busy?” I stiffened as I heard his baritone voice.
“Sir!” they say in unison. They immediately stood up and looked behind me. I slowly turned my back and smiled like a dog.
“He-he Mr. Moon!” I fake a cough...
“Are you okay now, Ashley?” He asked.
“Y-yes Mr. Moon.” He nodded.
“Okay then, let’s all have dinner later. My treat...” I saw the eyes of my companions twinkle. I rolled my eyes when I saw how excited they were.
“But Sir, I’m the one who invited them.” I protest.
“Ashley, save your money. Let’s just say... This is your welcome party.” I sighed in defeat. Well... That’s good though... I grinned.
“Yes!” said the crowd. My jaw dropped at their sudden excitement. I slap my palm on my face as I shake my head.
The older ones just laughed too.
“Abby, cooperate with Luke later about our dinner. Both of you should order food for the editorial staff on the 38th floor.” Mr. Moon commanded. Luke and Abby nodded then he turned his gaze at me.
“I also came here to ask about the updates of your next project for the next issue.”
“I’m still working on it, Sir.”
