Though there are theoretical knowledge to be studied when involving both professions, it's more based on accurate usage of pokemon moves and practical experience; especially on Pokemon Contests or Pokemon Battles. It is legally eligible for anyone at the age of ten, to be a Pokemon Trainer or a Pokemon Coordinator.

The last professions, such as Pokemon Doctor, Pokemon Breeder, and Pokemon Researcher mainly relies on theoretical side of the studies. They each have their own different fields of expertise; thus, a licensed researcher, breeder, and doctor should have gone through a lot of studying and exams. The Pokemon Alliance cooperates with the Pokemon Doctor Association (PDA), Pokemon Breeder Association (PBA), and Pokemon Researcher Association (PRA) to conduct annual examinations of these respective professions. Yearly, there would be thousands of exam takers on each profession, with the number differing on the level of license they hope to acquire.

Pokemon Medicine, or the profession of Pokemon Doctors, are involved with the systematic treatment of illnesses and conditions of a pokemon. Most registered Pokemon Doctors are from the Joy Family, as their family had a systematic curriculum for Pokemon Medicine that was passed on for decades. However, Nurse Joy are not the only ones who are eligible to become a Pokemon Doctor. Being a Pokemon Doctor involves three specialization fields, in which one must study all of them to become a qualified doctor.

There are different ways of breeding pokemon, and Pokemon Breeders discuss the most optimal ways of developing a Pokemon. Besides growth, they also monitor a pokemon's physical health by developing different foods which suits differently for every pokemon. Pokemon Research covers a large span of knowledge, as it covers anything that may involve Pokemons. History, Archeology, Genetics, Evolution, Habitats, Literature, and other topics that could involve Pokemons are included in a Pokemon Researcher's study. Due to having a broad span of knowledge, the Pokemon Research Association mainly point out three specializations that all Pokemon Researchers must know. Being a certified Pokemon Researcher, it is necessary to study the three required specialization field of research.

The required specialization fields of a researcher are:

Depending on the level of skill per specialization field, Pokemon Researchers could be subdivided into seven ranks, starting with the least certified, up to the most certified, respectively.

Pokemon Researchers' different ranks are the following:

Take note, despite the necessity of studying these three specialization fields, most Pokemon researchers are studying their own that may not be related to the three required fields. The highest honor in the field of research is being awarded with the title "Pokemon Professor". Currently, there are only eight living Pokemon Professors, each one with different specializations of research. All of them has revolutionized their specialization field thus achieved the rank of Master Researcher, which means that they are awarded with the title "Pokemon Professor".
