Breakfast with Eevee

Right after his birthday, Paul brought Eevee back to his room to talk to her telepathically.

'Hey, bud.' Paul softly spoke to Eevee's mind.

"Evui~?" She responded back, while looking quite timidly at him.

'It's okay bud, I'm not going to hurt you. No one will hurt you here.' He clarified. His response was met with Eevee's radiant look.

"Evui~?!" Eevee tilted her head, while looking at him with bright eyes.

Paul was quite sure that she meant "Really?!". He then answered with another statement. 'Yes. You will be safe here. My name is Paul, and I'll be your Pokemon Trainer. I hope that we get along well as we'll be together for a long time. Will that be okay with you?' He asked in her mind.

"Evui~! (◕ ᵜ ◕ )" She answered aloud with a brilliant shine on her eyes.

Paul laughed with delight as he embraced Eevee. He figured that Eevee has a natural gentle disposition but turned timid because of the experiments. Paul decided to work hard on letting Eevee show her true nature, not only to him but also towards other people and pokemons.

As Paul felt Eevee rub back with his hug, he felt quite happy and content. Ditto, who's still an Eevee, inserted from under him and joined the hug. This made Paul laugh even more. Remembering Eevee's data, Paul tried to rescan Eevee.

'She really is talented. She must've learned those moves when she was with other Eevees before.' Paul thought.

Eevee was able to learn quite a few moves without someone deliberately teaching her. It was an astonishing display of talent. Paul felt sorry that he won't be able to showcase her in Pokemon Battles yet, but he was determined to train Eevee in the usage of her skills, and to train her in maximizing her body's potential. But for now, he will let Eevee adapt at the environment of their house.

The next day, Paul went to breakfast as usual. This time, however, there were two Eevees following him. His parents sighed with relief at seeing their son acting as he usually did. Truthfully, they were quite uncertain regarding Paul's view on their past. He was just so mature, that they can hardly believe he's just two years old. Of course, being with their son for the past two years, it was quite believable for them. But in times like this, they still feel the surprise at the remarkable maturity that their son displays.

After fixing Eevee and Ditto's food bowl with Poke Food, Paul spoke grace before he and his parents started to eat breakfast. While eating, Paul asked a question to his parents.

"Um… Dad, Mom." He started while casting them a look. Mary and Joseph set their eyes from their food to Paul. As he saw that his parents were listening attentively, he continued speaking, "I just want you guys to explain what you want to do from now on. I'm making it clear that I do not judge you guys for your past, but I do not condone on you guys continuing to work for Team Rocket."

The couple saw their son's serious eyes, which made the both of them sigh. "Actually, I knew you were eventually going to bring this up." Joseph began. Seeing the perplexed look that he received from his son, he began to clarify, "What? We know you son. We know that eventually, you would want an action to be done. Remember when we didn't know that Ditto was the one who was messing up the house? You immediately acted out, in case the pokemons in question were innocent. You have a sense of justice, and we love that about you, so we already talked about this topic beforehand."

Mary decided to help her husband, "In fact, we talked about this a year ago. Seeing you grow up, we wanted to be part of that. You just grow up so fast, so we don't want to miss any moment more than we already had. Thus, we decided to distance ourselves to Team Rocket bit by bit. We won't do it in a rush but will be paced out eventually. To be frank, our boss, Giovanni, is a lot more laid back to his high-ranking employees, specifically the Executives and Elite Officers."

"He actually has an idea on what we plan to do, as he knows that we really wanted a family long before we went here. We talked to him about this, and he agreed on the note that we find our successor for our posts from the current Officers. After this, he would let us retire in the background, and only call us when he personally needs us." She paused before continuing, "We can't deny him that as he has helped us for a long time, son. I hope you understand." She carefully looked at her son with pleading eyes.

Paul nodded. "That's good. I hope that you won't get involved on Team Rocket anymore. I just don't want you guys to be in a precarious situation, which might risk your safety and health." He paused to look at his parents and said, "Thank you for thinking about me, always. I love you both." He said with a smile and proceeded on eating breakfast. 'Giovanni is really a charismatic man' Paul thought.

Mary and Joseph nodded in understanding while shooting him with their matching blinding smiles. A warm atmosphere could be felt throughout the breakfast of the Crimson Family Household.

Paul asked after the meal, "Before I forgot, what happened to the guys who stole your Butterfree and Pidgey? I mean they were Team Rocket Grunts, right? Did you find them?" He asked in succession.

The couple shared a knowing look before Joseph replied, "Ah… When we were promoted to Officers, as we weren't busy during those times, we also recalled those three gangsters from Viridian City. We actually found them, but they were already dead. It was said that they were killed by their own Pokemon, namely by a Butterfree and a Pidgeot. We also tried to find those two Pokemons, but we weren't able to."

Paul was stunned before laughing out loud. Getting the questioning look at his parents' face, he illuminated them, "What, they were basically the reason why both of you went to Team Rocket. I think they deserved what happened to them."

"Also, I feel bad that you guys weren't able to find the two Pokemons. Oh well, at least they felt happy before being free." He added with a smile.

Noticing that the look that was still on their faces, he continued, "Hey. I'm not cruel, it's just that karma bites you in the ass." He finished before laughing.

"Paul Crimson!" His mom screeched. "Language! Who taught you to speak such crass words?" Mary spoke seriously to her son while Joseph was laughing on the side. She gave her husband a look which eventually shut him up. "Well?" She asked again when Paul finally stopped laughing.

"Mom… that's just another word for buttocks!" Paul defended.

"Don't speak technicality with me young man! No, technically speaking, you're still a child, which is worse! You're still two and you're saying such vulgar words!" Mary chided.

"Now you're speaking technicality with me mom." Paul meekly muttered. As Mary heard him, she immediately shot him a glare that would scare Gengar out of hiding. Paul immediately relented, "Okay fine. I won't speak crass words, such as ass, again."

"Paul!" Now, Mary was fuming. Joseph laughed at his wife and son, thanking Arceus for another wonderful day with his family.

Joseph intervened, "Hey, hey. Stop arguing. You, Paul, immediately apologize to your mom." Paul instantaneously said "sorry". Hearing his son, he continued, "And honey," Joseph paused to look at his wife, "Stop shouting. You aren't pretty when you're yelling."

"Are you telling me I'm ugly?" Mary set her sight on her husband.

"Ummm…" Joseph blanched as he saw his son who was slowly inching out of the dining room. Paul saw his father's glance which looked like he was asking for help, he mouthed 'sorry' before finally going out of the door, with two Eevees in tow.
