Pokemon Battles
Right after Jake's match against Mr. Figg, Paul's turn immediately followed.
This time, Mr. Figg let out the pokemon from a random pick of a pokeball, in advance.
After the white light faded, a golden-brown, starfish-like Pokémon with five appendages appeared on the arena. The appendages surround an exterior core-like organ. The core resembles a golden metal casing with a red gem in the center, which is held in place by a golden ring looped around its lower left point.
"Hya~!"
The star shaped pokemon shouted, as it landed on the ground. Seeing this, Paul also let his respective pokemon for the day, out. Though, not forgetting to scan his opponent's pokemon.

"Grow~th!"
After Growlithe came out, Staryu shook imperceptibly. Only Paul noticed though, which means that this Growlithe's ability is active already.
Jake, after saying the normal introduction, saw Mr. Figg nod. Thus, he announced the start of the match.
"Let the match, begin!"
"Staryu, use Water Gun!"
"Growlithe, start with Agility!"
A jet of water came from the tip of Staryu, directed towards Growlithe. The canine pokemon, on the other hand, sped faster than normal as it approached Staryu. The star pokemon tried to track the Pokemon with [Water Gun] though it wasn't able to approach it one bit.
"Staryu, use Rapid Spin while maintaining the Water Gun!"
"Growlithe, use Flame Wheel!"
The two opposing trainers commanded successively.
As Staryu rapidly approaches the blazing speeding canine, Paul telepathically reminded to Growlithe, 'Once Staryu is near, I'll say now before you jump at the side and leap to its core.'
Trusting Growlithe, Paul shouted as Staryu was just a meter away.
"Now!"
The flaming canine pokemon shifted to the side and jumped at the moment of Paul's command, thus it almost exactly hit Staryu's core from its leap. As the two collided, the spinning pokemon was stopped, though they both fell to the left as they landed on the ground. Dust flew from the impact of the two pokemons' collision.
As the dust settled, all was able to see that Growlithe was pressing down Staryu.
Seeing that both pokemons were fine, though both quite battered from the earlier collision. Mr. Figg and Paul commanded immediately.
"Growlithe, use Bite!"
"Staryu, use Water Gun!"
Just before the star pokemon was able to eject [Water Gun], Growlithe was able to use [Bite] on its core first.
"Hya!"
It screamed as it endured to sprout [Water Gun] on Growlithe's face.
"Grow~!"
The canine pokemon whined as it flew a few meters away from Staryu. As it landed, both pokemons were fatigued and battered. Staryu, from the injury at its core, and Growlithe, from the effective [Water Gun].
"Growlithe, use Morning Sun!"
Paul instructed to the canine pokemon. Growlithe immediately glowed with light and could be seen noticeably recovering.
"Staryu, use Psybeam!"
Mr. Figg commanded as soon as Staryu stood back up. Though, it was a bit too late as Growlithe was already done casting [Morning Sun] and has currently recovered.
"Growlithe, Agility!"
Paul followed up from his previous instructions, thus Growlithe was able to dodge the [Psybeam], albeit closely. It then sped towards Staryu, intent on attacking the star pokemon.
'Use Bite when you get near Staryu.' Paul mentally instructed to Growlithe. Just as the canine got close to Staryu, Mr. Figg gave a command.
"Staryu, Confuse Ray!"
The star pokemon shot a ray composed of different colors shot towards Growlithe, as it bit towards Staryu. The move [Confuse Ray] took effect on the canine pokemon, as yellow ducks could be seen rotating above its head.
Though, as confused Growlithe may be, it was still able to use [Bite], again, on Staryu. It was the final straw that broke the camel's back as the star pokemon fell down in the ground, with its core dimming.
"Hya~"
It screamed as it fainted, due to Growlithe's attack.
"Staryu is unable to battle. The victor is Paul Crimson and Growlithe!"
The class applauded, although it was a little bit louder than the applause from the former battle. Amber and Steven looked quite happy with the result of their two friends' exams.
"Good job, Paul. That was a great match, I hope we could battle again sometime." Mr. Figg stated as he initiated a handshake to Paul.
"Of course, Mr. Figg. It would be my pleasure." The red head replied to his Battle Class Teacher, as he accepted Mr. Figg's handshake.
The next battles were a bit duller, as some students weren't that proficient in using their pokemon for the day. Mr. Figg was able to use his knowledge to beat the pokemon of most students, even if the species strength were a bit different. For example, the 3rd ranker, Dolores Scott's pokemon was a Beedrill. Though, she was still defeated by Mr. Figg with the help of a Squirtle.
Few were able to win against Mr. Figg, mostly, the students who are more inclined in battling and was influenced by their family such as Blair Embers, Page Olives, Damon Thorn, Rick Umber, and a few more others.
In total, there were 11 students that was able to win on a match with Mr. Figg, including those mentioned above, and the quartet. Amber was able to win against their teacher as she was able to defeat a Sandshrew. Steven, on the other hand, had a stable win as he confronted Mr. Figg's pokemon of the battle, Pidgeotto.
Overall, the 1st year class had 44% of win rate. That was a nice percentage if Paul was to be honest. Right after the exam, they went back to their routine as they went together to the Crimson Manor. Mostly, in order to review for the last days of exam, tomorrow. Though, they have no common minor subjects, besides Steven and Paul, they still had a good atmosphere for studying. Helping each other was a common thing for them too.
So, a day passed, and the final day of the exam week has finally arrived.
