New Friend
"Lucas Connor, he goes to the same school as Bella and he's parents recently died from food poisoning for now that's what it says on the post mortem report." Theo informed the others. "So you mean now he's an orphan. What about his new guardian?" Sarah asked.
"Strangely he has no guardian, he's been living alone for a while." Theo replied. "I don't trust this guy at all, we should keep an eye on him, if you find anything suspicious about him inform me." Mike said in a serious tone. "Lucas Connor, what's your real identity?" Mike said out loud.
"How do you guys know Lucas?" Bella asked in confusion. She heard what Mike said when she came. How did they know about him? I just met him today. I didn't even tell anyone about him. "Well someone from your school informed us about your encounter with him" Lia replied abruptly. "Why would someone tell you and first of all no one knows you guys are my friends". Bella asked suspiciously.
"Bella aren't you being a bit interrogative recently, besides he's from your school and he's going for the captaincy election. That's the only information we have of him" Sarah replied. "Stay away from him he doesn't seem nice." Mike said rather in a serious tone.
Is that why he said he's my rival?Why did Mike say he isn't nice? Lucas seems competitive but I don't care about the election at all. He can be the captain I'll step down." Earth to Bella, where are your thoughts? "Lia said snapping her fingers.
" Who's down for Pizza" Theo asked "I am" we said in unison. We left to grab some Pizza.
"What? I never said I'm paying, I just asked who who was down for it and to be honest Mike seemed more excited than all of us, he'll pay". With that said Theo left.
I looked at the girls and burst out laughing. We went out after Mike paid for the food. "Let's drop you home Bella".
I got home and went straight to my room and plopped on the bed. I closed my eyes for some time. I heard some mumbling from outside. I stood up from my bed and peeked out the window. I saw Michael and someone talking,but who I couldn't see the person. I could only a shadow because of the darkness outside. Michael stopped talking. He stiffened and then looked at me. As I was looking at Michael the other person left. Michael started coming home but he doesn't come out of his study. He's either in the office or in his study working.
I didn't even see that person leave. I just ignored it and went back to my bed. I don't know when I drifted to sleep. "Bella dear, your birthday is nearing sweetheart. Its time for you to reign. Your time has come to forsake this life and start your new life." I heard mom's voice." Mom where are you? I can't see you." I looked around and finally saw her,but I couldn't move or talk. In short I couldn't do anything but I could just see what's happening.
No! not another sleep paralysis! Why now when I want answers. God not now please. I saw my mom smiling faintly, eyes glossy from the tears,with that she faded. Darkness clouded me and I went back to sleep.
For the past few days I have been pondering about what happened that night. Was it a dream or something else. I couldn't seem to find the answers. I was so into my thoughts that I didn't realize I was already in school.
"Hi miss Cowell", someone said from behind me. Lucas! "its Bella, Mr Connor" I replied in the same tone. "Did I scare you the other day? To be honest that was my intention." He said with a smirk plaster on his lips.
"You wish you did Mr Connor but I'm not of those who are easily frightened. Anyways I was planning to step down from it." The smirk he had turned into a frown. "I wasn't interested in it initially so you can have it." I said proudly.
"Don't tell me you're already aware that I'll win. Don't be such a spoilsport how about we be friends then?" He asked. Silence fell upon us.
"So are you willing to be friends with me". His slender eyebrows cocked waiting for my reply. I don't mind having a friend besides I have not made any friends in this school. I thought to myself.
"I don't mind your proposal Mr Connor *ahem* I mean Lucas". He chuckled at my response and we shook hands. We walked to our class as we talked about some random things. I spent the whole day in school with Lucas.
We parted ways later on after an hour of Lucas insisting to drop me home. I told him about my friends dropping me off and it would be rude going with him without informing them.
"I told you not to befriend that Lucas guy Bella
Why don't you listen to what you are told, its for your own sake." Mike bellowed. His nose flared with anger. "Calm down Mike, you're scaring her."Sarah tried to calm him.
" You don't even know him how come you are judging him?" I asked furiously. "What do you mean by for my own sake, huh Mike?I'm not a child I can take of myself. Don't you yell at me again, this should be your first and last time Mike". I warned him and stomped off from there.
*************************X********************The room looked posh with the blue mosaic style tiles on the wall creating a marvelous pattern while the white coloured curtains contrasted with it. The turquoise porcelain tiled floor matched with the paintings on the wall giving a finishing look to the room. The painting gave off a mother nature feeling and it was so healing looking at them. Looking at the ceiling I pondered on today's events of befriending Lucas and my argument with Mike.
I got up and went to the washroom. I came out of the washroom and saw a text from unknown number.

I was getting ready to get some sleep after chatting with Lucas. Tomorrow was a Saturday and I had no school. So I was planning to sleep in.
I heard shuffling from outside before closing my eyes.
"Who is it? Lydia is that you? Look I'm tired right now. I'm not ready for any jokes right now". I said a little bit irritated. Who could it be if not her at this time. I'm already sleepy
"Bella its me open the door ". Came from the balcony. "Lucas what are you doing here at this time?" I whispered letting him in. "I wanted to see you". He said with a glint in his eyes. "Lucas but we were just chatting and we talked in school the whole of today . Do you have anything else to say?" I asked him curious.
He held my hand trying to feel something and then hugged me for a while. Not understanding his actions I pushed him away but I couldn't as if he was glued on me. Suddenly I didn't feel his weight on me. I saw Mike holding him by the neck from behind trapping him. "Who is it? Be a man and show me your face-why are you attacking me from behind" Lucas said gasping for
air.
"Mike can you leave him, you're hurting him. He'll die please leave him". I shook his arms vigorously trying to free his hold on Lucas. Mike whispered into his ear and then hit his neck which made Lucas lose his conscious.
