Amethyst sighed, "What is it?"

Scarlet was discharged yesterday and the event had happened the day before yesterday. She was able to clean up the mess and found that she really didn't have any loss.

Though because she wants to take full responsibility of helping Scarlet in completing her story, she decided to close her shop for now.

She really has no problem with the rent because she owned the building.

And now, as they talk more about the plot, Scarlet had been staring at her while having a goofy smile.

"I'm serious Scarlet, you have been staring at me for a while. What is it?" she asked again when Scarlet's smile only widened after her first question.

"I just want to ask, while I am in the hospital, you and my brother got really close, right?" Scarlet smiled and said.

Amethyst wanted to cover her eyes because if it was like in fantasy stories, Scarlet's eyes would be shinning right now.

She looks like a reporter who was able to sniff out some juicy news that she was now facing her subject.

"Tell me, tell me," Scarlet urged as Amethyst closed her eyes and looked away.

"First and foremost where did that come from?" Amethyst finally asked looking back at Scarlet, who was now looking like teenager having some gossip talks with her bestfriend.

"Do you think I wouldn't notice it? I may not be accompanying the two of you most of the time but Slate had been picking you up and dropping you off despite the fact that your destination is not to a place that is in my list," she replied with a pout.

Amethyst wanted to make a face palm at the way Scarlet speaks, "You are jumping to conclusions right now."

"I am not, I can see changes in the two of you," she rebuked.

Amethyst could only shake her head, "To be honest I never had a friend."

Scarlet blinked a few times after hearing this.

"Don't look too shock because it was the truth. I never had a friend when I entered my teenage years. I became an introvert when I was twelve," Amethyst said with a smile.

"How about school?" Scarlet couldn't help but ask.

"Nope, I was a loner at school until I was able to graduate. I look for group mates when we needed it but other than group activities, I never got close to anyone. They felt it too, that they chose to not come close as well. I was smart so I guess they were fine with me being closed off," Amethyst explained.

"Oh," was all Scarlet could react.

"Anyway, just as I said, I never had a friend. You and Slate could be called my very first ones. Indeed I was able to interact more with the people after I came here, I had a patron named Amanda in my shop but she was way older than me that I treat her more like an aunt than a friend. I have Mary my part time worker but that was where it ends."

Scarlet became teary eyes shocking Amethyst.

"Aren't you being a bit too emotional right now?" she chuckled as she regained from her shock.

"And what I and Slate have right now, for me, is the same as me having a close friend who looks out for me as well," she then continued.

"I'll introduce you to many more people," Scarlet sniffed.

"Hey, I don't need more friends if they weren't sincere about it. I am fine with creating ones through time," Amethyst handed her a tissue as she said this.

"Why are you being a crybaby right now?" Slate walked over and placed some sliced fruits in front of them.

Both ladies were stunned when he appeared.

"I have been by the door from the beginning, I just didn't expect that you would ask her the same question you were pestering me with," he said bopping Scarlet's head with his knuckle.

"I was curious and you weren't answering properly," Scarlet pouted making Amethyst chuckle.

"The outing will be this weekend," Slate just shook his head and looked at Amethyst before saying.

"Oh, then I will prepare," she replied with a nod.

"Outing? What are you guys talking about?" Scarlet asked as she never heard about any of this.

"About the water place you want for the story, remember I said I was planning to go to pool resorts," Amethyst said.

"Oh, you will be going with Slate's company outing?" Scarlet asked knowing that Slate will have some outing with his colleagues.

"Yeah," she answered.

Scarlet looked at Slate while he rolled his eyes at her, "Whatever you are thinking, stop jumping to conclusions and just focus on your story."

He then turned to get back to his room to prepare for his duty.

Scarlet slowly looked back at Amethyst and Amethyst could only shake her head as well, "Let's continue the discussion shall we?"

*****

Amethyst stepped out of the car carrying her bag pack, she can feel daggers and she didn't need to turn to know that it was that Clara person, whom she saw in teh hospital when Scarlet was admitted.

"I'll handle my entry, you go and do what your company arranged," she looked back at Slate and said.

He nodded his head and walked towards Gabriel, who was chosen as the team leader.

Amethyst spoke in the front desk and paid what she needs to pay before walking to the outside.

Upon coming out of the reception building, you will be in a balcony like place where the stairs leading down to the pools are.

She stood there and looked down at the pools below.

"You have your cottage?" Slate asked beside her.

"Hmmm, yeah, I have. What do you plan?" she asked looking at him as he stood beside her, looking at the pools as well.

"Help me out," he said.

He glanced back and the daggers she felt had returned that she knew what he meant.

She chuckled, "Here's the number."

She knew he was asking her to let him accompany her in her cottage.

"Are going down now?" he asked after getting the number.

"You go ahead, I want to stay here for a bit more."

"Give me your bag," he said gesturing for her bag.

She handed him and looked back at the pools.

As she stared at them she felt as if her vision became tunneled and all she could see was the water.

'I decided to get over every trauma I could have but as far as I am now, I am actually feeling more and more suffocated,' she thought as she could only stare blankly at the pools.

"...vans?"

'I wanted to overcome everything that I pushed through with this but would I be able to do so?'

"... Evans?"

She started taking deep breaths.

"Miss Evans?"

She snapped out of her thoughts when she heard her name being called.

Upon looking back, she saw Gabriel standing behind her.

"Yes?" she asked trying to smile.

"Are you alright?" he asked.

She smiled again, "Yes, I am just thinking about something."

"Oh, okay. By the way, since you are accompanying Slate, you can join us anytime," Gabriel invited her.

"Thank you fo the invitation," she said.

*****

"Slate, is there something wrong with Miss Evans?" Gabriel approached Slate, who was in the cottage next to theirs.

Amethyst's cottage.

"What do you mean?" he asked looking up.

"Upon coming up a while ago, I passed by her as she stared blankly at the pools then as I was returning she was still in teh same position. I called to her and it took me a while before she heard me," Gabriel explained.

"Oh, she must be doing something related to the reason she came. I'll check on her later," Slate nodded his head and said.

Gabriel nodded his head in return before going back to their cottage.

Slate looked up once again and watched Amethyst who was staring downwards, particularly in the pools.
