Chapter 37: Seemed To Have Gotten Older

The days seemed short as Amethyst waited for the three days that Eduard had said.

It was a convention so a dress was already there.

It was an A-line high neck knee-length tulle royal blue dress.

She was supposed to wear a much simpler one but Scarlet insisted that she wear something different. And so, she was pulled into a shopping spree.

At first Scarlet was choosing a lot of dresses for her but she was glad she was able to stop her. In the end she was able to find this dress that suits hers and Scarlet's taste perfectly.

She also ended up buying a black stiletto to match it. She wasn't fond o heels but she an wear them just fine.

"You're nervous," Scarlet commented noticing that she had been taking dee breaths or quite a while now.

"I shouldn't be the one running, I know but, in the end, I am still scared? I don't know. It has been so long and I haven't seen them in so long... I already said long. Anyway, not even in pictures or videos. Or even in social media that I actually have no idea I can face her or not or I can show my face to her or not. Everything seems a mess and my heart is practically thumping like crazy that even my mind I turning blank. I was preparing for this whole three days but in the end, I wasn't even prepared. IknowallofyouwantedtohelpmebutIjustcouldn't-"

"Okay, okay. Breath Amethyst, breath."

Scarlet chuckled, Amethyst was not the serious type or the jolly the type. She was in between but this was the first time she had seen Amethyst so out of it.

"Come here and sit down for a bit," she pulled her towards the sofa.

Amethyst followed her, she took a deep breath as she went to the sofa. She had been walking back and forth as she spoke a while ago and it seems she had walked far from her original position which is close to the sofa.

"Do you not want to do this?" Scarlet asked first.

Amethyst thought for a bit before nodding her head.

"Do you hate the idea of seeing her?"

Amethyst shook her head, it was true she didn't hate it. She couldn't find that negative emotion in her whenever she thinks about seeing Emerald tonight.

"Do you not want to see her?"

Amethyst couldn't think of a response.

Scarlet smiled and held her hand, "It is because you separated in the most painful way. She had betrayed you and everyone was on her side. So facing them now would surely give you fear of the pain that you have felt back then and not because of who they are."

"Are you ready?"

Just then Slate came in, coming from his work, and asked seeing her already wearing the dress.

"Not entirely, plus we still have time," she replied.

He nodded his head and went to his room.

A few minutes later, Eduard came with the invitation.

"You guys ready?" he asked with a smile.

"We aren't going in a war or something," Slate replied fixing the cuff of his sleeves.

Eduard shrugged, "Very well. Go on and have fun then."

"I'll wait for your good news," Scarlet said as she waved her hand at them.

Slate shook his head before wearing his coat and walking ahead, Amethyst bid them farewell before following him.

"Still nervous?" Slate asked as they parked in the parking space at Hotel Elizabeth where the event will be held.

"You heard our conversation?" she looked at him and said.

He shrugged, "I had been at the door since you started ranting."

She could only put her hand on her face, "How embarrassing."

Slate had on an imperceptible smile as he glanced at her, he then placed a hand on top of her head.

"You will be fine, you weren't a vengeful person that you would end up looking trouble for yourself," he then said before alighting from the car.

She looked at his back before blinking a few times, then she too alighted from the car.

"Let's go," he said as he put forward his arm for her to hold onto.

She placed her hand in it and nodded her head.

Upon entry she was welcome with a lot of faces she was seeing only in news or in social media. They were authors that are both publicly popular and popular only within their circle.

"You were attending this on her stead? Wow," she commented.

Books of these authors were also being displayed around the place, in each table where foods and drinks are as well.

"Unfortunately, yes," was his reply before they went to a table where no one is yet to sit.

She looked at his face and giggled, "You were approached by so many ladies, weren't you?"

He gave her a sharp look before helping her on her seat, making her laugh in response.

"Well, at the very least I can help you here right now," she said with confidence.

"I'm looking forward to how you will do that," he replied as he too sat down.

The event wasn't too formal, they aren't following too much of a schedule and they could even roam around while at some point, the hosts will call a few authors up stage in order to ask them a few questions.

And of course, this is the reason why Amethyst had come, Emerald as Astral will surely be part of those who will be called on stage for some questions.

Not only because she had published a book after her five years hiatus but also because of a reason Eduard had given them, the content of the book that has two different writing styles.

This was a reason that only a few in the writing world knew of.

So, Amethyst patiently waited until Emerald was indeed called on stage.

Both of them doesn't look entirely similar but they have a few features that are the same.

Slate glanced at her when Emerald was on stage, seeing as she wasn't too affected, he returned his eyes on stage.

Amethyst, on the other hand, was shock that she actually didn't feel that much of pain in her heart now that she is looking at Emerald in person.

As compared to when she left five years ago and before she started walking forward again.

'I guess, I was really healing without truly realizing it,' a smile appeared on her face as she thought of this.

She really was healing and she was happy to know of it.

If that is true then sooner or later, she would be able to get her fingers back on the keyboard without them.

With this she would be able finally continue her dream that was cut off five years ago.

And maybe this time, she will get the chance to actually be herself and show her face as the author of the stories she will be writing.

"Let us now welcome our author who had just published her newest book after five years of hiatus with her penname astral, miss Emerald Evans."

Emerald, who has been on the side of the stage, walked over to the center where the hosts are.

"Thank you for inviting me in this event and giving me a chance to share my thoughts here on stage..."

Amethyst stared at her sister as emerald give her speech, her mind with actually blank but her heart was actually calm. She just has no thoughts because Emerald's speech was a normal one given by someone on stage.

All Amethyst could think of is that Emerald seemed to have gotten older as compared to the news before the publishing of her new book.
