"Are you showing off that you are a super studious one by coming here with those books?" This time it was another girl. "Senior Rena, I swear, this girl has been such a pain in the neck throughout middle school. And look at her, she still came here to create a hell out of our high school life."
When the two of them talked, the one who seemed to be the 'Senior Rena', that girl mentioned, kept silent all the time. After those two stopped talking, Rena moved forward to the girl sitting helplessly on the ground.
Rena was tall, with a pair of long slender legs, and a perfectly proportionate body, with evident curves on her figure. The big round eyes, long eyelashes, and fair skin made her look shiny like a bright jewel. Her skin was so smooth it could practically reflect the sunshine, making her look brighter than ever. The long strides she put ahead seemed equally powerful as if she were some kind of royalty.
But the most unique part about her was her hairstyle. She had short hair perfectly styled; in a manner that made the back end of her hair barely reach her hairline, and the front part was long up to her chin, completely framing her face, with some part of her bangs resting on her forehead. The strange part of it was, keeping short hair those days was like a taboo to the parents of Gotham city, thinking that only ill-bred or some kind of delinquent kids do it. So, Rena's royal queen-like posture was a total contradiction to her hairstyle, giving off a rebellious vibe.
'So… cool!'
Airi always wanted to have this strong, rebellious kind of aura in her, and this hairstyle was one of her desires she could never dare to express to her family, let alone fulfilling it. So, definitely, someone actually doing it was a huge event for her. And for her, that senior looked like someone out of the world, and so cool.
Airi noticed the crowd around her, and she could see boys practically gawking and drooling over that senior.
'There is no way she isn't the school goddess. Look at these boys.'
Rena stretched out a hand to the girl on the ground and helped her to stand on her own feet. "Well, well, aren't you just a first year? What's there much to study that you have to literally hang a book in front of your eyes on the very first day?"
She said those words in a bit of a mocking tone. "You make me look like I just goofed around all two years, and just like that, I was promoted to senior year, hah! Cause I never studied my butt off at least on regular days."
Rena's voice was quite loud, which made the timid-looking girl flinch and tremble. Maybe in fear or embarrassment? Who knows...
Seeing the girl trembling, Rena sneered at her, "Well, well, I heard there's this trend nowadays going on of high school boys falling for studious, nerdy types more. Don't tell me, you showed up looking like a nerd, with all those braids and glasses, just to grab some pretty little chickens from this flock?" She pointed at the crowd around her.
The timid girl still kept her eyes down all this time, not saying a word back.
"Not going to talk now? Putting on a timid, weak act?" Rena couldn't stop her laughter anymore as she turned towards the boys standing there, watching the ruckus. "Shall we test it out then?"
She pulled one boy by his collar and brought him in front of that girl. "Now now, little pup, tell me, would you like to date this type of kitten? Or the type of wild cats who could rule over you?"
Rena definitely meant herself as she said those, and that was clear as a day to Airi, and probably to the rest of the students present there too.
The boy replied with a shy look on his face, "There is no way anyone could ever choose others over you, senior Rena."
Rena had a pleased look on her face hearing that reply. Yet she acted like she was surprised and embarrassed getting that answer. "Oh shut it, boy. Such a flirty little puppy you are."
'What an obvious act. She totally expected that answer from the boy.'
Then Rena looked back at the girl with a triumphant smirk. "See, the effort you have tried to pull out there, doesn't work girl. Well, if you got something on you, then probably it would. But no one even f*cks around nerds." She stepped on a book lying there as she glared at the already scared girl, "so next time, don't you dare pull this kind of h*t here ever again. And if you have to walk, keep the goddamn balls of your eyes straight on the road. You see, no one gives a sh*t to some blind or cripple's ass."
Saying all of these without even breaking eye contact, Rena made it clear that she was the crownless queen here, who rules on every one of them.
"Well, a rude bully queen that is, " Airi concluded that this senior she got to know about in the very first hour of her high school, was a potent evil witch of this castle named Sandra High.
When Rena and her two minions disappeared from that place, the huge crowd dissipated as if it was never there, to begin with.
As if that naive, nerdish-looking girl never existed, to begin with.
"At least they could help the girl out." Airi looked at the girl who was still standing there, without a movement. And after noticing for a while, Airi could see tears rolling down her cheeks.
'God! Why is she crying there doing nothing?'
"Hey, you!" Airi couldn't see this any more as that girl was making herself look more miserable.
The girl looked back at Airi in response to her call.
"Do you think just standing there like a doll, and crying would sort this? Do you think people here are going to help you pick that mess down there?"
Airi's sudden burst out made some of the previous onlookers look back at them.
And the girl in question looked at Airi with a dumbfounded face.
"Just pick those and go wherever you were going, geez! If you are like this, then no wonder you get that kind of behavior."
With that, Airi left that place and went inside the building, without even looking back at the girl she just scolded, for probably apparent no reason.
"Ahh! Why did I do that! Whatever happens to the girl, what does that matter to me? I am not supposed to be engaged in some mess." Airi kept regretting scolding that girl and kicking herself for that.
"I just need to study, get a good score, be in the center of all the good stuff, and graduate. Yeah, that's right. No need to engage in those bantering and all." She made a mental note about it and searched on the notice board for her allotted class. She found her name allotted on class 1-C, and beside the class name was the room number mentioned. "Room 203 then. Why 203? Normally juniors are put on the ground floor, right? Well, who cares, let's just get going."
Upon reaching her classroom, she got another wave of awe in front of her. The classroom ahead was so big that she couldn't help gawking at it for an abnormally long while. "This is huge! Oh my God! Even if I take up two of my middle school classrooms, that wouldn't make even a half of this one."
She immediately wiped off that impressed goofy look on her face, "Well, you have reached there, if you want to be cool and all, you got to act like one." She breathed in a generous amount of air to calm her palpitating excited heart down. "So here I go."
She entered the classroom. The classroom was truly big and spacious enough, with benches arranged nicely and neatly. The entire room gave off a wealthy and clean aura, which made Airi more and more excited. She had to try her utmost to calm down, "Calm down, calm down. Act cool, Airi. Can't let others see how weirdly nervous and excited I am."
"Hey, the girl with the pink ribbon!"
Airi's breath almost stopped at the mention. 'Pink ribbon, is that me?'
Airi looked back normally as if she wasn't turning back to that call. There she saw that girl who was tugging at her sleeve not to talk recklessly just a while back.
When the girl noticed that Airi looked back, she waved her hands to her, "Yes you!" And she gestured to her to come to her.
Airi first kept her bag on an empty seat around her. After taking her time to put the bag down, she approached that girl.
