Abdo Ghoul was born in Libya but his family moved to the Congo where he lived most of his childhood. at the age of twelve he saw a friend playing video games and he heard his friend talking about how some people can play games for a living. Abdo become bewitched by the idea of becoming a professional player of esports.
Abdo's family wasn't wealthy but they had some money and they impulse him to follow his dreams. at the age of twenty-one Abdo was already a professional esports player and one of the most famous on the world. but that wasn't enough to him. he was famous but he wasn't the best one.
at the age of twenty-four Abdo moved to America to live in there for some time. at that point he had forgotten about his family and friends. at that time the only thing in the head of Abdo was to keep his wealth and fame. he was getting too old for esports and it was then when he found the Son of Sun games.
because in Son of Sun you don't need of your body but your mind it became clear for him that there was a way to keep doing what he loves to do. he invested in some business knowing that he was going to make some money. he also invested in the Son of Sun games. Abdo found an opportunity to keep doing the things that he loves to do.
one day Abdo received a call letting him know that his father was really sick with a fever. Abdo ignored the call and some months later he was call to be informed about his father's death. he never went to the funeral of his father.
as a kid Abdo was an honest and good kid but the taste of fame and money affected him. the taste of things that you have never felt before can take over your mind and make you forget about your origins. it has happen to many who came with nothing on their pockets and they started to make so much money that they can't even finish counting the money.
Abdo was obsessed with becoming a legend in the world and he was also obsessed with his fear to age or lose his fame. Abdo use to spend a lot of money on the most expensive liquors, on the most expensive clothing, on the most expensive cars, watches, and even houses in different countries when he was living alone. he knew how to invest money on good business but he also used to spend a lot of money on the kind of luxury that he always dreamed to have.
the life that he was living was on the limit. one day he decided to call to his family just to received that news that both of his parents were dead and his siblings didn't wanted to know anything from him. he try to call every single one of is siblings and the response of all of them was the same 'you are dead to us.'
when Abdo was about twenty-nine years old he started to see the life he lived as insignificant. he lived on the luxurious lifestyle that he always wanted to have, but it was at this point that he understood how pointless it was to have luxury if you don't have with who shared that luxury.
Abdo tried to change his life by starting to donate money to organizations that help others around of the world. he started to found schools, hospitals and more. he was changing his life for the better but there was one thing that never change on him and that was his desire to keep playing and he kept investing money on the Son of Sun games.
one day Abdo was on the streets and he saw a lady in about her twenties running away from a guy. Abdo hides behind a dumpster as he sees a group of guys that belongs to some sort of gang and they are surrounding the girl. Abdo was about to call the cops when one of the guys looks directly at him in the eyes.
the guy makes a sign letting him know that is better for him to not call the cops nor to get on their way. Abdo is in silence questioning his own morals. that guy in sign language lets him know that he can watch and enjoy of the show for free.
two guys are dragging another guy in front of the lady. the guy that was dragged seems to be badly wound and he admits to be a cop. the lady screams in horror and the cop is being beat up in front of her. that guy who was been watching Abdo's reaction to the situation is one of the strongest members of the gang. that guy cuts the throat of the police officer.
the young lady screams in horror as she asks for forgiveness. one guy says that he wants to 'play with her' but the leader has other plans for her. he asks to the guy who speaks sign language to burned her alive. that guy showers the young lady in gasoline and before anything else happened they heard the sound of patrols going towards them. they run away.
Abdo is breathing fast as he tries to run away from the situation. he tries to run as fast as he can like if his soul was about to left his body until he realized that he was on a bridge. he looks at his watch and he sees that he has been running for two hours.
Abdo went back to his luxurious department in a huge building that he owns. the building is use for a business that a friend of his is running and he sleep in the only department in the tower.
the next day two cops were outside of his department knocking on the door. Abdo opens the door and the cops informed him that they know that he was a witness to the crime that took place that night. Abdo was afraid of what might happened to him but he was too scared of that gang members to even accept the truth. at this moment the desire to stay alive was stronger than his morals. he denies to had been present that night.
the cops tell him that he is going to be well protected. they insist that a public figure like him can't be touch by some gang members. the cops almost beg for his help as a witness to the crime that happened that night. Abdo could see that without him it was hard for them to take those criminals behind bars.
"sorry, but I am a not taking place in this."
the cops keep insisting until they see that Abdo was too much of a coward to even do anything even with evidence. the cops leave him. Abdo felt save once they were gone. he knew that the only way to not put his life or career on danger was to stay away from the city for some time.
Abdo bought some plane tickets. the idea was to leave the country for some days and come back soon. when he was on the plane he received many messages. he looked at his phone and some of the messages were full of hate.
Abdo did't understood what was going on until a friend told him to look at a video. Abdo searches for that video and he finds a video in which Abdo is hiding behind a dumpster while a man is killed and a woman is almost murder. in the video Abdo didn't do anything but to watch.
"what the fuck? who the fuck recorded me?"
Abdo remembered that there is a fan who has been stalking him. he never cared before because the stalker never did anything to him. he only followed him everywhere but he never expected to be followed that night.
Abdo is drinking water as he thinks in his reputation which is going to be ruined after the controversy that the video is going to bring. Abdo keeps drinking water thinking that everything is going to be resolved by itself.
Abdo was on a beach for two weeks. in that time he went to the beach to stay in there for four hours and then he would go back to the hotel. he didn't do much nor he wanted to see anybody. all that Abdo did was to be in the beach and in his hotel room.
in his return to the city Abdo received a call from the cops asking him to go to the police station to be interrogated about the video. Abdo accepted and he went in there and to avoid further problems he explained how he felt threatened and fear in the presence of those gang members. he also admits that he didn't saw well the faces of them that night.
Abdo went back to his department in his tower. one day on the news he saw that some of the gang members were arrested. the lady who was the victim and the main witness of the events of that night was admitted in a mental hospital to be treated after the trauma that she experience that night.
one day Abdo went to the hospital to visit her and he beg for her to accept his apologies for not being strong enough to do anything when that happened. he left the hospital feeling better after she accepted his apology. on his way to the tower he received a message that he didn't like at all.
when he arrived at his tower it was on flames. the fireman tried to save the building but there was nothing they could do. once the fire had ended he was told that there were corpses inside of the building. it looks like his friend was having his birthday party when the fire started and they all died burned alive.
the two cops where waiting for him on a car. Abdo asks them if they wanted something. he was told that the fire wasn't an accident. he was told that is probably that the fire was started by the same guys who appeared on the video. Abdo yields at them asking them if they didn't arrest them all. the cops told him that there are four of the guys who are still fugitives at this moment. one of the cops receives a call and he answers.
"what can be so important to ignored me when I am talking to you. answer me. my friend is dead because I saw a crime and I didn't know how to react to it."
yields Abdo completely tired of everything.
"she is dead. she 'committed suicide.' this case is hell."
said one of the police officers.
Abdo thank them for everything and he left. he took his wallet out of his pockets and he counted the money in it. Abdo went to a hotel to sleep. he was so tired of everything that he only wanted to sleep and forget everything.
the next morning he saw the news about her. they found her on the hospital hanging with her neck broken. he found news about two of the fugitive gang members being killed while trying to run away from the police.
everything was about to end soon. but not every end is peaceful or simple. someone knocks on the door and Abdo opened the door expecting the cops. the same guy who saw him that night was right now at the other side of the door with a gun aiming at him.
"you are that guy from that night."
"I see so you are not stupid."
"are you here to kill me? why if I never talked about that night?"
"I was never going to let you live."
"but why? I did what you wanted me to do. I didn't call the cops that night nor I helped the cops. it was someone else who called the cops that night and it was someone else who released that video."
"that is not the point. I kill because I want to and not because I care for other things. I kill for fun and that night I chose you as my victim. no matter what could or could not happen you were chosen for me to die today. this was the wanted outcome and if you thought otherwise is because you are a coward."
that guy takes a machete from the floor and he cuts Abdo in the shoulder. Abdo falls on his knees waiting for his death. he closes his eyes and he hears a gun shot. he opens his eyes to see that guy bleeding from his neck. that guy refuses to releases the machete and the cop shoots at him multiple times until he falls on the floor dead. Abdo is surprised looking at the cop. he is all covered on the blood of the dead criminal.
four year later at the age of thirty-six Abdo had lost everything. he lost fame and money. he was barely surviving and he had become an alcoholic who spend more of his days drinking. he didn't looked like a thirty-six years old. he seemed at least ten years older and he was lifeless. one day he walked in front of a bridge with the idea of jumping and ending it all.
he was asked by someone if he wanted to play one last game. a game that can change his life. there was a small light on Abdo's eyes. that strange person asked him if there was something that he regrets or something for what he feels guilt.
"my life. my entire life is full of regret and guilt."
the strange guy guided him to a place in which he let Abdo play the last game of Son of Sun. as Abdo was playing he died of a heart attack.
