It must be pirates

At the moment both Jericho and Jay stepped foot back on their ship. Sky had called them but did not give them a reason.

"Here, in my quarters." Sky signaled to them to enter the Captain's quarters.

Both of them nodded and entered his room. Both saw Jules was already inside the ship sitting on the ground and wet as she had recently left the sea. Sky closed the door after making sure no one followed him.

"What is it, Sky?" Jericho asked.

"One year from now we are going to the Land of the Gods." Sky said.

Hearing him they couldn't believe it, and they even thought they misheard him.

"What was that, Captain?" Jay asked.

"We are going to the Land of the Gods within a year from now. That is our destination, but I also know this carries a huge risk to our lives, we could almost die and there is no way I can't protect you. So I am giving you guys an option to leave now. If you leave I will give you 50 million shells each… no, make that 100 million shells each, that is more than enough for you to start new families, and never having to worry about money ever again."

"Does that include-"

"No, Jules, you don't have a say in this." Sky interrupted Jules, "This option is only for Jay and Jericho only."

Juled looked down and pouted. It seemed like she was going to the Land of the Gods whether she liked it or not.

"Captain, why are you going there? You know I love adventure but that seems too risky at the moment."

"I have… a good reason I cannot say, just trust me on this."

"Well, Captain, if that's the case I am going." Jay didn't hesitate to accept after all.

"Well that was easy, are you sure? I know to get inside but I don't know if we can come back."

Jay's mouth opened but no words came out.

"Can we… stop by my home before we go to the Land of the Gods? I wanna bid my family farewell just in case." Jay said.

"Of course we can. What about you, Jericho, do you want to come with us?" Sky turned to Jericho.

"I… I really want to go as well, especially after everything you've done for me and my family." Jericho smiled.

"Is that a yes or no?"

"It's a yes."

"Wow I was gonna give you guys the rest of the day to think about it but this is good as well. Here."

Sky placed down 20 purple scrolls on the ground, shocking everybody.

"Captain… where did you get all these scrolls?" Jay was shocked. The Caribbean would literally kill them if they knew they carried all these scrolls.

Jules leaned over to take a closer look after almost losing her balance and falling over. Jericho stared at the scrolls with her mouth open.

Unbeknownst to them Sky had kept 10 scrolls to himself.

"Split these between yourselves. All of these will increase your stats dramatically. Use them wisely. I even drew a on the corners of each scroll what stats they increase since you guys cannot read the language."

Sky left the room and closed the door. Out of the thirty scrolls only one had a single ability and he immediately ripped the scroll to obtain its skill.

{Purple scroll: Slow time lvl 1: Slows time by 10%}

{Mana cost: 10% max mana per minute}

This ability was insanely powerful and even more so when leveled up, but the cost was simply too high. Luckily for him his system made it so that his mana regenerated faster compared to others due to having many abilities that helped him, abilities that he learned and earned.

"I hope I made the right choice in choosing the correct scrolls to increase my stats." Sky looked at his hands and clenched them.

{Sky Rouge}

{Level 204}

{HP: 715k/715k}

{Mana: 237k/237k}

{Str: 25k Dex: 25k Spd: 23k Int: 27k Mind: 47k Vig: 71k}

Seeing his stats jump up by leaps and bounds showed him just how powerful one can be in the Land of the Gods. The fact that Madame was easily willing to part with 30 purple scrolls showed how insignificantly weak they were right now.

All 30 purple scrolls gave him stats over 20,000 each, some of which gave him the maximum amount of stats which is 25,000. Madame had given him high quality scrolls because some purple scrolls can give only 1,000 stat points.

'I might be several times stronger now but compared to that Xero guy and Boris, I am no match for them yet.'

Sky also pondered on what Madame said to him, the Abyss family is looking to kill him. Sky thought it was because he cursed Balthazar with a powerful curse, but it could be something else entirely.

Sky took out an item that he thought he would use, a book he stole from the library.

{Slave contract: lvl 1: {REQUIRES LEVEL 9 DEAD LANGUAGE TO LEARN)

Originally he really wanted to learn this skill, but he realized he simply had too many skills and simply cannot take the time to level them up. This skill was simply too good to pass up but he had other skills to focus on first, mostly combat related skills.

'Hold on… Doesn't Jericho's sister know the dead language?' Sky thought of a use Jericho's older sister, Katelyn, could be to him even if she doesn't have a talent.

"I'll ask her later if she's interested in a job." Sky walked to the island to go get something to eat.

By the time Jay, Jules, and Jericho had left the Captain's quarters two hours had passed and they felt like they could take on the world with their newfound strength.

"Jay… I feel incredibly strong." Jericho jumped several times feeling faster, stronger, with a clearer mind. It was amazing how a couple of purple scrolls could change them so much.

"I feel the same way." Jay punched the air a couple of times, each time he punched the air he could feel strong gusts of wind being produced from his punches. They were so strong their clothes and hair were fluttering violently from the air alone.

Jericho pulled one of the cannonballs towards her using her magnetism. Before it used to be tough as cannons are very heavy, but pulling one towards her was very easy. She controlled the cannonball like it was nothing and played with it, making it circle around her, she would then split it into several hundreds of pieces and control them masterfully.

Jericho not only has more experience and mana, but thanks to the system her skill level increased significantly as this is the one skill she uses constantly.

She then pulled three more cannonballs to her, and yet they were easy for her to manipulate and control with ease. She even disassembled them and formed an even bigger ball by combining them. After she was done she turned them back and gently placed them back where they belong.

"Nice." Jay said, amazed by her skill.

"Thank you."

Just then Jules walked right past them and jumped back to the water without saying a word.

"I'm going back to my family before we leave." Jericho said. As happy as she was with her newfound strength she wanted to spend this last day with her family, as this might be the last time she sees them.

"I'll go with you."

"So… Jay, you gonna ask my sister out or what?" Jericho smirked as she leaned for an answer.

"What? Well… maybe?" Jay smiled and scratched the back of his head out of embarrassment.

"Rooting for you! This might be the last you have before you leave."

"That is true… but wait, wouldn't that be bad? I mean wouldn't it suck if I asked out your sister and then we never see each other again?"

"I… you have a point." Jericho scratched her chin trying to appear as if she's in a deep thought.

"Unless I can convince the Captain to invite her to the crew."

"I would agree but that is too dangerous for my sister."

"Right… dammit! If only we were stronger we could protect her!" Jay said seriously.

They both arrived back home. To their surprise they saw Sky at the house eating with Mabel and Katelyn.

Sky waved at them not speaking due to having his mouth full of boiled veggies. They noticed Mabel looked at them with a small smile on her face, she tried to act happy but failed.

"Oh, Sky. Everything okay?" Jericho asked because of her mom.

"Hey, guys." Katelyn came to greet them with a smile on her face.

"Why are you so happy?" Jericho asked.

"Well… Sky offered me a job I couldn't refuse! And he paid me handsomely!" Katelyn was beyond happy.

"A job?" Jericho looked at Sky wondering if he gave her a risky job,

"Relax." Sky could tell what they were thinking, "I didn't make her an official member of the crew, I just hired her to write down slave contracts for a year." Sky continued to eat.

Sky did think of recruiting Katelyn as a crew member, but why would he? He can barely protect the other three members with thousands of stat points, not to mention Katelyn.

"He paid her 10,000,000 shells for the entire year." Mabel said.

Mabel was happy for her daughter to land a job, but she felt horrible that Sky had given them even more money on top of what he already paid for, she felt as if they were taking advantage of him by taking so much money.

For comparison, an ordinary waiter can earn a yearly income of 70,000-90,000 shells.

"Oh… thought it would be less." Jericho nor Jay were fazed by the amount anymore.

Katelyn was more than happy to take the job. She has always wanted to work with translating the words from the Dead language, never did she think she would be writing down slave contracts but since she is highly experienced and the pay was more than generous she had no reason to refuse Sky's offer.

"Oh, right, Katelyn, use this." Sky handed Katelyn the book for writing slave contracts. Since she is not the player she cannot learn it immediately.

"Thanks. I will get to it!" Katelyn didn't waste time and ran to her room.

Sky didn't stop her and continued to eat. Mabel's cooking was higher than before and her food was incredibly delicious.

The rest of the day went on as if nothing had happened. No one mentioned the purple scrolls, the Land of the Gods, nor did Sky mention about the black scroll. The parasite's abilities were still unknown at the moment but he couldn't wait to test it out on a monster soon to see what it does.

They all soon went to bed. Sky was in bed practicing slowing down time and summoning parasite at the same time.

'Seriously I have an insane number of skills now, this can't be a good thing, right? Personally I think it's more important to focus on a few skills and max them rather than get a bunch of lvl 1 skills.' Sky's mind wandered as he practiced.

{Bloodlust detected}

Sky immediately stood up from the bed. The bloodlust wasn't directed at him or anyone at this house, but he could sense it. What's more is that it wasn't just one person exhibiting bloodlust but a lot of people, and the numbers continue to grow.

Very quickly he went to his crew members to alert them.

Meanwhile…

Five warships were docked to the island. The Caribbean officers in charge of night guard duty had their mouths covered by one hand while their throats were slit open by people using the shadow sneak skill to sneak up on them.

The way those people killed those night guards was flawless and no one was left to alert anyone else as the rest had gone to sleep.

The five warships had hundreds of people jump off the ship on the island all carrying weapons, they are pirates. They all spread out without making a noise which was uncommon for a group of such size full of uncivilized pirates.

Just then two night guards who were slacking off from their work walked into a group of pirates and they were all shocked.

"Uhh… hi." One of the pirates smiled and greeted them.

"OH SHIT! FREEZE!" They both drew out their weapons seeing they were obviously pirates, but the pirates pounced on them.

BANG BANG

Shots were fired that could be heard around the island waking up and alerting everybody of gunfire. The pirates took that as a type of sign which now made them cause as much violence as possible and steal everything they could. They already knew it was a matter of time before the entire island was alerted of their presence.

The pirates broke down windows and doors to get into buildings to steal and kill and kidnap. Those who fought back were killed, those who were too weak to fight were chained and captured.

Soon all the Caribbean soldiers woke up and immediately took action. Soon the entire island was engulfed in a battle.

"Grab all the people and shit you can find! If you wanna pay back your student debts then grab as much as you can! AHAHAHA!" One of the pirates yelled while laughing maniacally amidst the chaos as he shot fireballs after fireballs setting fire to every building.

Their main purpose was to steal, but they loved to burn and blow up more than stealing..

Tristan Marks, one of the highest rank officers and strongest on the island quickly took charge. He was the first to fight the pirates without hesitation.

He grabbed a nearby sword while summoning an ice trident on another hand. He came face to face with two pirates.

"Why are you guys here?" Tristan asked, trying to get some intel, he even used the eye of truth on them.

"Student loan debt, duh!"

Tristan frowned, he wasn't lying.

Just then Tristan would hack down the two pirates before running to fight more, soon there wasn't a single Caribbean officer on the island that wasn't fighting back.

Four pirates were raiding the nicer houses and one of them pointed to a particular house.

"Go kill anyone that's inside!"

As one of them reached for the door handle a great force pushed the door open tearing it off its hinges and being launched several feet away along with the pirate.

They all stared in awe as to who could have such power, only to see that the one behind the door was a little girl. She had no emotion in her eyes but they could tell she was angry.

One of them quickly threw a fireball at Jericho. Jericho merely swatted the fireball away like it was a fly.

{Jericho Haydie}

{Level 120}

{HP: 270k/270k}

{Mana: 500k/500k}

{Str: 23k Spd 31k Dex: 92 Int: 100k Mind: 68k Vig: 27k}

Jericho had taken the majority of the intelligent and mind scrolls as it benefited her the most. Her dex stat remained the lowest at 92.

"You wanna kill my mama?" Jericho said with no emotion, but the thought of it made her feel beyond angry but she wasn't able to show it.

Just then the metallic weapons on their bodies moved by themselves, turned into hundreds of tiny spiky balls, and pierced their owners from their backs as they entered their bodies. Though it was brief they all felt their insides were being shredded, a horrible and painful death.

They all dropped dead in pain and agony.

Just then Sky and Jay exited the building in shock. Truth is they were prepared to kill those pirates but Jericho beat them to it.

"One of you should stay back and take care of Mabel and Katelyn." Sky suggested.

"I'll do it." Jericho walked back inside the house without saying much.

"She's really angry." Sky said.

"I am, too, they wanted to kidnap Katelyn and kill Mabel." Jay said with a frown.

"Agreed."

Just then more than ten pirates ran towards them. As they were busy raiding other houses the sight of their crew members' dead bodies lying on the ground caught their attention.

"KILL THOSE TWO!"

At that time they were prepared to cast their spells, curses, and draw their weapons.

"I got this, Captain." Jay took out some ammunition from his pocket and grabbed exactly ten. He flung all the bullets at the pirates at the same time, every single bullet was fast and fierce and every pirate found themselves with a bullet hole on their heads.

All pirates in front of them died immediately.

{Jay Press}

{Level 140}

{HP: 230k}

{Mana: 900/900}

{Str: 25k Dex: 169k Spd: 20k Int: 180 Mind: 83 Vig: 23k}

Jay's talent, dexterity, and strength combined made a deadly combo.

Sky burned the bodies using pyrokinesis, now this house won't be as eye-catching.

"Seems you can handle yourself now. Split up. Oh and don't try to kill all of them, make sure most run away from the island." Sky said.

Jay nodded and ran the other way.

Sky had thought of simply hiding in the basement and waited out until all the pirates were done, but a few things made him decide otherwise: killing these pirates was a great way to prepare them for the horrors of the Land of the Gods as they don't have much experience fighting and killing people.

Second, a quest popped up.

{Quest}

{Help the people on the island fend off the pirates!}

{Quest reward: 200,000 exp, 400,000 shells}

{Pirates left: 29/521}

Sky ran the opposite. He could sense a fight was happening in someone's house. Sky rushed inside and saw a Caribbean officer and a bloodthirsty pirate fighting.

Before they both could notice Sky he had teleported in beside them and punched them hard in the stomach. At that moment he transformed both pirate and Caribbean officer into a card and stored them into his storage.

{Pirates left: 30/521}

You see Sky accepted the quest, not because he wanted to do it for the trash rewards or because it was the correct thing to do, it was because it told him just how many pirates were left, and if he could catch them and Caribbean officers it would mean he could sacrifice them, or use them as test dummies for his death curse.
