Chapter 1: The bard

I decided to go to a tavern in Lia to see if I could meet someone nice.

I'd been around a few of the buildings in the town of Lia, there was a creepy florest and some scam artists running a magic shop. I didn't expect much from a tavern called Bearton's tavern but I was surprised. The service from Mr. Bearton, a tall bear beastman was exquisite and we ended up chatting for a bit.

Bearton: So, new to town?

Jack: Yeah, I travel a lot and this place seemed lovely

Bearton: are you looking for anything in particular?

he served me an ale

Jack: well I just wanted to have lovely chats with some of the people around here

I smiled before starting to drink the ale

Bearton: I do know of a lovely person, Piper, who often visits before sundown, she strikes up conversations with many of the customers

Jack: I'm sure it will be interesting

I finished my ale and paid. I wondered the streets saying hi to people and recommended the tavern to them. After watching the sunset I headed back to the tavern and tried to find the bard, Bearton told me she was a blue skinned, green eyed tiefling with a lute by her side, and sure enough she was drinking at the bar. I noticed she was alone and looked a little down so I sat next to her.

Jack: hia there

Piper: oh hi

Jack: Mr. Bearton told me you were a lovely person to talk with, what's troubling you though?

Piper: well I just had a bad day, my friends left town today but I had to stay for a while longer.

Jack: maybe we can spend some time together, I love talking with people and cheering them up.

I continued the conversation and she eventually invited me to stay in her room if we split the bill. A gentleman doesn't reveal his dealings in situations like this but I'm sure you can fill the blanks. I decided to help out Piper with her problems. She told me that some of her family were having troubles with goblins getting into their houses so I helped clear them out. We fought together and her family offered to pay but I didn't take it. We spent the next couple of months together...

Lia is a place with a lovely encounter, I hope to visit it again someday. It's been made clear that I'm having trouble remembering some of these people and events after such a long time but Piper is someone I will remember, such a lovely bard.
