Chapter 31: The Answer

Yamato's sight switched back and forth between Yuki who was lying on the bed, and Ryohei who was welcoming him with a deadly pallid face. The situation has overturned - supposedly the sick should be the one resting on the bed. Yamato was about to voice out his opinion when Ryohei quickly tugged him towards the bed. Yuki waited there quietly.

"I'm sorry. It's not that I deny your concern. It's just that," Yamato paused while squinting at the restless Ryohei beside him, "there is someone much more in need of attention."

"No, no," Ryohei shook his head, refusing Yamato's indirect offer to treat him first, "Please check Yuki first. I'm so worried that he might be sick chronically."

A long sigh escaped from Yamato. "I'm sorry, but I think you need to be treated first," Yamato purposely dipped his finger in Ryohei's forearm, "You are pale as hell."

"I can wait. You can treat me after Yuki," Ryohei slowly pushed away Yamato's finger and motioned to let Yamato sit on the bedside.

Even Yuki was troubled. These lovers really have over thought, Yamato said instinctively. He then concurred and settled down at the bedside, examining Yuki from head to toe. The more detailed he checked on, the weirder the sensation he perceived.

"This is odd, I must say," Yamato even put his ear on Yuki's stomach. "It doesn't bounce back when I pressed against it. But it doesn't hurt, right?"

Yuki nodded, confirming Yamato's guess. Yamato shifted to the anxious Ryohei. He then let another long sigh.

"This is out of my reach. I can't detect what the real thing is without the equipment. At least we need an ultrasound."

Even Yuki has turned pale. Ryohei could have endured the nausea for a long time before he rushed to the toilet, puking his guts out. Yamato went to examine him, before deciding to bring both of them to the hospital where he worked. "No buts!" he even insisted.

Yamato hailed a cab and the three of them went to the mentioned hospital. He suspected Ryohei was having food poisoning, while Yuki might have some kind of tumour or cyst in his stomach. That might be the reason of his thinness. Since it was Yamato, Ryohei and Yuki did not need to wait once they arrived there. Yamato immediately headed to his personal clinic for the three of them to be isolated.

"I need to treat you first, Ryohei," Yamato initiated. He instructed Ryohei to lie on the bed. "Mhmm, your stomach is bothering you, right? Since you vomited at your house."

"No," Ryohei controlled his breath so that he could talk properly without the urge to puke. "I still eat, but the nausea is literally the problem."

Yamato widened his eyes. Then, it was not food poisoning. He could not come up with any hypothesis related to the symptom. Or did Ryohei have a nervous system disorder? From the elevated body temperature, it might be one of those severe disease. "I may have to take some of your cerebrospinal fluid or blood. Before that, do you have other symptom, Ryohei?"

"Just vomiting and fever. I think I have headache due to too much fluid discharging from my body," Ryohei replied monotonously. As Yamato was checking his blood pressure and heart beat, he glanced at the silenced Yuki at the bench. "Yamato, you've done checking on me, right? How about Yuki?"

Yamato furrowed until his brows entangled to each other. "You're making me panic as well," he commented and helped Ryohei to get down from the bed. He had only one bed in his clinic so Ryohei ought to give in to Yuki.

Even though his joints were killing him, Ryohei still assisted Yuki to get onto the bed. Yuki put his white cane by a table and voluntarily lied on the bed. Yamato closed the space with a curtain, engulfing the lovers into an overwhelming nervousness. He applied a gel-like substance on Yuki's stomach, and gotten his ultrasound machine ready.

"So..." Yamato pressed the transducer probe on Yuki's stomach. He squinted to see the black and white image displayed on the monitor.

From a very confident expression, Yamato's instant mood alteration scared Ryohei. Only he could see how petrified Yamato was, while the panicked Yuki remained quiet as Yamato moved the transducer probe to other section of his stomach. Yamato was too astonished that he has lost words to say.

"Yamato, why-"

Out of the blue, Yamato guffawed loud enough to quake the floor. Ryohei and Yuki were startled, but they tried to handle their fear well. Yamato kept on staring at the monitor while moving the transducer probe on Yuki's stomach. After ensuring what he has seen on the screen, he removed the probe and cleaned Yuki's belly.

"Yamato-"

"Congratulations, both of you!"

The lovers were perplexed. Why was Yamato congratulating them for? What was actually in Yuki's stomach?

"It's a fetus- No, I saw two fetuses in the ultrasound!" Yamato could not hold his voice, "Congratulations, Yuki! You just broke the record for being the first Omega in my research to conceive, and the shocking part is Ryohei, your fiance, is a Beta!"

The quiet Yuki has not reacted, but his tears were already flowing down his cheeks. He was speechless and unsure whether to accept the news positively or the opposite. Even though it was a surprising news to them, Yamato seemed totally contented. Yuki patted his bulging belly.

"Did you say that- there is a baby inside me?" Yuki's trembling voice showed he was about to weep.

The doctor grinned ear to ear before nodding. Then, he nudged at the mouth gaping Ryohei. "You're so powerful that Yuki could conceive despite you being a Beta, plus Yuki was carrying twins. It has been three months old. Oh!" Yamato came up with another hypothesis, "So you're having morning sickness!"

Ryohei blinked in bewilderment. Hearing alien words like fetuses, twins, and morning sickness did not really tell him to accept them well. Yuki was groping the air when Ryohei was blankly staring into the space.

"Both of you must celebrate this," Yamato saw Yuki finding for Ryohei. He led Yuki's hand to Ryohei's, startling the fiance. "You guys love each other so much. But, I'm sorry that you are the one having morning sickness instead of Yuki."

The blind giggled at Yamato's statement, and Ryohei's cluelessness. He dragged Ryohei's hand to his stomach. So, the hard part in his belly was his womb, and it was developing fetuses. "Honey, can you feel it? It's our baby- No, it's our babies."

Ryohei caressed Yuki's stomach. No wonder it was bulging. One thing for sure - there was an overwhelming happiness surfaced, and there was no suitable word to portray his pleasure. The streaming tears were his sign of gladness, and he could not help himself but to passionately kiss Yuki and thank him for carrying their offsprings.
