"The backlash increased, yeah?" Alex asked nonchalantly like he was talking about the weather. His brother looked at him like there was something wrong with Alexander, or maybe this was the last straw for him.

Honestly, Ryan couldn't blame Alex. Whatever they had gone through in the past two months had been hell reincarnated. Anyone in his state would have given up but Alex was still holding onto the hope that everything would be okay.

"Unfortunately. How did you know?"

"Jay never leaves her soldiers without something to draw information out of," Alex said and Ryan just sighed.

"Yeah. How bad is it out there?" Alex asked, hoping that it wasn't catastrophic. Then again with all that had happened with Jason, he wouldn't be surprised they lost more than they gained. Maybe Alexander was done fighting for their family.

Maybe he was giving up, but was that really how he was going to let things go?
