"Fuck," Damien breathed out once he was out of the building. He could hear sniffles on their communication channel and he didn't need to be told that his siblings were doing the sniffling. Ryan had been so truthful about Dylan that it brought them different memories.

It was also a reminder that they had failed to protect one of them.

"I'm sorry, I failed Dyl," Lia said and for the first time, Carl didn't have anything to say. He knew that Lia's vigilantes had been the reason Dylan had been hurt, and it was all because of his link to Ryan.

Carl had never dared to acknowledge the fact that a part of this had been Lia's fault. Instead, he had pretended like his little sister hadn't done shit to their brother. Of course, it hadn't been Lia's fault but still, it hurt.
