Goodbye Brother

[ALEX]

"Excuse me, how soon can we get a cremation?" Alex asked the morgue attendant. The man just looked at him, wondering why he was in such a hurry. Surely, the body they had brought in had to have meant something to him, yeah?

"I'm sorry, what?"

"My brother, how soon can we cremate him?" Alex asked a second time. He didn't want to sit here and wait for nothing. He didn't want to start a new day with all his pain gurgling him to death.

He didn't want to be there wondering what he could have done wrong and more than anything, Alex didn't want a huge funeral for his brother. Of anything, he didn't want one at all.

There were only three family members he had left, and now one was done, so his twin would be there with him. That was all the people he needed to make this happen.

"There's a large queue today, the earliest we can cremate him is tomorrow," the attendant insisted Alex wasn't having any of it.
