"Walker are we almost there? We have been riding for days with only more sand in sight. I swear if you have tricked me-" Baraka started before I interruptes him.
"Trust me B. we're only about 20 minutes away from the soon to be not ruins."
The small caravan turns back to silence as we ride the sand runners back to our base. The journey so far was effecient with us only having to take small detours to avoid the sand worms, which by the way are terrifying. Especially when all I have access to is sand in this desert.
"Ben?" a soft voice murmured in my ear, "Are you sure you can supply that much water? Youre already using your Arkana to see, not to mention how difficult it must be to do such tedious work."
"Mileena, strenuous work or not I'd rather prefer putting in a little more sweat to avoid spilling so much blood. Besides This planet would be much more beautiful with less desert."
"I completely agree" she chuckled before getting serious again as she turned her head towards me and I mimick her actions, "But promise me if it's too much~"
"If it's too much I'll quit right away until you sign off Dr. Mileena."
"Doctor?" she asked
"Ah sort of like a healer, but more sciencey and less herbal remedies or magic."
"I see" she said in a voice showing off 1000s of years of wisdom before I spoke up and said
"I dont....."
The silence grew to an almost impossible atmosphere before she says with a resignated sigh, "Huh~ I really don't know why I put with you?"
As much as I wanted to rebuttal I started 'seeing' semi destroyed buildings in the distance. "We're almost there" I shouted out, "Start lowering yours speeds and get ready to stop. We've arrived."
I see the Tarkatans visible excited while Mileena adopts her cold gaze and solemn face combo. I couldn't even blame her considering how she and Kitana got along. The runners took about 15 minutes more to arrive near the edge of the settlement.
Upon doing so they're greeted by a man and woman wearing purple and red robes and tights.
"Who are you? State your purpose here or leave" Rain says quite determined before I walk forward and say to him.
"Its only been about a week and you already forgot about me? That's sad Rain, maybe Skarlett still likes me?"
I barely get the last line out when I feel a pinch on my waist. I doesn't hurt but it's still uncomfortable a bit. "BOSS" Skarlett yelled as she bowed with Rain following suit. "We've already started clearing out the old reservoir however all the sand and stone build up over the years will take more time."
"Its fine, I'll take care of it. Rain, Skarlett, this is chief Baraka of the Tarkatans, please show him around, it's still a bit run down but since most of the buildings survived with my powers fixing up stone buildings is nothing."
""Yessir"" the two Edenians said in a resolute voice as they gestured the Tarkatans to follow them.
Less than a minute later I'm standing here with Mileena as I turn to look at her. "Well now Mileena I'd say that jealousy looks cute on you but I'm afraid you'd get all stabby stabby on me."
"Tch. Don't you have work to do..."BOSS"", she teased as she stepped forward walking to the reservoir leading the way. Even with no eyes I can still feel her hips swaying and damn Sonya got nothing on her cakes. "Well you gonna stand there all day Benjamin or are we going to"
"FUCK"
".....well that's not exactly what I~"
"NO! SAND WORMS DOZENS OF THEM ALL MOVING TOWARDS US AT HIGH SPEED."
Her eyes snap open as she sprints off towards the tour guide group for backup as I slam my heel into the ground. I know exactly how useless sand can be on desert creatures so instead I compress the top layers of sand making it as hard as concrete to buy some time.
I start thinking about a plan but it fails to form as 3 gigantic greyish anaconda like creatures burst through the hardened sand. How the hell is this thing a worm? The worms all lock eyes on me and open their mouths full of whirling teeth and charged at me.
I don't waste any time as I run off into a place where I feel more stone. A few other worms came up and about a km away I can feel a group of people running towards us, when one of them disappeared. Without waiting I just keep running using the sand to propel me forward while dodging charging worms.
"BEN!" I hear a voice suddenly appear next to me.
"MILEENA I NEED SOME STONE GET US AWAY FROM ALL THIS SAND!"
She grabs my shoulders as we shadow hop away landing on top of the reservoir. I can feel the worms stop for a second before they turn direction and head towards us again. Unfortunately for them I can feel the earth beneath the layers of sand. The boulders lodged underneath basically calling to me.
I let out a feral grin that even Mileena would be proud of as I slam my hands onto the ground. Tons of sand came shooting up forming a dozen sand dragons that immediately start dancing with the worms back and forth taking their attention.
I feel Rain and the rest pull up but for the first time since I reincarnated I can fully go out without worry.
"I am Benjamin Walker, Master of Earth. As long as my feet are on the ground..." I can feel all eyes on me as I grin as six boulders come up and start spinning and releasing heat. Even Mileena next to me was taking a step back as the six giant lava shuriken were rotating around me, "I am invincible."
I launch the shuriken cutting through both sand and worms as blood starts flying through the air. The blood however stops in midair before turning into spears and killing another. I'm a little miffed Skarlett kill stole me but I won't let it show as I launch the remaining shuriken putting down another six worms.
While Rain and the 12 Tarkatans dealt with another 2 I turn my attention to the last two I try something I've never been able to pull off. I dig my fingers into the ground as I will the sand to magma. Turning sand to magma was always something elusive to me but right now I feel like I can do it.
And that feeling doesn't disappoint me as the sand in an area around 3 kms all start burning sending heavy smoke and waves of heat around us. The remaining worms let out a screech as they died while I took a deep breath sweat staining my face from the massive stamina drain. Note to self don't turn sand to magma casually.
"Well that was hot" Mileena said with a smirk as she pats her back mentally at her double entendre.
"Agreed" Skarlett says. The others don't say it but they all mentally agree.
I smirk a bit as I start willing the magma to cool when something unexpected happened.
*BOOOOOM* *CRACKLE*
All the outworlders look around tensely as I look up. Mileena notices my 'gaze' and turns her head. "Black clouds?" she said.
The others all turn to look and they see it as well with various degrees of confusion. "Its rain" I say.
"Me?" Rain asked "I'm not doing anything I swear."
"NO not you Rain. As in its raining. When the clouds turn dark and you hear thunder and lightning it means it's going to rain, water falling from the sky."
"Impossible water doesn't fall from the-" but he's cut short as the rain started falling, lightly at first but as the volcanic ash rises into the air the rain turns harsher.
I come back to my senses as I quickly start emptying the reservoir by making sand platforms to raise everyone out of the deep basin and I start emptying all the sand and boulders which takes about 10 minutes of bending.
The outworlders reveled in the new phenomenon of rain as the basin has started to refill for the first time in almost a century.
I feel a pair of arms wrap around my waist as a light voice says in between tears, "Thank you. You brought us change. You gave us a chance. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you."
I give a small smile as my arms goes around Mileena and I can't help but think. Huh. Change.
