"Near the beginning of the end."

"No! Fuck 'letting you go'! I don't care about freedom anymore! Don't let go of my hand!" I screamed on the top of my lungs, so much that I could feel my chest tightening brought by the physical strain of trying to pull my sister upwards.

I knew that I if follow her wishes, we would not be able to survive from this height. The only thing keeping me from falling with her was the crowbar that pierced through my legs through the wooden flooring. I'm bleeding continuously, the feeling of my tissues ripping slowly was a catalyst for my will to continue burning on.

"Cory! Let go of me!" Laurice shouted back.

"Cory, please, let go of me." she repeats, this time in a whisper, thin and low. Her tears flowing down her cheeks, the sun rays making it shimmer momentarily.

"I said no! We've already lost Topaz, Damon, Drake, Leonardo! Caliber is dying! Please stay! I will find a way out of this!" it sounded like a war cry more than a pleading. It sounded brave, but it was pathetic.

If only we did not figure out our father's real plans, and if only we chose not to meddle with Topaz' mission then everything might still be 'normal'. But perhaps the chaos never did begin from fighting father or helping Topaz, I supposed the problem all started back in our junior years.

"We shouldn't have met Leonardo."
