Chapter 7: This Is What Many Would Call, "Shit Happens"

It took me a couple of minutes to fully comprehend what she said, and what the girl speaking to me looked like. The girl seemed to be nine with black hair and wearing a shrine maid outfit with streaks of black mixed in with the red and white and instead of having them in my opinion rather baggy sleeves at the end cut off and ended in cuffs on the wrists which were a mix of gold and black in color.

The girl had plain tan skin and rather large eyes but that was where the similarities to humans end. The girl's eyes were a mix of violet and red and glowed. They gave off an eerie vibe and one could tell that she was dangerous and wise just by glancing at them. Then her mouth, which was now normal, was full of sharp white teeth. One of her fangs or teeth was sticking out the left side of her mouth. Her fingernails were a dark red color and curved dangerously. The knives I saw earlier looked like a Jewish yod but were black and red with the tip of them being a black blade. It was safe to assume that the knives were throwing knives. Lastly, the girl wore quite plain black and red sneakers.

"U-um, who are you?" I asked. Just because Chewawa sent them doesn't mean they are good. In fact, the girl looked a little pissed off.

"Oh, my name is Red Mist or just Mist. My real name is Cathy Mist Talor Or Misty. I am a Treko and I am known for my control over spatial and worldly anomalies called mist or fog. It means something else from where I come from but the premise is the same. I am four point one feet tall, weigh ninety-eight pounds, blood type is...uhh, hmmm. Oh yeah, it is A 45 T-Y700-P. I am currently single but I am dating T.U...actually, you don't need to know that. And that is all!"

What a meaningless and long introduction. Did I really need to know all that? And what is with her blood type!? Do I really need to know that!? There also is all the numbers and letters. Can you really call that a blood type? Actually, in what world is that considered a blood type?

"Yeah, but who are you?" I asked, and realized I should have rephrased that better.

A bit of red from the mist swirled right up to the girl's face and made the classic angry or triggered thing you see in shows all the time.

"Why I just told you."

The girl had a smile on but her words were slow and I could tell she was trying not to let her anger spill out on them but failed.

"I-I didn't mean like your name or anything but what are you doing here?"

Another angry sign was made and her smile became twitchy.

"My my, didn't I tell you that I was your new guardian until Chewawa returns already?"

"Y-you did?"

A long moment passed. Finally, the girl let out a sigh and the signs turned back to red mist.

"Sorry for having such a bad temper. I am kinda pissed that Chewawa pulled me out of nowhere with the stupid debt that I owe him."

I scratched my head nervously. I still was afraid of this girl.

"T-that's alright. U-um, what name should I call you?"

"Any name works fine."

"Can I call you Red Mist then as a cover name and Cathy when no one is around?"

The girl cocked her head, curious.

"That is quite the specific ask. May I ask why?"

"Well as the lead maid and bodyguard of Master Erogazi I think having a code name in a time and situation like this is better. Even if you don't live here if you start going by Cathy all the time per-"

The girl started giggling profusely. I stopped and waited. By the time she was done, she had tears in her eyes.

"M-my bad. I honestly didn't take ya too much of a thinker Shena. My fault. A lapse of judgment for I didn't consider you to be much of a problem judging from the fact that you got Chewawa questioning his morals in quite the hilarious fashion. I know what you were going to say but I just wanted to know for sure. Anyway, Shena, has it ever crossed your mind that maybe I could handle the people that come our way?"

Cathy examined each of the knives in her hand before throwing one up in the air using the hand all the other knives were in, which would be four in total. That must take some skill and I am pretty sure that is the point she is getting across to me.

"Wouldn't it be better to hang our heads low regardless?"

Cathy let out an even longer sigh before touching the tips of each knife.

"How do I put this? You are old but you aren't that old. I say you are around four hundred years old."

"WHAT!?!?"

Cathy cocked her head again. I have a feeling she does that a lot.

"I AM NOT THAT OLD! I AM ONLY ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY!"

"Correction. You are four hundred years old but that is as far back as what some would consider consciousness go. You are truly eight hundred years old. Something went iffy with your memory so you only remember what has happened to you so far as of coming to this world in your second coming. You see while being of birth in this land, that was your second reincarnation. You were actually born somewhere else."

I didn't know if I should be angry or in shock. I was probably in a bit of both. The one thing that surprised me is that I didn't think she was lying one bit. Like Chewawa when you look in her eyes you feel like you are looking into the eyes of something old, ancient, and neither holy nor unholy, and dangerous.

"Though I may be a little wrong about some things since I can't know everything, it is safe to assume that I am right. If you like we could do some digging around. I am sure there are clues to why you are like this somewhere here on this...place."

I stiffened. Is the answer to that really here? And if so, will Cathy actually help me?

It was at that moment that I remembered Davis.

"Hey Red Mist! Can you please save my fri-this person for me?"

Cathy walked over to Davis and then abruptly crouched down and started walking around in on all fours, sniffing at him every now and then. I felt a slight twinge in my chest but I was mainly weirded out. Then again, Skri did these things all the time.

"He was injured with a fight with Chewawa as I figured and nothing else is wrong with him, though he does have a location tracker inside him, probably military-grade, but he doesn't seem to be on any missions as the tracker isn't giving anything away like vitals or anything. Probably was on vacation. You're lucky that Chewawa's gold didn't cut him and just the blade."

"What do you mean?"

Cathy pointed at the greaser whose head the coin went through. She then pointed at the wound on Davis's throat.

"The golden coin itself is enough to kill gods. The blade is used for three reasons, and those three reasons are intimidation, extra range, and to harm those he truly doesn't really want to harm. It is like a weapon that connects to his heart and mind. He didn't want to kill Davis, and he may have even wanted to become pals with him, but his plan with you got in the way. Chewawa may be cruel and a jerk, but he is quite a good friend and he is a True God, which means he is a God. He has morals and he always tries to do what he knows will help out others in the end. I am gonna assume in this case he was at a complete loss and called me in so he can have time to recollect himself and set things straight with himself."

Cathy stood up and pointed at Davis. A green aura surrounded him and healed him in an instant, the blood from his wound seeping back into him.

"Now that is taken care of, do you want to capture the last greaser? He ran that way."

I followed Cathy and saw an alleyway with a knocked-over garbage can.

"Without using my tracking powers, I know where he is. Kinda obvious but what can you do?"

I wondered what she was talking about but I still nodded my head. Something felt off about the guys who harassed me. I wanted to know for sure though.

Cathy let out a sweet smile and did a little curtsey.

"Then let's go."

And with that Cathy turned and in one leap she jumped all the way on a building, nearly covering a mile in her leap. I had a feeling she could cover much much more if she wanted to.

"You're a Creature, right? You can keep up."

I looked around to make sure no one was watching then jumped after her.

....

I should be safe here. I stopped and leaned against the red brick wall while I caught my breath. I told the others we should have brought some heat. Only Brian listened. But I knew, I knew the moment that girl started fighting that it was over. Then came that brilliant flash of golden light. I was way gone by then but I wondered what happened. It probably wasn't something good for us since no one came to get me nor did I get a call from the walkie I had with me. I may be a coward but that was due to the fact that I was a better hacker than a fighter.

I looked around and frowned. What is this black mist? Wait, red lightning in the black mist?

I took a step back. Is this some kind of creature attack or a new biological weapon? Just when I thought shit couldn't get any worse.

"This is what people would say "shit happens"."

I screamed in shock as two red glowing eyes swooped down in front of my face. I looked up and saw a girl wearing a weird shrine maiden outfit hanging upside down from a fire escape. She jumped down and started walking around me in circles on all fours. She looked like a predator if I ever saw one. The thought came into my mind that she may be a Creature.

"Well, better start running."

The girl reared back and threw a strange throwing knife at me. It stabbed right next to my head. The girl folded her hand closed, making a hand mouth, and then opened her hand again and three more throwing knives were there.

"I do mean you better start running."

I recovered myself and started running. I stole a look behind me and realized with a shock that the mist in the area was coming out of her. She flashed a toothy smile at me before jumping on the wall of the alleyway and climbed up like a lizard on top of the building. I turned to look in front of me and saw the girl jump across the roof to another one. A chill went down my spine. What the hell is she? Can she even be considered human?

The girl suddenly landed in front of me and split into two. Both the girls seemed to be fading in and out like a broken hologram. Both of them reached inside their dress and pulled out two large black and red butcher knives. I panicked but continued to run at them. At the last second, I turned to the right and headed towards the mall. I will be safer there.

It took me a moment to realize that I somehow turned left and was running deeper in the rundown markets of the boardwalk. I turned to correct myself and nearly had a heart attack. There were eight of those girls and behind them were many glowing red eyes. The girls started singing as they closed in on me, some of them crawling on the walls while the others were skipping towards me.

"W-who are you!?"

The girls all cocked their heads in unison.

"My name is Red Mist. I am a Treko. A being stronger than gods and the Creatures here. I am not from this world but here I am."

A Treko? Stronger than God? I wondered if this girl was spitting out bullshit, but then I looked into her eyes. They said otherwise. It felt like staring into the void colored red. I fully believed in what she was saying. That only terrified me more.

"Wh-what do y-you want?"

The girls and the eyes seemed to vanish all at once. I stared hard at where they all were a second ago. Then I felt a hand touch my shoulder from behind. Before I could react I was forcefully turned around and my eyes met directly with the glowing red eyes of the girl.

"Boo!"

I screamed and fell to the ground. The girl started giggling and suddenly jumped back doing a backflip and landed on all fours, still giggling.

"Why I just want to ask you some questions with my friend Shena. You better not lie because I can tell."

I nodded and the girl smiled sweetly at me. Then I found myself back where the group attacked our target. The sight was a massacre. The girl was in front of me waiting like a cat perched on the rail for me to get up. At first, I thought she was going to start asking but nothing happened for a couple of minutes, just awkward silence.

Finally, the target suddenly landed right in front of me, causing the ground to crack. I jumped back. Where did she jump from? I looked at the roofs and figured she probably jumped from there...which means the target was definitely not a normal girl.

"Do you know how hard it was to follow you? Nearly impossible."

The girl crossed her arms while Red Mist shrugged. One of the bodies on the ground let out a moan and I realized that the person was perfectly fine and wasn't a part of my group. I wondered how he passed out. Maybe from seeing Red Mist? She definitely is scary and kinda the prime example of a crazy animal girl...or monster. Her teeth weren't normal and it wasn't one of a mutant. Mutants' teeth were evolved but you could tell they weren't completely natural as they looked broken and wrong. Hers were evolved to be this way but it didn't look natural and more of like it just happened and happened suddenly yet still managed to look neat. It was hard to explain it

"Now, shall we get down to the point?"

Red Mist sprung up and put a knife to my neck. Her eyes stared deep into mine and I now knew what staring at death felt like.

"Let's start interrogating."

....

"I'm bored."

Sardenia let out a tsk, her arms crossed.

"Well isn't that just great."

I let out a sigh and took my foot off the wall that I was leaning on. We were in a hospital after an accident happened with Malami. I wanted to go but when Kellie refused I changed my mind. Then later she said I could go and out of peer pressure from David and Arvo, I went. Sardenia decided to tag along too, then again she always sticks with me.

"Where is Rachel!? She was supposed to be here by now."

"We did get here early you know."

Rachel and I were planning on going to the mall in the city since Rachel has only gone once and that was when she was five or six and I haven't gone at all. It would be a new memory for both of us. I didn't want anything to stop that. Rachel deserves it. Though I don't know why we were meeting in the middle of nowhere in the Outskirts.

Something hit me in the back of my head and my right eye hurt for a moment and I couldn't see out of it. Then it passed and my vision returned to normal.

"Huh?"

I and Sardenia turned around, confused. I heard the faint sound of something hitting the ground at high speed behind me. It was clear that I just got shot.

Wait. Why would anyone want to shoot me? It definitely isn't the Iquarks.

Six people jumped down from a nearby hill, or giant sand colored bolder. They were wearing desert outfits which means they probably moved around a lot. Judging from the swords, spears, and guns with them they were bounty hunters or mercenaries.

"Well well well. What was that for? Did I piss you off somehow?"

The person who was holding the sniper rifle that probably shot me seemed taken aback more so than the others.

"If ya did any research you should know there is no real way of hurting me." I lied. There was one way to hurt me.

"Get her! You know the mission."

"Don't ya mean us jackasses!?" Sardenia snarled, turning visible and tangible. Our feelers sprung out of us and Sardenia pulled out her katana. I put my hand behind my back and whispered "Refarrdeen".

My katana appeared in my hand, a blue flame engulfing it. I twirled it in the air before pointing it at the desert bounty hunters.

"Not as easy as you thought, huh? We have more by the way."

The person holding the spear shook his head and charged at us. My feelers sprung forward and the moment he stepped in range of the four meters I slammed his head down into the ground and used the katana feeler to slice open his left leg, disabling him. It was cruel but I didn't want to kill anyone and I had the feeling these are the type of people who won't give up until they are dead.

A glint shone in the air and I darted to the left, making a tiny afterimage as I did so. The bullets missed me earning me another look of doubt from the bounty hunter who shot at me with their pistol instead of the sniper rifle.

"That's the best ya got? Sardenia hasn't gotten any action y-"

Something hit me from behind and everything went white. A ringing noise sounded in my ears and I fell to my knees. So did Sardenia. Fire was consuming our bodies.

"That's a modern railgun for you. Though I must say I am surprised it didn't disintegrate you and your friend completely. It does that to flying ships and Destroyers no problem."

Pain. Hurt. What did I do? If I go, what of Kellie-chan? What of Rachel? What should I do?

A low ringing noise filled my head and gradually grew louder and louder until that was all I could hear, well that and the sound of people screaming. As my vision started to blur and the pain is well gone, I saw Sardenia, pupils glowing bright red, standing over me.

She is here to protect me. Finally, someone is here to protect me.

...

What is evil?

...

I'm a problem for them. I shouldn't be.

I opened my eyes. Sardinia was standing in front of me. I couldn't help but feel admiration. She is so cool.

Her pupils were glowing red, casting an eerie glow on the bare ground. The glow was only amplified by the night sky. Red was dripping off her katana and she licked off some red that was on her face, panting but not tired and glaring around with her teeth bared, her white teeth much sharper than usual. Her fingernails were also sharper and longer than normal, with a new black and blue color scheme on them. Her blue eyes were not affected by the red glow and remained blue.

She shouldn't have to put up with me.

Don't think that.

I perked up in surprise as Sardinia turned around, giving me a warm smile that only made me feel worse. Ashamed, I looked down and refused to meet her gaze. When I did I noticed the ground was bathed in a white glow. That was coming from my pupils.

"Why not? I can't protect anyone? Or can I? W-what do I do Sard?"

Sardinia let out a small chuckle and crouched down and placed a hand on my shoulder, her free hand that is. Her teeth started shortening and became less like fangs while her pupils' red glow slowly started subsiding.

"Still worrying about that, huh? Don't worry Sardina. You're strong. Stronger than me actually."

"Really? You know and live in the truth. Because of that when you get hit you can stand. When I get hit I break. And if I try too hard I'll Kill."

Sardenia narrowed her eyes before letting out a shuddering sigh. Her red pupils faded entirely and her pupils turned more white than red.

"Aah. I'm stupid. I forgot...no I didn't forget, I just wanted to help you in a way that I shouldn't have used."

"And that makes me weak. No matter what I do people can't help me."

"They can and they are. You know that Sardina."

"HehehehahahaHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

I broke off my laughter with sobs, blue tears streaming down my face. I ran my tongue across my sharp teeth in an attempt to calm myself down. My body was shuddering and I had made big holes with my hands in the dirt-like ground, which was a feat in itself as the dirt here they freeze at night becomes harder than diamonds.

I can do things like this but I can't even protect my friends. Haha. How pathetic am I?

How pathetic we are indeed. But that is what makes us strong. By just being us we are helping them. That is what matters.

"Can't we do more?"

"If we do more there'll be no end. They like us the way we are now. Let's just keep it that way."

Sardenia leaned closer and I buried my head in her right shoulder, crying. Sardenia slowly reached up after dropping her katana and started petting me gently. It felt nice.

"Sardina, I'm gonna stop trying."

Her voice was soothing and felt nice. A small voice in my head whispered don't give up. Don't stop trying. But that part wasn't big enough for me to say it out loud. I was scared.

"We'll live in your own little fantasy world from now on so don't you cry anymore. Everything will be fine. Right now, nothing is wrong."

I closed my eyes and felt myself drift away while crying in Sardinia's warmth. I hope she is right. I hope that she is right.

...

Shiro walked to the spot of the energy outbreak, fearful but determined to see what was happening or what had happened. The moment he got over the hill he froze. Sitting in the middle of a massive crater were Sardenia and Sardina. Bodies were thrown about, butchered, and not burned.

When the report came in that a stolen SD-76 was active he was there to jump the gun. The others were still mourning the death of Ova and were too angry at Kellie and the first fleet. But someone had to do something so here he was.

The first thing he checked was the location of the railgun when it fired. To his surprise, the railgun was still there. The thieves must be skilled in order to steal it and experienced with it in order to fire the SD-76 so they had to know that the railgun was extremely traceable. Nothing they could do would hide the railgun when it was powering up and firing.

It was then that he noticed the bodies of the crew handling the SD-76. They were sliced up and even had bite marks on their bodies with chunks of flesh missing. One of the bodies was burned in a weird way, with blue burn marks and their veins blue and visible on the black charred mess.

Looking back at a few of the bodies he realized they too had blue burn marks where they were sliced. And now that he could see the bodies around the crater closer he saw that they too had the strange burn marks. He then noticed a white glow around Sardina and Sardenia.

He took a step forward, wondering why they are here. The moment he took a step forward however Sardenia snapped up and swiveled her head towards me. He felt something brush against him slightly when he took that step. He didn't take notice of it but he probably should have because he was sure he didn't make a sound and he was a good distance away from where without the special lens Sardina and Sardenia would look like blobs. Yet Sardenia saw him.

Her eyes were glowing red but at closer inspection, Shiro realized it was her pupils that were glowing red. Sardina shifted at Sardenia's sudden movement and Shiro saw that her pupils were the cause of the white light. Her pupils were glowing white.

Sardina closed her eyes and rested deeper on Sardenia's shoulder. In a flash of blue Sardenia sprouted, or more of jumped, out of her own back. Now there were two Sardenias. The one not kneeling down crouched down and picked up a black-bladed serrated katana and stood back up again. When she did blue fire formed around the hilt of the blade and started spreading downwards. The sword wasn't on fire like you see in movies and such but the flames were still there.

Sardenia opened her mouth and started growling, a sound which reached him all the way over here. Her teeth which were already sharper than most mutants turned razor-sharp and started growing. Her tongue flicked out, long and blue, forked with a tiny thick extension in the middle which had a white barb on it. Her pupils shrank before growing and becoming cat-like. Her blue corneas became feral-looking and they started glowing. Then Sardenia's fingernails grew into claws and turned black and blue. For a second Shiro feared she would suddenly turn into a Creature but she stayed the same.

Sardenia crouched down like she was planning on sprinting. But he knew she wasn't. It was obvious who killed the mercenaries. From the blood caught in her fingernails and her teeth as well as her blade. And judging from the fact that the mercenaries were heavily armed and skilled, Sardenia is very dangerous.

Of course, it was then that Shiro remembered the feeling of touching something. He could feel them all over his body, like a cold chill and that something is just wrong in the air. Shiro wondered if him walking into whatever that was the reason Sardenia was alerted like that.

Whatever the reason was Shiro knew he was dead. No suit, no time to call for help, and armed with only a glock.

Shiro didn't even have time to brace himself when Sardenia lunged forward and was upon him, mouth wide open and sword raised…

"Sardenia? Sardina? Are you two okay?"

The moment a girl's voice cried out over the hill wasteland plain Sardenia stopped mere inches from Shiro's face, her mouth wide open to bite his head and her katana ready to slice him apart. Sardenia crouched down on all fours and with a growl turned around.

Shiro suddenly felt something hit him hard in the chest and he took a step back. The things he walked into before were no longer there as he stepped back from the impact. Sardenia growled and swung around, her claws missing his face by inches, before disappearing in a flash of blue.

Sardenia's eyes started to turn back to normal and so did her teeth and fingernails, though not fully.

She scratched at her eyes and rubbed her head like she was waking from a dream before turning to look at a girl running towards her. It was Rachel.

"Sardina! Sardenia!"

"Rachel?"

Rachel ran up and crouched down beside Sardenia. She then looked down at Sardina and then at the ground beside them.

"She was hit by the railgun?"

Sardenia nodded while Shiro did a double-take. The reason why they were sitting in the middle of a crater is that they were shot with the SD-76!? The railgun which the new series name is "Ship Destroyer ''! Not only that but both Sardina and Sardenia's clothes aren't damaged in the slightest!?

"How come Kellie hasn't contacted us or used one of the ships like usual."

Rachel shook her head slightly.

"I haven't heard from her or any government official since yesterday. I just happened to be looking for you guys when I felt something happen and I saw the flash of the railgun so off I went."

Sardenia shook her head and smiled slightly before looking in my direction. Thinking about something he learned in the military school Shiro quickly turned off his contacts. Sardenia, Rachel, and Sardina all turned into blobs. Even from this distance, Shiro could still make out the red glow from Sardenia's pupils, since they never fully turned back to normal. Shiro felt her gaze drift past him and for a second it stayed before moving away. Shiro let out a sigh afterward.

In class, he learned that Creatures and some mutants can sense electronic waves while a few can even see them. Right now there was a high chance that Sardenia saw his electronic waves and attacked before. If she saw them again, Shiro doesn't think she'll attack but she'll definitely know where he is and she already proved that she can reach him before he can react.

"I managed to calm her but she won't be the same."

Shiro wonders briefly if Sardina and Sardenia are really mutants before he realizes that judging from the conversation, Rachel works with Kellie as well. He knew that she knew military details and probably was the daughter of a military official but to think she actually worked directly for Kellie, third in command of the Government was just a little too much for Shiro.

Shiro watched as Rachel hugged Sardenia before petting Sardina. It was obvious that she really did care for the two. Shiro had briefly entertained the idea that Rachel and the Terrokati sisters were friends in name only but that clearly wasn't the case.

After a bit, Shiro decided it was fine to leave. He turned and froze as someone pointed a gun at him and fired before he could react. He felt something pinch his neck and the next moment he wobbled before his vision faded to black.

….

I banged against my desk. To say I was furious would be an understatement. Sardina and Sardenia are gone, off the grid. The worst part is that Sardina had a mental breakdown. Judging from the pattern and the fact that there hasn't been any report of a sudden mass murder probably means that it was a Code White. However, the keyword there was probably. It could have started out a Code White but have turned into a Code Red. Luckily, both Sardina and Sardenia were waiting in an area free of any living thing. Of course, the moment they got there the alarm system for known threats picked up the mercenary group Sand Strikers coming in at full speed. And of course, the moment I ordered a drone team to intercept them every signal ship went offline, and everything went off. No contact, no signals, no nothing. Our ship was dead and was only just minutes away from entering the Station. The only thing keeping my ship afloat was just the fact that the Galleon is the most advanced ship currently known. It won't go down that easily. However, the fact that Isheva hit it while at a power level enough to burn the entire universe that we used to be on might very have done it. The final nail in the coffin. On the outside it didn't look like much damage had been done but oh boy was the inside a hell. Just going near the sight of the wound would kill you because of the active liquid that Idheva creates. Z-1. First in command was good at many things...but not naming. Most definitely not naming. I mean, of all the things to call Isheva and her kind, why Creatures? I mean, the word already exists! Why call them Creatures!? Why Not Monsters If Your Gonna Call Them Something!?

Actually, that is something they should never be called. Now that I think about it, Creatures make them sound like something that is mysterious. Something that can or can not be dangerous. They are something that we can live with and fear at the same time. However, they are not monsters.

And Sardina and Sardenia Aren't Monsters. That much is for sure. Here in the Government, we aren't a bunch of uncaring assholes. No one can just say these are monsters so let's just run all these inhuman experiments on them. That age is way over. I heard a rumor that when I was around one or something that there was a team of scientists who thought of mutants and some species called Trenkens who treated them as objects and monsters. They wiped out the Trenkens because of their rare and powerful blood or genes that would be similar to the blood of a Creature. They were Creatures before there were Creatures.

And now I am rambling on again. Calm down, Kellie. You are the leader of this fleet. Third in command of the Government. Act like it.

"Alright. Can anyone give me a status report?"

"Everything seems to be working but everything we have that can do anything outside the ship is not working."

I let out a small growl. Isheva's attack did many things to the ship but one thing that it can't do is block off all contact with the outside world. Plus, if it did, why do it now and not when the Galleon was in the city? The only answer I could think of right now was sabotage. And since it is highly unlikely that we were attacked by outside forces, we have a traitor, and they are probably on my ship.

I pulled out the speaker and hooked it up to the speakers all across the ship. This was something I had installed in case the intercom room ever stopped working or we couldn't access it or we needed to tell something immediately.

"This is your captain speaking. The ship is currently suspended in the air and we have no way of moving. Communication is down but we have a way of communicating starting up. Meanwhile, everyone tell me what is happening at their stations and any way we can get in contact with Sardina, Sardenia, or Rachel. Also, crew masters, we might have a Code 84. Report to me if you find anything. Kellie out."

I lean back in my chair and let out a sigh. I wasn't chosen because of my quick decision-making. Compared to the other High Commanders I'm the one who takes the most to decide. I was chosen due to my skill in combat, views, smarts, and my ability to fix any situation.

I will fix this and get the ship to safety. That is the least I can do for now. Now how should I contact Sa-

"Captain, the Task Floor is contacting us."

"Bring them through newbie."

I wonder why they are contacting me? Surely the traitor isn't one of them! I mean, how would they have access to the drones and communications from there?

"This is Kellie speaking. What is it Orean?"

"Task Master Orean has been injured. This is second in command Fin."

"Okay Fin, how come Task Master Orean wasn't reported as injured?"

"U-um, Task Master Orean didn't want to concern you with his injuries and insisted that he was fine. After your broadcast, he suddenly clutched his side and fell unconscious."

Tsk! Dammit, you old man! Me worrying about you isn't a good reason to not report yourself as injured.

"Well, what is it that you needed to report unless that was it?"

"N-no. Um, when we were looking around for a full damage report we discovered a black box on a black pedestal. Inside were little black cards with missions on them. Upon further inspection, we found out that they were mission cards for Sardina. These were the cards that went out and turned into little black drones which teleported to Sardinia's headset and displayed the mission in front of her."

Ahh! I remember those. They were discontinued because of the annoying humming noise they made which annoyed Sardina and Sardenia and most of the time when they teleported the cards would stab Sardina in the ear. But right now, they will have to do.

"Guard those cards with your life. I am coming down there. Thank you, Fin. You just helped us a ton."

….

Hey Sardenia, do you hear that?

Yeah. Kinda sounds like a bullet but electrical.

The next moment I felt a sharp pain in my left ear. I let out a tiny yelp and looked around. I healed instantly but that still was shocking.

Mission: 459

Type: Emergency!

Find out and deal with any problems at the Station and tell non-hostiles that the Galleon is stuck at 0089 Y, -X 2340. Good Luck!

I stared at the blue text that appeared in front of my face for a minute before sharing it with Sardenia through our bond. After turning to check on the house I and Sardenia slept in where Rachel is currently sleeping, we turned and sniffed the air. After sorting through the different electronic smells on the air we found the Galleon. We then smelled the scent of a base large enough to dock the Galleon. Giving a nod to Sardenia I drew where we went on the ground in front of the house in case Rachel wakes up and we are gone. Then we started walking.

….

The massive floating complex came into view with its dark blue and black walls. It wasn't really floating as it was supported by four massive black spider legs but it was nice to imagine.

Those aren't real spider legs either.

Like I said, it is nice to imagine.

You have a weird imagination.

We share the same mind.

I still think we are different.

I let out a giggle. Boy is this so much fun. And once we help the Galleon dock we can have fun with Kellie as well! I'm so smart.

Debatable.

Hey!

I crouched down and jumped up high and landed on the circular platform surrounding the floating part of the Station.

Suspended part.

After looking around and seeing no one here I walked over to two big metal doors with no handles. I knocked and waited.

You do know that there is a lever right here, right?

I looked to where Sardenia was pointing and saw a big lever on the wall to the right of me.

Oh.

Stupid.

How was I supposed to know?

Ya look!

Sardenia turned visible and tangible and flipped the lever...only it didn't go. Sardenia did it again with the same results before looking around once more then pulled the switchback with far more strength than she should have. It went back as well as went off the wall. And the door didn't open.

"Are you kidding me? There is no scanner, no other key or lever or button, and I can see the electronic waves lead to the lever. There is no other way to open this door!"

"Yes, there is."

Sardenia gave me a "really now" look while I started whistling a little tune, La la laa la la, like that, while tapping the doors once and then punching them really hard. The doors flew off their hinges and went flying into the wall on the other side, pulverized.

"We're in!" I tell Sardenia who is giving me a weird look.

"I meant without busting or breaking in."

"Oh."

"Oh bon voyage."

"What language is that from?"

"Don't know. Heard it and now I'm saying it."

Me and Sardenia heard people rushing up metal stairs and turned to look at them as they came into view. All of them gave a really long and hard stare at the broken metal doors than at me and Sardenia. They looked like scientists but I recognized their guns. High-standard military rifles.

"Who Are You!? Did you two do this!?"

They all flinched when me and Sardenia looked at them. Before we were looking to see where the stairs were in the room.

"Yep! Neee! We are looking to see how to fix the mess here. You se-"

One of the white figures shot me in the face, his gun having a shotgun mode. My face instantly healed and I felt no pain, which surprised me. I guess the gun must really be weak. When I focused back on them again, I had to rub my eyes again. This isn't right.

"H-hey Sardenia. What are these white monkeys? Never seen em before."

"What accent was that? Anyway…are you sure these aren't mutants. I thought them normal humans before but now I think they might be mutants."

"Wait! They are speaking and it seems to be intelligent speaking so they must be mutants!"

"If you can call that incomprehensible babbling to be words then yes. I mean, mutants, or at least most mutants, are way more refined than this."

"Mmmm, not all of them."

"Hence why I said most."

One of the white monkeys fired their gun at the ceiling, earning him glares from the others and what seemed to be curses. Both me and Sardenia turned to face the white monkeys which made them all shudder, fear coming off them. Fear has an odd taste and it doesn't really smell or taste good either. But we can't do much about it in this scenario as the white monkeys are afraid of us for no reason and they might be threats.

"Kellie's ship, the Galleon, is currently stuck at...the numbers are gone! Hey, I need to tell the people working here those! Well her ship is stuck so can you bring us to whoever is in charge please?"

The white monkeys started talking among themselves in a hushed manner. After a bit one seemed to be really angry with the others but the others seemed to have agreed on something. Meanwhile, I waved at a camera that was watching us, hidden and tucked away to my left in the corner above those metal stairs.

I perked up at a sudden smell and turned to face the white monkeys. A chubby one who looked like the human who talked before...wait, did that even happen? took a step towards the stairs tucked away in the corner when the angry one raised his rifle at Chubby's back.

In a flash or even faster I had cut his rifle in half then stabbed him through the head with my katana. I heard the sound of the trigger happy monkey firing his shotgun at me but none of the bullets or shards or whatever they are called hit me. Sardenia had already cut them all into tiny pieces.

"He was gonna shoot you Chubby," I told Chubby, pointing at the dead white monkey.

I heard the click of the trigger happy monkey's gun getting ready to fire and Sardenia grabbed him by the throat and lifted him up in the air over her head.

"Cut It." She hissed, showing her sharp teeth in a snarl. The white monkey nodded and she dropped him and in mid-air grabbed his gun and crushed it with her hand before tossing it away by the time the monkey hit the floor.

The fear scent was even stronger now and the monkeys were shivering badly.

"Is it that cold in here?"

"Could be. Our bodies don't get cold or hot easily."

Sardenia twirled her katana then pointed it at a random white monkey.

"Or they could be afraid of us."

"Why are they afraid of us?" I asked, my mind going cold.

"Who knows but let's go, Sardina. We can't understand them so talking or staying around these five is useless anyway."

Sardenia stopped when she saw I wasn't moving and grabbed my shoulder and wrapped me in a hug, her voice growing soft.

"Don't worry about it. Now let's get going so we can save Kellie-Chan."

My mind went back to normal and I gave Sardenia a big smile. Sardenia returned my smile and I gave the white monkeys a smile before walking with Sardenia down the stairs.

"We are coming to save you Kellie-Chan! Teehee!"

….

"So let me guess, you guys are here to stop us, right?"

Me and Sardenia were standing in a metal hallway with a bunch of black-armored guards with guns in front of us. I wondered briefly if these people worked at the Station but decided that if they were they would listen and help me when I time them about Kellie's problem.

"Sardina and Sardenia, right? I take it that you are here on orders to fix the problem with the Galleon?"

"Hmmm, sounds about right. I'm gonna assume you know about us? Then you must know that you can't harm us, right?"

The officer in front of us, the green-eyed yet tan brown hair guy wearing black chuckled and took a step forward.

"You're fast and have a good healing factor. You also can withstand quite the amount of bullets. But not this many."

The officer turned around and flicked his wrists. Bullets flew at me and Sardenia. Of course, they were cut by Sardenia before they reached us.

"Huh. I guess they were undermining your skill. No matter. This shall do you in."

The soldiers parted fast enough that I considered if their equipment weighed anything. In the parting was a heavily armored soldier carrying a miniature railgun.

"Hey Sardenia, what model is that?"

"I don't know but mo-"

The railgun powered up and fired a blue laser. It engulfed me and Sardenia but that was it. I mean other than the heat everything was fine.

"Hey Sardenia, these are nothing but obstacles in the way, right?"

"Um, yeah."

"Can We Kill Them?"

"Well isn't that against your morals?"

"They are nothing but black animals. Just aggressors in our way of saving Kellie. Why not just cut through?"

"Huh. You're right for once. I guess that makes it...um...You know what, we'll get back to that later. For now,"

Sardenia crouched low, her pupils turning red and glowing, her katana on fire. I got myself ready as well.

"let's kill!"

….

Disaster. That is the only way to describe this. The takeover went as smooth as butter...if that is smooth. But the moment these two showed up, everything went downhill.

Sardina and Sardenia. These two are known as dangerous agents to The Order. Ruthless, nice? naive, clever, and Not Normal. They are skilled, fast, and have a great healing factor. We considered them super soldiers. But now that I am reading their file I see how wrong we were. The Government wasn't protecting them like they were all special, well they are, for nothing. They are Creatures. Actual legit Creatures. Like Isheva and Shard. And get this, not only are they not aware that they are Creatures, Sardina and Sardenia are much more inclined to kill humanoids and in fact, find humanoid flesh and blood to be extremely delicious. They are considered the most dangerous Creature. If she were to snap now everyone in the Station would be dead. No exception. Her "feelers" could go through walls when she is enraged. The information on that being totally true though is foggy. In fact, the information about her and Sardenia is extremely foggy, not finalized at all. Despite her working for the Government, she is the second Creature that is not well known. The first is Geravia. However, she had to be the first in the case that her information keeps on changing. Her information is constantly changing. In the beginning Sardinia's range when enraged, or her instant kill range, was nine hundred. Now it seems to be four hundred. At the beginning too she was spotted with nonhuman appendages but now other than her sharp teeth and sharp claws and her unusual eyes she is completely normal.

But nothing in here says that she is able to shrug off railguns that can blow up miniature ships! If she takes enough damage she breaks down. But not only did she shrug it off without even a hint of pain, she healed from it instantly making it look like nothing happened in the first place. Nothing in the documents ever said that she had a healing ability like this!

"BOSS! We have a problem!"

"What is it?"

"You know Sardina and Sardenia? They aren't taken care of and I know why. They are Crearures."

"...um. Okay then. Wha-"

"Sorry for interrupting you boss but I mean actual Creatures like Isheva and Shard. They took out most of our forces and are moving towards where you are now."

"....Tell everyone to retreat."

"What about you!"

"I may live or I may die. I already am prepared. But for now let's just say I need to know some information."

"A-are you su-"

"YES! Now Go!"

I flipped on the intercom for the Station and after telling the others to retreat I gave a silent pray to the boss before leaving myself. He's gonna need it if he is gonna confront those monsters.

….

To be honest me and Sardenia were surprised that there was someone who stayed behind. And not to mention I'm pretty sure he is the head honcho too.

We were in the control room where we could fix Kellie's ship. That is where this butler looking guy wearing a black tuxedo and black dress pants stood with grey hair and a grey beard, though now that I am looking at his hair more closely he has quite the amount of bald patches. He honestly looks like a janiter.

"Sardina and Sardenia I presume?"

"Yep! That's us!"

I point my katana at him and wink.

"Are you going to stop us from helping Kellie-Chan?"

"Zip zap zip zap."

I freeze and my eyes widen. What did he just say? And why does that seem familiar to me? Dreadfully familiar like something I should remember as a terrible foe. My mind went cold. At the same time as my mind went cold Sardenia's pupils turned fully red and started glowing. She bared her teeth in a snarl and her teeth started growing and becoming sharper. Hers wasn't the only one either. I felt my teeth sharpen and grow as well, though slowly.

A flash of memories flood my brain and I remember sitting down with three other kids saying zip zap like a song and remember singing of la laa la la la through some weird hallways. Then it was gone. I tried searching for the memories but to no avail.

"Stop." I hiss, surprising myself with just how much venom is in that word. I could tell my pupils were red now as well. At least they weren't glowing because that would be bad.

"Heh. So you really are the Sardina. Well I'll be damned. To think that that old sucker kept ya for all these years, though I guess he didn't keep you."

I calmed down a little bit. Sardenia was still shooting daggers at him with her glare and I could tell that he was scared. I do give him credit though. Most people start running at the full glare of Sardenia.

"Anyway, don't worry about me stopping you from helping Kellie. I already freed her ship before you got on here. She isn't worth it anymore."

"Oh, okay," I say with a sigh, relaxing completely. For some reason I don't want to hurt this guy.

"Where are my manners? My name is Thomas, leader of The Order."

"Hey! Isn't that the group that captured me before and tried to read my mind or something?"

Thomas's eyes widened in surprise.

"I knew we had a run in with you but I was never told that you were captured. Probably my son's doing as he has mind-reading powers in the first place."

"Oh. Your son is that snarky asshole? I feel bad for you."

Sardenia has finally calmed down, though her pupils were still mostly red.

"I would say the opposite. In fact, I feel quite blessed. Oh yeah. Here, catch."

Thomas reached down into his coat and pulled out a bag with some weird-looking stuff in it. However, the moment he opened that ziplock bag a delicious smell came from it. I think I found a part of heaven.

Thomas took a piece of the unappetizing but smells like heaven food which looks like meat now that it is on the open. Me and Sardenia follow it around as he moves it in the air, kinda like a dog with a treat. Thomas then threw it to the right of us. Sardenia winked at me telling me it's mine and off I went. I caught it midair with my jaws and landed on my fours on a desk. I turned back around and swallowed it before jumping right back next to Sardenia.

We need to get you to try that Sardenia. It tastes absolutely amazing!

"Can you give one to Sardenia please?"

Thomas gives Sardenia and then me a surprised look, like if he was seeing her for the first time. He clearly knew she was there before since he did react when she was giving him the death glare.

"Huh. Well sure."

He took another one out and tossed it at Sardenia who grabbed it out of the air and shoved it on her mouth all in less than a second. There was something about this treat that makes us forget about manners.

"Say, what is this?"

"That is seasoned slightly cooked Homo Respin meat. Your kind loves em but not more than you. You have a taste for...well I think you don't know so it'd be best not to tell you."

I and Sardenia shrugged at that. We really don't care.

"Shouldn't we bring him in, Sardina? I mean, he is an enemy of Kellie."

"Well, if you bring me in I'll definitely cause Kellie harm."

"Not in that way." He quickly said after seeing our glares.

"What I'm saying is once she interrogates me she'll learn something she shouldn't have learned and it is possible that it will hurt her position or even kill her."

"So then don't use the curse." I tell him. There we go. Problem fixed. Now why is Sardenia giving me a "really?" look?

"What he means by that Sardina is the information he has on him is dangerous. There are no curses involved."

"Though that'll be pretty cool if there were curses," Sardenia added silently.

"I'll set up a meeting place where we can visit and I'll ship you two these treats every now and then if you let me go?"

"Every three days a week!"

"Consider it done."

"Deal!"

"Deal!"

I offered him my hand before remembering something. He is untrustworthy, right?

"Zecta."

My free hand lit up with a blue fire and a blue ring appeared below us.

"Ah. This is how you make binding deals. Been told not to use it normally but I think this is an exception, right?"

"Why yer asking me? I'm not Kellie-Chan."

"Was that a southern accent!?"

"Now don't you get the wrong idea-"

"Sardenia confirmed to be southern!...whatever that means. Aren't we south of the major cities? Well, east, but right now we are on the southeast. So do-"

"We are not southern. I just decided to try a different accent, Sardina." Sardenia corrected me with a sigh and a facepalm.

"A pact with Sardina. That's something I would never expect to be doing again."

Despite Thomas saying that he shook my hand right away and sealed the deal.

Hey! I can make many seal puns out of that!

Don't you dare!

Killjoy.
