The Summon

Dale felt the pain of each bullet. His armor was enough to protect him, but the pain was still real. At that point,he may as well be getting directly shot.

The guards had cold looks on their faces as they fired their guns. Dale used his arms to block bullet's from hitting his face and his balls. The idea would make him chuckle, but it wasn't funny after getting hit once in the groin. Once, was one time too many. Dale couldn't tell if it was emulated pain, or if the bullets were challanging the armor he wore. Either way he was in so much pain that the summon ability was activating, before he actively realized it. He found himself summoning another hero. The firing came to a cold stop as the area before Dale began to light up. Dale quickly ran around and stood before it, as if protecting it. He remembered the god's warning. The heroes could die if they spawned at the wrong moment.

A four foot tall fuzzball began to come into existance before him. Dale's hope for a powerful hero vanished. That meant the pain wouldn't stop. He had to push through this Hell.

The light vanished and he was left with a bundle of hair.

"Crap…" Dale bit his lip.

They were going to fire again, any second. They would kill him, then they would kill the wad of fur, and finally the saccubus.

"Huh? Who stole my pinut! Wait..where am I?" The wad of hair turned, revealing a tiny girl with fox like ears. She wore a red hood and a black uniform. The whole wad of hair had been her tail and it was one and a half times her size.

"I'm sorry, we're fucking dead.." Dale said as he knelt before the girl. Arms held up for more cover. The attempt to protect was stupid, bullets could easily pass his slim body.

"No! I'm not dead..I'm Senko, an elite marksman for the grand Zeta armada." She said proudly.

"I don't think you understand. The guys behined me are going to shoot us both dead..I'm sorry I ever summoned you. Please forgive me." Dale said.

His mouth felt dry now. He hadn't felt this defeated since he was kicked out if his apartment. Since the debt collectors took his car and everythinge else he owned.

"Shoot? Us? We'll see about that." She pulled out a green jewl like sling shot. Although it looked impressive, it was just a sling shot.

"Wait, that wont work!" Dale said, but it was too late. The little girl leaped into the air.

The sound of popping filled the air. Pop, pop, pop, then the guards began to fall one by one.

The little fox landed and aimed her sling at them. Dale's mouth was wide open, still trying to register what had just happened. The pops had been her shots breaking the sound barrier.

"See, I'm an elite marksman. I fight golems, dragons, and even titans." She said.

The remaining gaurds pulled themselves together and began to fire again. The shots were hitting Dale, but the little fox girl dodged the area of fire. The way she jumped around made her seem like she was flying.

Every gaurd was brought down like a hunter downing a buck with cheat codes.

"See? These guys had impressive bows, but nobody can beat my sling." She said.

"Wow.." Dale said as he studied her work.

The saccubus ran over to Dale.

"Is it over?" She asked.

"Yeah, we gotta go before more come. Where's the others?" Dale asked.

"The tree and the bear both escaped. I didn't know where to go." She said.

Dale managed to find the nearest city called Phoenix in Arizona. Dale did want to get a plane to fly East to Arkenfel, but Senko and the saccubus both lacked any identification.

They had been on the bus for hours now and Senko asked questions endlessly.

"So when can I go home?" Senko asked.

Her face had two black lines going down her eyes. Dale didn't know if they were tattoos or warpaint. Either way it made her look somewhat like a sinister clown.

"About that…I don't know. I can summon heroes, but I don't know how to send them back." Dale admitted.

Senko's tail drooped and her eyes widened.

"T-then how could you be so wreckless? You don't have the right to make a choice like that."

"I do, a god gave me the ability to." Dale said.

"So? My world has four gods, but that doesn't mean you can toss logic out the window." Senko said.

She pulled her hood over her head and curled up with her massive tail.

"Oh, no…now I'll never get to see my home again."

"Look, I'll figure this out. The god told me I was supposed to use your help to defend this world. I'm sure she'll send you back after." Dale said.

Senko raised her tail.

"Was it those big meanies from earlier?" She said. With a serious look.

"No..it's those…that up there." Dale pointed out of the bus window at the horizon.

From that view, the megaship was barley visable. The sun was setting and the skies blue haze blended well with the ship's grey color.

"I see. How do we get up there? I can take it down super fast." She said.

"Thats the hard part. The ship is in space.." Dale said.

"Space? Whats that?" She asked.

"The empty void past the couds. So far up that the air is gone. Thats the easiest way I can describe it.." Dale said.

"Isn't your sky made of glass? In my world, anyone who tries to fly up to high runs into glass and dies." She made an popping motion with her hands.

Dale let out a nervous sigh. He didn't actually want to know about her world. Something about the essence of reality itched at him. It was unnerving to know reality wasn't what politics ever claimed it was. This was Dale's definition of screwed up.
