Chapter 20: Klein

“What are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be in class? Don’t tell me you suddenly developed a deep appreciation for classical music?” I propped a hip on the side of the baby grand and watched as Mac continued to toy with the keys. I was used to Mac being bossy and terminally moody, but this dissonance was new, and I couldn’t tell if it made him more or less dangerous than normal.

I cleared my throat nervously and shifted my weight. “What else should I be worried about?” He couldn’t possibly know I was in the middle of an existential crisis because he kissed my roommate, could he?
