Chapter 48: Theo

Klein’s second song was something slinky and sexy. His voice gliding over the lyrics in a way that was so smooth, I was pretty sure he was seducing everyone who could hear him. I turned to ask Mac what in the hell he was talking about but paused midway when I noticed at the back of the big theater there were several men dressed in nondescript suits lurking near the exits. They hadn’t been there when the concert started, and I didn’t like the way they all seemed to be staring in Mac’s direction, rather than the stage. They didn’t look like regular businessmen, and the vibe in the room felt very different all of a sudden.

Mac chuckled and dragged a hand down his cute, freckled face. “Is he singing a song about having sex with us?” I was so distracted by the newcomers, I barely heard him. “Ugh. That makes me want him even more. You better take good care of him, and yourself, Allstar. I’m gonna be pissed if I come back, and you’re both broken again.”
