The Wolf prowling across dimensions by Pandora's Reader
Highschool of the Dead & My Hero Academia/僕のヒーローアカデミア Xover Rated: M, English, Family & Adventure, [OC, Rika M., Shizuka M., Saeko B.], Words: 820k+, Favs: 1k+, Follows: 1k+, Published: Nov 17, 2021 Updated: Nov 9 779Chapter 76: All the world has to offer
P-reon and all that.
Thanks to Scifighter for supporting me.
Kaizer - I've got something funny(In my opinion) set up for that.
Jellatinous - Surprisingly, I haven't. I hadn't even thought about it. But you've got a point. What should I rename the series too? Ideas are welcome.
Funny story. So yesterday, I was playing Legends Arceus, shiny hunting and all that, and just caught the Alpha Gliscore, when an SHINY Gligar SPAWNS INFRONT OF ME. I didn't even have Gligar at 10 yet, so it was a full odds one too. I caught it too.
Anyway, here's the chapter.
{Three days later. Saya's POV}
Standing in the 'lab' area, a recreation of Polendina's minus the terminals, I made in our training grounds, I looked at my machine, and nodded. "Ok, test #1 for subject 'Scrapper.' All mechanisms green. Aaand, let's begin." I sent the signal, and kept my eyes on the 'Scrapper' in front of me. Being in a 'futuristic' world made it easier to shore up my knowledge on science, mathematics, mechanics, and whatever else I needed. Hell, there were some advancements that made me interested in just how I could apply them. And thanks to Laplace, my natural genius, having Athena be my wonderful assistant, and spending a whole day in our library on accident, I was able to comprehend the subject matter after dedicating a week of studying. With my understanding of those subjects, I could start pursuing my interests.
One of those interests were the machines from 'Horizon Zero Dawn/Forbidden West.' I was already interested in them from the description Zaka gave us about the world when he first got it, but seeing them in action, from Takashi or Kohta playing it in the living room, was a whole other thing. I wanted to build, I wanted to do something like this not only when I was first told about the multiverse, but when I was on Remnant. Sure, Mechashift weapons were an amazing concept in form and function, but creating machines was too good to pass up. I already wanted to start making things like that, but I didn't know what to start with. Then Zaka unlocked 'Horizon Zero Dawn' as a world, and I was entranced by the concept of the machines, and the GAIA system.
That's how I locked in on what I wanted. Reading up on them on the Wiki was a treat. Those machines, and AI's would be revolutionary not only back home, but in other worlds that might need them. Like that 'Cyberpunk' world Takashi was interested in. As a game, not a world. The cybernetics were interesting I guess, but I could make better. (The customizable penis was an interesting mechanic though. Takashi's face when he saw that was a thing was hilarious.) Shaking that thought off, I turned back to my other thoughts.
Nezu and I had to come up with another deal, one where when I succeeded, because we both understood that I would, he'd be given copies of each machine. Well, eight of each Acquisition Class machine, four of each Recon and Transport class, and two of the combat class. Excluding the Stormbird, Thunderjaw, Slitherfang or Tremortusk. Not because neither of us wanted to make them, but because both of them were classified as WMD's, so we had our hands tied with them. Hell, Kohta was downright depressed we couldn't make a 'T-Rex with laser canons.' Cause he was handling the weapons, we all agreed on that. (I'm still a little creeped out at how fast the two of them came to an understanding. Those two... Power Loader too if Nezu 'forces' him, should never be left alone in a workshop.) I internally nodded at that, because it was true. Those two would probably end up making something like Mecha Godzilla if no one stopped them. Hell, Power Loader would probably jump at the chance to do it. (Men and their fascination with giant robots.) Too bad the Tallneck is too fucking big to practically make.
But, I was getting ahead of myself. I needed to understand the Acquisition class machines first, and the one I'd get the most mileage out of would be the Scrapper. Sure, there was the Snapmaw for ocean pollution, but the Scrapper was both easier to create, and would net me more profit. With it's ability to break down, and reuse scrap, it would be an invaluable asset. (No idea why no one has made something like this already, but oh well.) You'd think the future would have fixed something like pollution, but for some reason, they haven't. It was strange. But just gave me the chance to profit, so yay lazy people.
I was brought out of my thoughts when the Scrapper's eyes lit up, and it begun moving. I hummed, checked my 'focus' because it'd be stupid if I didn't make something to read its status, send and receive signals from it, and power it down if I needed too. It was also connected to the internet, and served as a phone. It had all the data from my scroll, so all my contacts, messages, photos and videos were on it. I didn't mind replacing my scroll, the 'focus' was more advanced, and was easier to manage since it ran on aura and mana. MY aura and mana. A little bit of Mystery fuckery was needed to make mana an acceptable power source, but it worked. Surprisingly, my mana was a more effective fuel source then aura, so that was nice to know. Though, I had to make it in a different shape since we didn't have human ears. Zaka had the right idea about making them them look like ringed earrings though.
Anyway, back to the Scrapper.
I hummed as I read the feedback I was getting from it, and nodded. "All right. So far so good. Scrapper." The hyena like machine 'perked' up, and I directed it towards the small pile of scrap by its side. "Breakdown the waste into reusable material." The Scrapper relayed its understanding, and got to work. I watched, and listened, as it started to drill into the waste, and read the report of what was going on inside of it. "Tch. Ok, so it looks like I'll need to rework the grinders, they're too strong. Maybe... Let's lower the output just a bit..." I tweaked it down by 5%, and observed how the metal was being ground up. It looked like it was going by smoother, but most of it was still being absolutely destroyed, making whatever was gathered, useless. "Alright, maybe by another 10%?" I tweaked the output again, and hummed. "Perfect." 85% seemed perfect for normal metals, so that was a success. Maybe if I added the lasers, it could go better, but I was focusing on the grinders and general outline of it first. Besides, it was technically a weapon/fire arm, so that was Kohta's role.
I watched as the Scrapper finished the scrap pile I gave it, and went into standby. Checking the report, I started thinking about what I could improve about it. "Other than its appearance, I should see if I can make interchangeable grinders. One set for normal metals, one for extra durable metals, and another for things that have no right to be tougher then those... Hmm, I'll run it by Nezu, Athena and Power Loader later." I made a note about that, and saved it in both my Archive and focus. "Grinders aside, I need to work on its refining systems. Out of that entire pile... Maybe 25-30% of it is reusable... 40% should be the minimum. So, refining systems, interchangeable grinders... operation life?" Checking its battery, I nodded. "Estimated six hours without refueling. Good, but can be better. So, let's put that on the list... Hmm... Should I try making a mana reactor?" Thinking about it, I debated on that idea.
It wasn't the first time I had that idea, it was just there were a few issues with it. Firstly, this world wasn't accustomed to mana. It's being introduced to it, since those of us with mana, especially our goddesses, are passively leaking mana into the air. So far, nothing's suddenly mutated and begun thrashing Japan, so no Godzilla or other Kaiju were here yet. But the key word there was 'yet.' We weren't sure if making a mana reactor, something that I COULD do, would end up becoming an issue. We had no idea how mana and quirked people, which Athena was studying as I was working on my machines, would interact. We needed a good sample size to test if they were not only capable of absorbing mana, but if they could use it.
It was just too bad we didn't have a Quirkl...- There was a message on my focus, and I pulled it up. -We've got a few guests up stairs. All Might, the Quirkless protagonist of this world, Izuku Midoriya, the rat, and the old lady Shizuka and Eri like.- I blinked at that message, then grinned. I loved my luck.
"Perfect. Scrapper, follow." It stood up, and came over. Good. (Note to self, spend some time on the Hephaestus and Athena AI's.) The thing already had a rudimentary AI, not enough for anything complex, but enough to take basic commands, and follow through with them. Athena was busy studying how quirks came about and worked, while I was tinkering with the machines, so we didn't have time to work on those AI's. (Hmm... I'll see about kicking some responsibility to Nezu and Power Loader. Nezu can work on the AI's, while Majima works on schematics. Between the three of us, four when Athena finishes her research there, working together, we'll have these things up in no time.) Idea set, I nodded, and walked out of my lab.
As I did, I saw Kendo and Kiriko competing again, and held back a sigh. Those two shared a brain cell, I was sure of it. Ever since we brought him with us, the two of them have been antagonizing each other into fights. Kiriko held back, but only until a point. The moment Kendo was able to force her to use aura, she'd give him the bite. That was the deal those two struck.
I ignored the two battle maniacs, and walked over to the stairs. Though, I had to make a wall when I felt something flying towards me. Hearing the impact, I turned, and saw it was Kendo... I just looked at him, he looked back, and I had to ask. "Did she throw you across the fucking room?"
He snorted at that, but gave me a nod after getting back on his feet. "Yup. Oh, and thanks for breaking my fall by the way." That was all he said before kicking off the ground, and running back at Kiriko.
(Tch. Atleast he said thanks.) Shaking off my annoyance at him, I went back to walking to, and up the stairs. My Scrapper following me the whole way.
Making it up, I noticed the bookcase was already out of the way, and shrugged. "Eh, this should be fine." If no one closed it, that meant they didn't mind if our guests stumbled into the training ground. I didn't care either, since I was pretty sure Nezu already knew. You didn't have a massive underground training area without the rat knowing about it.
So, that decided, I walked out of the hall, and went to the livingroom.
When I got there, I saw my pack, and our guests. Zaka was on one couch with Shizuka and Hestia, who were flanking him, while Lili was laying across all of them, with her head in Shizuka's lap. Takashi, Rei, and Kohta were in Takashi's room, playing something since the main switch wasn't down here. Rika was out, putting some holes in people, while Saeko was in her room playing with Eri. (Hmm. Note to self, play with Eri later. Maybe make her a toy.) Something to work on eventually.
On the other couch were our guests. Nezu was sitting there, a cup of tea in his paws, and in his signature little suit. Next to him was the nurse, who was in her regular outfit, and with the syringe cane. Next to HER was... I blinked. "Holy shit, you look worse then one of THEM. How the hell?"
Zaka snorted at that, and Shizuka's ears and tail perked up. "Right! If I couldn't hear his heartbeat, I'd think he was a zombie! I even said it!" A part of me wasn't sure if I should feel worried that Shizuka and I had the same thought, but it was whatever. I knew how smart the woman was, and given Athena's testimony about how Shizuka helped in her studies about quirks, and about biology and medicine in general, that reaffirmed her intelligence in my mind.
Our comments got more reactions, mostly a chuckle from Nezu and Recovery Girl, and choked gasps from the living skeleton and the gre...- I blinked again. There was someone else here. A teen, bordering young adult, that even though he was rubbing the back of the living skeleton, was eyeing my Scrapper with interest clear in his eyes. (Interesting.)
Him aside, Nezu stopped chuckling, and looked over to me. "Good afternoon Takagi-san." I nodded at him, and he grinned as he looked to my Scrapper. "And a working prototype I see. Have you just finished assembling it, or have you gone through the testing phase already?" I grinned back at that, and after pulling up the data on my focus, sent it to Nezu. Like me, he had a focus, one he made me style as a piece of cheese, so when he was sent the data, he tapped it, and I saw him bring it up.
When he did, he started humming, and after he reached the halfway point, he started cackling. "Oh yes! Takagi-san, Power Loader will have a field day with these notes and schematics! Ou! And your notes on th...-"
Zaka groaned, an action Hestia and Lili copied, which broke Nezu out of his rambling before he could start, and got everyone's attention. "If you wanna geek out, you can go chill with Athena, rat. That, or the lab. Either one where you're not here, would be greaaat."
Nezu chuckled at Zaka's words, and I rolled my eyes. For as rude as it was, it was a very Zaka thing to do. "Hmm, I believe I'll take you up on that offer soon, Zaka-san. But for now, we should get to business. How does that sound?" As Nezu started talking, I walked over to the the couch, wrapped my arms around Zaka, and put my chin between his ears. We all liked the feeling of doing this, and I felt like I deserved it since my first test went well. I noticed the reactions from the green haired kid, the skeleton, and old lady, but didn't pay them any mind.
Zaka just hummed as I did, and flicked an ear. "Whatever. Anyway, fixing Johnny Bravo, right?" I, Shizuka, and unexpectedly, the skeleton, snorted at that. Nezu and Recovery Girl just smiled, while the green haired kid looked lost. But oh well.
Nezu nodded, and Recovery Girl took the stage. "Nezu's already told me you know far more then anyone should, but I want to do my own tests. If you're using a quirk, I would like to do some preliminary tests to make sure this doesn't hurt Toshinori. If you're using some form of medicine, I would still need to do tests, to again, ensure they do not hurt, or worsen Toshinori's condition." Made sense.
Zaka, and the rest of us, nodded, and he looked up to me. "You've got the Full Restore, right?" Huh?
Blinking at that, I had to take a moment to remember just what he was talking about. But then I made the connection when I remembered that was an item from Pokemon, and remembered the conversation where that came up.
Raising my brow at Zaka, I had to ask. "You do remember that Lili has them, right?" The look on his face told me that no, he didn't. I sighed, and brought a hand to the bridge of my nose as I looked away. "Over three thousand wisdom, and you forget shit all the time. I don't get it." I really didn't.
The girls on the couch just laughed, and Zaka cleared his throat. "Anyway. smols, the Full Restore." Looking back, I saw Lili grinning at Zaka, before she closed her eyes, reached up, and placed her hands through her inventory. The skeleton, green kid, and Nezu had varying reactions, but I tuned them out.
We watched as Lili rummaged through her inventory, and after a few seconds, found them. She hummed a tune, one I recognized from Zelda, and pulled out a small box. "Full Restore, get!" It was adorable, and after Hestia took the crate from Lili, Shizuka cooed, and started pampering Lili. Again, it was adorable.
While those two tuned out everything else, Hestia reached out and gave Recovery Girl the crate. The small healer took it, opened it under the curious gazes of the natives, and blinked at what was inside. "Is this..." Taking out the potion, because that's what it was, Recovery Girl, and the others, looked confused.
Seeing their confusion, I sighed, decoupled my arms from Zaka, and opened my palm as I focused on my Archive. Ever since Athena showed me what her Arcanium was, I wondered if I could do something similar. The answer was yes, I can. So, by focusing on my notes, I made an aura construct version of them, which took the form of a small book, and tossed it over to Nezu when it was done. He easily caught it, and blinked as he read the title. "Restorative potions?" Nodding at him, I wrapped my arms around Zaka again, and let him, and Recovery Girl, read my notes.
As they did, the skeleton and green hair... "Ok. You two." I pointed at them, which made them look at me, confused. "Names. I'm not going to keep calling you 'skeleton' and 'green haired kid' in my head. So spill, names." The two of them blinked, and I ignored the snicker from Zaka and Lili. The skeleton coughed, which bled a little, and I blinked. "The hell?" I reached up to my focus, and double tapped it. As much as Zaka, Takashi and Kohta would tease me about it, I liked the idea of having an x-ray filter. It helped me see more than peoples innards, and was perfect for seeing through my Scrapper. It also helped that it doubled as a medical scanner, which Shizuka suggested after hearing about the idea. (It was a good idea.)
Anyway, enough about that. I looked at the skeleton man, and blinked when I saw the damage. "Damn... Stomach is gone, extensive lung damage, trace amounts of... What is that?" There was an unknown toxin in his bloodstream, it wasn't doing anything right now, but it looked like it was detrimental to his health. (Hmm... An Antidote could maybe clear it out, but in the event it doesn't, we might need to take a sample, and work on it with some of our ot... Nevermind.) I had another idea, and tapped Shizuka's shoulder. My sister mate blinked at me, and I pointed to the skeleton man. "He's got some kind of toxin in his system, cleanse it for us real quick."
Shizuka went 'ah' the rest of the natives had varying responses that I didn't pay any mind too, and she started to glow gold. Being in the vicinity of her flame, and Hestia's by resonance, was always nice. It was like being at home on a nice rainy day, just listening to some nice music. That, or having Zaka hugging me. Though, I'd never say that second one outloud since he'd never let me live it down.
Anyway, Shizuka sent off the golden flame of her semblance, and let it coat the skeleton. He gasped softly as it connected, and I took in the readings as it worked its magic. (Hmm... That damn thing's stubborn... But nothing Shizuka can't handle. It should be gone in... I'll estimate a minute. Yeah, that sounds about right.) A hum from Nezu made me notice he was looking at the skeleton man too, probably using the same filter I was.
"A YOUTH POTION?!" Looking over to Recovery Girl, we could all see the incredulous look she was giving us.
Zaka and the rest of the girls turned to me, and I raised my brow. I was tempted to leave it be, but I had a thought, and internally grinned. I just had to execute it. So, with a casual look on my face, I spoke. "What?"
Zaka snorted, and waved a hand at my notes. "When did you find THAT?" That was a good question.
"Well first off, it was an accident." It was. I'd accidentally used too much of his blood when I was working on enhancing my version of a Lizard Tonic, and ended up making a Youth Potion. I experimented with it a bit, because I would be stupid not too considering what it was I'd created, but we didn't need it. Hell, I wasn't even sure it would work on us, since our Werewolf physiology might just fight it off. I wasn't sure about that, but it was a possibility. Though, it worked perfectly on people. As long as they didn't take too much. Too much Youth Potion, and you ended up with a child. Or a baby, either of which was too far. (Thankfully, Takemikazuchi took in the babies. They should end up with a clean slate, since the unfortunate ones who ended up as children didn't remember EVERYTHING, but they remembered the basics of who they were... That murderer in the form of a child was weird. Amusing, but weird.) Shaking that thought off, I tuned back in to this conversation.
"AN ACCIDENT?!" Ignoring that.
My husband and mates, as well as my little sister, looked amused at that, and he motioned for me to go on. "Secondly, none of us need a Youth Potion considering we're immortal." We could also choose not to age, so that was another factor in why we didn't need the potion.
"""IMMORTAL?!""" Again, ignoring them. Not because I didn't care about their outburst, no. I DID care, I was just making sure to keep going so my plan would come to fruition.
"Thirdly, given the world's lack of mana, the ingredients I'd need to make it can't grow here. Sure, we're saturating the country, and planet by extension just by being here, but it's not enough yet. Granted, if Athena, Hestia, you and I just sat around in a room for a whole day, just casually using our magic, maybe it would be enough, but I'm not sure. Letting them use their Arcanium would definitely do the trick, but I doubt we'd be left alone if we did. I haven't made something to read mana yet since I've been busy, but I'll probably get around to it later." Since it wasn't exactly necessary, I hadn't put that function in our focus', but when I did my revisions of them, I would. Sure, it'd take a bit to figure out how to put mana in a measurement system we could work with, but I was a genius. It'd be easy for me to figure that out by focusing on it.
With my points done, Zaka nodded, then shrugged. "True... Though, did you HAVE to air out almost all of our laundry?" I snorted at that, and took in the natives' reactions.
Recovery Girl was looking at us like we were all insane.
The skeleton man, whose name I STILL didn't know, looked like this was out of his league.
The green haired kid looked like he was short circuiting.
And then there was Nezu. Just by looking at his eyes, I could tell his quirk was firing on all cylinders.
Seeing all of that, I grinned, and turned back to Zaka. "Yup. Now, have a good time trying to explain it to them. Karma's a bitch, ain't she, mutt?" He blinked for a moment, then I saw when he realized what I meant.* He laughed, and I hummed. "Anyway, I'm gonna head back downstairs, and work on improving my Scrapper." That said, I gave him, Shizuka, and Hestia, a quick kiss to the cheek, just to make his life that much harder, then started lea...- "Oh yeah!" I stopped, then turned back to the green haired kid. "You. Come with me." That snapped him out of whatever daze he was in, and he pointed at himself. "Yes you. I don't have all day, so hurry up." The kid looked at the skeleton, who after a moment of indecision, looked to Nezu.
"It's fine Toshinori. Takagi-san won't bite his head off or anything. Besides, I believe the two of them could have a fruitful discussion considering Midoriya-san's interests in support gear and engineering." Hmm? That sounded interesting.
The skeleton and green haired kid shared a look, then nodded. The kid got off the couch, and cautiously walked over to me. Though, as he did, I noticed how subdued his posture was. It looked far too natural. I mentally narrowed my eyes at that, and decided to leave it for later. (If he proves to be worth my time, I'll look into it.) I didn't NEED to look into every little thing for a stranger. So if he proved worthy of being my friend, I'd find out what the issue was. When he was by me, I noticed he stood behind instead of next to me, did his best not to look at my breasts or ass. Though, that was hard to do since I was wearing one of Zaka's shirts, that was big enough to cover the panties I wore, and even a good portion of thigh.
My sexiness aside, I nodded, then started walking. "Let's go." A nervous nod was his answer, and he started walking after me.
We walked out of the livingroom, and as we did, I had an idea. "Hey Hirano! I need your opinion on something, get your ass to my lab!" Through the walls, I could hear him sigh. "Don't sigh at me dammit!" Rei laughed at that, and I could just picture Takashi rubbing his back as Kohta got up. I kept walking to my lab though, and after making sure the... "Ok. You." He stood straight as can be, and looked worried I'd snap at him. (Oh great. He's one of those. Good thing I called for Kohta to come down.) Shaking that off, I looked at him, and asked the question. "Your name?"
He blinked at me, and after looking away, said it. "Midoriya. Izuku Midoriya." I was a tiny bit annoyed that he whispered it out, but didn't say it. I still caught it, so that was all that mattered.
"Alright, Midoriya. I'm Saya Takagi. You can call me by my family name or first name, I don't care which." I really didn't. I had people that saw me for who I was now, so I didn't snap at anyone that didn't call me Saya.
Midoriya spluttered, and I raised a brow at him. He was blushing a bit, and got out some more words. "A-Are you sure? We just met." Blinking at that, I thought about what the issue was.
I came up with multiple answers, and decided to go with the most likely one. "You don't have much experience with women, do you?" It was like a physical blow to his self esteem, and Midoriya wilted. It was interesting to see that in person, though, I could watch him try to flounder around that fact later. I hummed, and walked down the stairs to our training ground. "Well, you'll get used to it... If you end up coming by more often that is. We've got too many sexy women in this damn house." Midoriya choked at that, and I had to hold back a laugh. For as narcissistic as that statement could be, it was true. We had two goddesses, the epitome of a sexy nurse, a Saeko, Rika in all of her lean and mean chocolaty goodness, ME, the sexiest librarian to end all sexy librarians, the busty little Hestia, and the literal MILF in Kiriko. Rei was hot too, but if I ever said that to her face, her ego would inflate as large as Zaka's TOTW form. (Why did I go on this tangent again?) I had to think on that for a moment, but I shook my head. "Anyway, come on, my lab's this way."
And without further interruptions, we walked down the stairs.
Walking into the training room, I had to bite back a sigh as I saw Kiriko and Rappa running the hard gauntlet. Though, the gasp of surprise by my side caught my attention. Looking over my shoulder, I saw Midoriya's eyes light up, and take in the courses. The easy course was basically a small obstacle course, that had rotating dummies that we needed to avoid before they smacked us in the face, or body. Though, they didn't move that fast, so those were easy.
The normal course had those too, but those were faster, and they actually moved. We'd have to avoid those, while also avoiding the random poles that would shoot out of the dummies.
The hard course was where things went from 25-70. The dummies were able to beat the shit out of the HOTD crew, because those dummies were basically fully fledged constructs that could grow aura spikes/weapons from their bodies, and tear into us with them. There were also areas like a pitfall trap that had 'vines' ready to grab and pull us down into the hole. It was hilarious to see Rei trip into that, and be pulled into it kicking and screaming. I know Saeko and Zaka had a laugh at that.
Then there was the 'impossible' course... I don't know how I turned that place into proverbial death trap, but I did. Mystery had even ranked up to E when the enchantment took hold, and made that part of the training grounds into an arena. Sometimes it was on fire. Sometimes it was frozen over. Sometimes it was stormy with mini tornadoes. Sometimes there was a goddamn lightning storm there. Sometimes things just floated, or were crushed into dust. Sometimes there were earth spires jutting out of the ground or walls. Or sometimes, it was all of the above. Kind of like now. Thankfully, that part of the training grounds was cordoned off behind a transparent screen of Zaka's aura, so Kiriko and Rappa didn't need to deal with that.
Overview of the training grounds aside, I looked at Midoriya, and snapped my fingers by his face. He slightly recoiled, at the action, or the sound, I didn't know which, and I motioned my head towards my lab. "You can gawk later. Come on." And so I started walking again. I heard him follow, and hummed as we went into my lab.
Walking in, he gasped again, and I felt a sense of pride well up in me as his eyes roamed my lab. Sure, it was mostly a recreation of Polendina's, but the differences made it mine. Though, something curious happened. When his eyes locked onto one of my bookshelves, his eyes sparkled, and he practically materialized by it. His eyes roamed it for a second, then he locked onto one of my books about the creation of our focus' and the mechanics behind them. I recognized the way he got into a state, kinda like how Kohta or I do, and he started reading my notes.
He already had my attention before, but now he had my interest.
He had it even more when he started mumbling, and showed an understanding of the mechanics and concepts that went into making a focus. (Interesting. He really is like us... Athena would like him.) I had no doubt about that. But just because my opinion of him was increasing, didn't mean I was going to hand him the keys to the castle and the deed of the land it was on. He had to earn that.
So, while he was going through my notes, I decided to take a seat, and try to understand Izuku Midoriya. (Hmm... Seems to be 5'5, an inch shorter then me. An ok height given his age. He's scrawny, looks like a strong breeze could knock him on his ass. Baggy clothes... Hiding something? Maybe. Awkward around me, and most likely other women. Skittish, seems used to following or submitting to others... Mhm... History of being a victim? Probably. There's that stigma against the Quirkless, as stupid as it is, that would make sense. So far, he seems brilliant enough, so he could be an assistant for now, and I'll test him as we go. Hmm? His hands are calloused... Used to working with them, then. Interesting.) Looking at him, I felt like my summary of him was good enough, and nodded.
I was about to say something, but my ears picked up the sound of footsteps coming towards my lab. I looked over to the entrance, and watched as Kohta came in. Right now, he was wearing a muscle shirt, and some sweatpants, opting to go barefoot like most of us did. He didn't announce his presence like Shizuka or Rika would, and just walked in with a casual smile on his face. I gave him a nod, and he returned it. Then he looked over to Midoriya, who was still mumbling and going through my notes. Kohta looked back at me, and raised a brow. 'Who?'
I hummed, then cleared my throat. The sound brought Midoriya out of his state, and made him fucking SQUEAK as he looked at me. "S-Sorry!" He put the book back at light speed, and bowed like crazy... A response that made Kohta tense a little, and look at Midoriya differently. I wasn't sure why, but I could figure it out later.
"It's fine. You can read more later. First, say hello to Hirano." That made him pause, and whip around to see Kohta, who gave him a smile and wave.
"Hey man. Names Kohta Hirano, nice to meet ya." Hmm?
Midoriya blinked, shrunk just a tiny bit, a response both Kohta and I noticed, and slowly waved back. "H-hello. I'm Izuku Midoriya. It's nice to meet you..." It looked like he didn't know where to go from there, so I sighed, and stood up.
The both of them looked at me, and I went to the point. "Midoriya." He flinched a bit, and it was starting to annoy me. "You're probably going to be coming around more often to either train with us, or assist me in my lab work. So before that starts, we'll be taking the time to get to know you. I can already tell your smart, but that's all I know." I paused there, and blinked when I remembered that wasn't all I knew. "Well, that, and your Quirkless," he looked like I'd struck him, but I went on. "But I don't give a shit about that." He froze, and it looked like I'd just said the sky was pink. But I ignored that. "Anyway, introduce yourself properly, like you're at a job interview. Name. Age. Strong suits. Dreams. All that." He still looked dazed, and I just didn't get i...- (Ohh. Ok Saya, you're not that stupid. Of COURSE he's stunned. Sure, me throwing everything and the kitchen sink upstairs was a lot, which he's probably ignoring to preserve his sanity, but being told I didn't care about his 'disability?' Of COURSE that's going to fuck with him. It would've been like Zaka messing with me for the first time. Him not caring about my name, or family status, and just treating me as Saya.) With that understood, I wondered about how I was going to work with this.
Thankfully, Kohta took point. Clearing his throat, he brought Midoriya out of his stupor, and focused the attention onto himself. And, with a calming smile on his face, he spoke. "Like this. Ahem. Like I said earlier, my name's Kohta Hirano. I'm 17, my strong suite would be understanding, dismantling, and creating fire arms. My dream is to make the coolest and most effective guns in the world." I snorted at that dream of his, but he took it in good faith. "What about you?"
Midoriya blinked, and after shifting for a second, nodded. "Well, um, I'm Izuku Midoriya. 16, my strong suite... I guess... I guess my strong SUITES are quirk/hero analysis and support gear. My dream?" He stood a little straighter here, and I could tell he gained confidence from SOMEWHERE. "I want to be the next #1 hero. The next Symbol of Peace." That said, Kohta grinned, and started clapping. Seeing the way that embarrassed Midoriya was interesting. "T-Thanks..."
I just rolled my eyes at those two. "Ahem." Bringing their attention back to me, I decided to give my own two cents. "First, I'd might as well do this too since I brought it up. The name's Saya Takagi. 17, my strong suites are analysis, technology, technique refinement and creation, my genius intellect, and knowledge consumption/learning. My dream is to be the best in my field, here, and wherever we go." Which was true. I wanted to learn all I could. To use that to not only make ME better, but US better. It was partly why I was so interested in Zero Dawn/Forbidden West. The focus was already an invention that was proving its worth. Eventually, the Scrapper's and other machines would too. No matter what worlds we went too, unless it was the fucking stone age or something, selling some Scrappers would net us a fortune and allow us to earn capital. Or, I could have them break down the waste into metal we could sell, or find some way to transmute those metals into something like gold. Again, easy money.
That tangent aside, I saw the two of them nod, Kohta more enthusiastically then Midoriya, and smiled. "Whew. Always got to over achieve, huh Saya?" Aaand, Kohta ruined it.
I scoffed, and unwrapped my tail from my waist. "Of course. It's ME we're talking about after all." He just gave me a cheeky grin at that, and I rolled my eyes. "Anyway. You've got a nice dream, sure. But it's kind of wrong at the same time." Midoriya blinked, shrunk a little bit, and went 'huh?' So I elaborated. "Let me put it this way. When you think about a dangerous aquatic animal, what's the first thing that pops into your mind?"
Without missing a beat, he replied. "A shark?" Good. He didn't get why, but he at least got that.
Nodding at that, I went on. "Exactly. They're pretty much the face of 'beware the ocean' and phrases like that. There are OTHERS, but sharks are at the forefront of that. Now, when people think the Symbol of Peace, who do they think of?"
"All Might." I didn't miss the reverence in his tone, but shelved it for later.
"Exactly. If you become the 'Symbol of Peace' people are going to immediately think All Might, instead of you. You could still be a symbol, but instead of peace, you should aim for something that sets you apart from him... Hmm... You're going to get his power, right?" I was pretty sure that's how the thing was going to go, but I just wanted to make sure.
Midoriya stiffened for a second, but after taking a breath, he nodded. "Y-yeah... I am..."
(Oh great, an inferiority complex.) Now I felt bad for some reason. Sighing, I decided to move on. "When you DO," I knew how to deal with an inferiority complex, I was developing one long before the world ended and Zaka came along. "It'll be YOUR power. You'd have to master it, and really make it into your own. When that happens, YOU are going to decide what kind of symbol you want to be. Peace? That's good and all that, but a Symbol of Peace already exists. Hope? That could work. Perseverance? Who knows? No one, other than you. Granted, you've got time to figure the whole thing out, but food for thought and all that." Midoriya looked at me at that, and I could practically see my words resonating with him. (Hmm... Maybe I should charge to be a motivational speaker... Nah.)
Anyway, he seemed to be taking my words to heart, and it was good. "Aww, Saya. I didn't know you cared so much about someone you just met."
My eye and ear twitched at that, and I glared at Kohta. He had this grin on his face that annoyed me, especially after what he just said. "It's not CARE, I'm giving him perspective." I really was.
Too bad Kohta didn't seem to think that, given the way his grin grew. "It's ok Saya. You can say you careee." He was dead.
My tail swished about, and I looked at him. "Quote the Raven, Hirano." He blinked for a moment, confused. But when my aura flashed a bit, and the murder of bird sized Nevermore formed behind me, he got the picture. "QUOTE THE RAVEN MOTHERFUCKER!" And so I set them upon him.
Kohta yelped when they shot after him like rockets, but shifted, and ran out of my lab. Though, the bark of 'You careeeeee!' Made me want to strangle him. I didn't care at all. I was just being nice to a potential research assistant. That was all.
And anyone that tried to say otherwise could come to me and get pecked by my Nevermore. I didn't care... Hmph.
{Izuku' POV}
As I watched as Hirano-senpai run out of the lab, and the murder of bird monsters made by Takagi-senpai grow and chase after him, her words echoed in my mind. 'You are going to decide what kind of symbol you want to be.' I didn't think about it like that before. I hadn't had the TIME too. But now that it's come up, I couldn't help but think on it. "(What kind of hero do I want to be?)" I always thought about being a hero. Not the next All Might, I never hoped for something like that... "(All Might is the symbol of Peace. Takagi-senpai is right. He always was, and always will be... So what kind of symbol could I... Should I, be?)" I didn't know yet, but I wanted to find out. To find my own symbol as a hero. "(I'll need to train for it first... I have time. Time to really find out who I wan to be... Yeah. Let's train first, then figure it out. The entrance exam is still 10 months away. That's enough time.)" I smiled to myself, and nodded. Train, find out who I want to be, and what kind of symbol I should be. That sounded like a plan.
With that plan set, I zoned back into the lab, and blinked when I saw Takagi-senpai give me an amused smirk, and a raised brow. I was a little worried now, because there were only a handfu...- "Takagi-senpai, huh? It's got a nice ring to it. From now on, call me that. Though, whenever you get comfortable enough to call me by my first name, you better keep the senpai, you hear me Midoriya?" I didn't ever think I'd ever get to calling her by her first name, but I wasn't going to say that.
I groaned, and after a nod, hid my head in my hands. Of course I'd said some of that out loud, why wouldn't I? "How much of that was out loud?"
The small laugh from Takagi-senpai made me worried, then she confirmed my fears. "From, 'What kind of hero do I want to be?' To, the entrance exam."
UGHHH! I tried my best to ignore the laughter of my senpai, and did my best to make the earth swallow me whole. That would save me from the embarrassment that I was currently feeling. "(Great going Izuku. You've made the BEST impression on your hot senpai. Just the beeest.)" A snort made me freeze, and I hesitantly opened my hands to look out. Takagi-senpai had a massive smirk on her face, and I could see the humor in her eyes... Oh god no...
She smirked at me, then folded her arms underneath her breasts, and puffed her chest out. Just that sight alone was enough to make me short circuit. "So I'm hot? I already knew that, but it's always great to hear." That said she got up, and STRETCHED. Her shirt lifted enough to give me a peak of her underwear, and her muscles. I could physically feel my brain starting to give up, and then Takagi-senpai landed the finishing blow. "MHMMM,~ that feels good.~" Hearing her moan was a critical hit, and I felt the world spin as I started of hitting the ground, I felt something like a pillow underneath me, which made it easier to pass out. Though, before I did, I heard senpai's voice. "Hah, suck it Saeko." Then I was dead to the world.
[Omake - Running the gauntlet. Kiriko's POV.]
The sound of Rappa being knocked on his ass filled my ears, and I sent a glance behind me to see it. The dumbass was hit by a wombo combo from the ground, and one from the training constructs. I had to try real hard not to laugh, cause if I did, I'd be next. Didn't mean I couldn't snicker at it. Rappa heard that, and groaned loud as shit. "You'll get yers Kiri! You'll get yers!"
I snorted at that, but had to focus in on the constructs trying to box me in. "Nope!" Pushing my legs, I jumped over the first dummy, twisted to dodge the 'lances' sent after me, and rolled the moment I hit the ground, to avoid the volley of 'arrows' that came next. "Hah! See tha...-" The ground under me shook, and faster then the others, a pillar formed and rocketed into me! My aura was off, since it'd be cheating if I had my super version of it on, while he only had the normal version, so I ended up getting the wind knocked out of my lungs, and flew back.
If this was before, I'd probably have a broken rib from the impact. But being a goddamn Werewolf, it was only a minor ache before my healing took care of it mid flight. That helped me ignore it and focus on nailing my landing, with a flip like I was a fucking Power Ranger. "Eh, 6/10." I looked over to Rappa, who had a smirk on his face, probably from me speaking too early, but eh, fuck em.
"Whatever. I was still in the lead." He rolled his eyes, and ran ahead of me, making me click my tongue, and run after him. I wasn't about to let him win.
*Back in HOTD, in a short Omake, I made Zaka ditch Saya in a meeting with her parents and other military officials. That's what she's getting revenge on.
