I was a hypocrite.

I thought I could take drastic actions and not feel anything, but I was mistaken.

When facing the consequences of my strategies directly, I couldn't help but feel ashamed. It was easier to kill people when you had no connection with them... but once you got to know them, even just a little, you would feel this crushing remorse inside your chest... which would, in the end, either consume you completely or turn you into a monster.

And for me, it had been the former. Slowly but surely I was losing to my guilt and regrets... and neither my blessings nor my skills were doing anything to save me from that.

And that itself was odd. I gestured at Parrot, who was in front of me explaining something to stop for a moment.

My abrupt order made her surprised, but she abided by it nonetheless.

Then frowning, I sent a telepathic message to Lin, who immediately appeared before me.
