Chapter twenty two: Win

"I got a surprise for you!" felix shouted in excitement. he kept glancing at something infront of him as if he was making sure the 'surprise' was still there. y/n's eyes widen in curiosity. leaning against the wall, she sat up. careful enough to not show her room on camera.

She had been lying to felix for almost a year now. she knew he wouldnt stop worrying about her if he came to know about her family. he would feel helpless and then the endless pity in his eyes would be unbearable to see. she didnt want to lose the happy boy he is now. so playing along turned out to be the only way for her.

"what is it?" their conversation were mostly about each other's days. nothing he said for the last hour made her feel that energetic.

"surprise~" felix turned the camera around and a man came in her view. It didnt take a second for her to realise who it was.

but the person was unaware of his presence on camera. he kept walking from place to place, "felix, clean your room!"

felix shouted back, "do it for me, will you Issac~?" the other replied with a groan and walked away. sure enough he didnt even realise they were on a video call.

"he stayed over last night. so, how was my surprise~ ." y/n moved away the camera from her face. the call went away with a short silence from both sides.

her breath began to hitch. Isaac's sudden appearence fazed her. they haven't seen each other in a long time. he, himself never tried to communicate with her, which she has long respected. who knew their sudden meeting would be like this ...

after few times of felix calling her name, she finally pulled herself together and faced the camera. "can I ... talk to him?" the other's expression changed. a guilt fell on him as he sat silent, "well .... y/n ... actually" he continued to stammer, avoiding eye contact.

"Felix stop trying to lie."

"actually...Issac requested me to never let you speak to him...".

"I see.... we'll talk later then. have a nice day~" she faked a smile and hung up the call, hoping it wasnt too odvious.

the sudden train of thought hits her. she began to remember every moment she had spent with Isaac so far. How he always protected her and stood up for her. How they were always there for each other.

Until his father forced him take over their company. they began to meet less and less. later, she moved out and never had the chance to clear their misunderstanding.

During the school run, a huge poster was hung in the hall and classroom. It got everyone to know about the upcoming event, the dance party. students were very excited for this. the whole school was discussing how it was specially arranged by Thomas.

When he entered the classroom, they cheered loudly for him. He came forward while preparing himself for whatever was to come.

others had their own thoughts on him. some knew him as the most successful dancer of this school, some knew him as a good friend. they all held high expectation from him.

Thomas cleared his throat and said in his announcement, "To make this last dance party more effective, I have set aside a special opportunity for the dancers who will be taking part in the dance floor next to their leaders."

There were few pauses from the students. they looked surprised to know about this unexpected opportunity. those who'll participate can get a chance to dance around the spotlight. it was a great chance to be known but only few acknowledged the amount of hard work they'll have to give.

Thomas left after answering few quetions. He couldnt stay around any longer since he had to announce it to more classes.

Miles approached y/n while she was busy with something else. since the moment thomas walked inside the classroom, miles couldnt help but notice the way she stared at him. It was pure affection he could never overmatch.

"Wont you take part in it?" he leaned closer to her face. y/n took in his words, "I dont see why I have to...there's so many great dancers than me."

At this point Miles couldnt tell if he was glad to hear it or not. deep down he knew what dancing meant to her. but she is simply denying this great opportunity to avoid thomas. "You've been to dance classes before. It gives you a reason to join."

"I was a mess then" - he interrupted. "I disagree ... you're better than you think." he walked away reassuring her with a warm smile.

"should I...?"

"obviously you should!", shouted isla as she stood up from her seat. It made few students turn around at them disturbingly. "be quiet..." y/n hid herself in embarrassment.

Henry spoke up while munching on his food, "I mean seriously, you should. Its a great opportunity." he turned back at his food.

y/n let out a deep sighs while staring outside. "in that case everyone is lucky enough to be chosen. "

Jay came out of the office room with a form in his hand. his face darkens while staring at the piece of paper. just then someone spoke up behind him, "I didnt think you'll actually turn my words in to action." he turned around and found Miles.

both stood still without saying anything.

miles's stare turned into glare. "do you...have some other motive?" his question surprised the other. but he managed to not show it.

"I thought you hate the fact that Im trying to approach her. why the sudden change of mind?" he continued to interrogate while jay remained still.

At last his coldness turned into a smile, "are you moving back from your words?"

"what?"

he patted miles in the back, "dont read too much into it. Let it be any of us, our main motive is to make her stay away from that guy."

"What makes you so sure of your win?" Jay smiled again. He looked at the paper in his hand, "because this time, Its me."
