(A/N): It was a close race for a really long time between Solo Leveling and Sword Art Online, but as you can see, Solo Leveling won. If this wasn't the choice that you wanted, don't worry, these options will literally reappear. After all, all three were world options I wanted to do. For the next wheel spin, expect to see Sword Art Online and One Punch Man again. Thank you for reading.
P.S.: Also, if you have better ideas for wishes, I'm willing to hear you out. But don't make them disgustingly absurd, I still need to write a story after all.
---
Hearing it's few final clicks, the wheel stops moving, having landed on Solo Leveling.
"Well piss, I didn't have wishes prepared for this one."
[Congratulations {Shiro}! The world of {Solo Leveling} has been chosen. You have {3} wishes prepared, {1} of them must be used for the race {human}.]
"Which races can I make wishes for, besides human of course?"
[…The races available are {Ice Elf}, {Demon}, {Ant}, and {Dragon}. Any other race is either blocked by GOD or there is not enough information.]
"Blocked by GOD?"
"It means exactly what you think it means." Startled by the voice, I turn around to find GOD staring back, "I've added a few restrictions to the types of races that you can turn into. Say that it breaks the standards of what a human form can do, for example Giants, then I've restricted them from the wish pool. The only exception to this is of course the dragon, but that's simply because they have a human base form."
"So, nothing larger than a human?"
"Unless it's just by a small margin or an innate ability of said race, then no. I'd rather not get flashed every time you turn into something bigger, that would not be entertaining."
'So, that was the reason.' I think to myself.
"Also, the world you're going to, Solo Leveling was it… I've decided to hold your wives in this rift for a while."
Taken aback, I quickly ask, "Why?"
"As I've said before, this is majority for my enjoyment as a watcher and I determined that if you had the assistance of your wives, then you'd easily deal with all problems that may occur. I want to watch you suffer just as much as Sung Jinwoo."
"You say that you want to watch me suffer, but couldn't I just live a comfortable life as a B (or higher)-Rank Hunter?" I can't help but ask.
In return, GOD lets out a boisterous laugh, "Oh please! Your technically only E rank by that world standards." I give him a strange look, "You'll understand soon anyway. Now, make your wishes, won't you?"
Hesitantly turning back to the blue screen in front of me, I lick my lips.
"For my two other races, I guess I'll choose Dragon and Ice Elves I guess."
[Affirmative.]
Thinking hard about the world of Solo Leveling, I finally decide my wishes, "For my human wish, I want to achieve powers like that of Sung Jinwoo as he becomes the Shadow Monarch, only instead of Shadow, it's instead Light. When it comes to being a Dragon, I guess I wish that the type of Dragon I become from my human form resembles that of the breathing art that I'm using, and my breath attack will be the same. Finally, for an Ice Elf…, I guess that I wish to create weapons made of ice…"
"Man, those are some pretty mild wishes."
"Shut up, I didn't know what to wish."
[Your wishes have been accepted.] The blue screen in front of me reads.
Turning back to GOD upon seeing the wishes accepted, I see him rubbing his chin, "Just so you know, a certain criterion must be met for you to start your journey to level up. Once you complete said criterion, I'll of course return your strength to you. Plus, if you manage to complete the 'system' that's made to accompany the wish you made, then I'll even return your wives to you. Now quickly, choose your age and place."
Stunned by the information, I stutter out, "Umm, I think I-I'll be 17-year-old and place me around the same area as Sung Jinwoo. Put me… two years before the start of the timeline."
[Request has been accepted. Please have a safe trip.]
"Now that I think about it, if you want to have powers like that of Sung Jinwoo, then I suppose that I'll have to limit your strength just a tad bit. With that, Good Luck!"
"Wait, no, hold on… then I wanna change my age and…"
My words were cut off and moments later, I find myself stumbling in what appears to be an alley way. It seemed to be midnight as only the streetlamp gave me a semblance of light. Walking out of the alley, I find myself staring upwards at a building with several flights, all still with their lights on.
Coming closer to the building, the nameplate becomes visible, letting me see that it reads the "Korean Hunters' Association". I mean, it was extremely helpful to be able to do a rank examination, but hadn't I asked to be placed next to Sung Jinwoo, why was I here?
However, even though I asked that, I couldn't help myself from waltzing up to the door. Bypassing the guards at the front after depositing my weapons, I enter to find two individuals at the front desk, one facing the television while the other faced forward, listening to what the other had to say.
The man who was watching the TV, upon noticing me, quickly leaned over to his partner, and whispered, "This happens from time to time. People who don't want to be caught in the spotlight for their bad ranks come in this late at night. It's a waste of effort to deal with him for long. Just let him know that the cost is on him and send him to the Power Detection Room."
"Yes." Quickly turning and facing me, the female receptionist put on her business smile, quickly greeted me, and asked, "Are you here for a rank examination?"
Nodding my head, she continues. "Alright then, that'll cost 60,000 Won."
"Do you guys take Yen?"
Blinking for a few moments until she processed my request, she then nodded her head. Reaching under my Demon Slayer Uniform, I took out my wallet, producing a 10,000 Yen Bill. Taking it from me, the girl looks at it strangely.
"What year is this from?" This elicits a look from her partner, who's also just as befuddled.
"I think it's about 100 years old." I answer.
Accepting the money, I'm then led to the back rooms and to a waiting area. After a few moments, I'm called in and I see a giant black orb surrounded by a purple, fluorescent fence. Off to the left of it was where the woman went, standing behind the machine that would give her the readings.
"Could I have your name?"
"Shiro Urokodaki."
"Have you perhaps been ranked before? It is illegal to go from one country to another and do a reranking."
Having most likely thought I was Japanese based on my name, I quickly reply, "No, no, this is my first-time testing."
"Mmm, okay. Also, you aren't registered with the Korean Hunters' Association, so you'll be needing to fill in a bit of paperwork after this test."
Nodding my head, she continues, "Please place your hand on the black orb there and wait then." Waiting for a moment, the girl gives my ranking. "You're an E-Rank Hunter."
Having my expectations shattered, I whip my head and ask, "How does that work?"
"Well…, the orb is to test the magical powers of an individual. A normal individual has around 0-5 in terms of reading, however you managed to barely break that with a score of 15."
It all then clicked, and I finally understood why it was that GOD had laughed at me before. Because I was born in the world of Demon Slayer, I hadn't experienced the magic power boom of this world, therefore, I shouldn't even have a magic power rating.
[That'd be my doing.] A blue box appeared in front of me, nearly initiating my flight or fight reaction. [Well, now that you understand, it's time to suffer.]
Confused by the second line as I fill out the appropriate paperwork, the weirdest feeling comes over my wrist. Looking down, I watch as a black band snakes around it and then reconnect itself. In that exact moment, it felt as though a pile of bricks had been dropped on my shoulders. Proceeding to finish the paperwork, I receive my Hunter Card.
Exiting from the Korean Hunters' Association, I can't help but wonder what I would have ranked had I revealed my strength. Though, that would prove to be a fruitless endeavor now that my strength was limited by GOD. May we all bless him.
But now that I'm an actual hunter in the country of Korea, I had one other problem that I had to address, where will I stay. As of now, I'm a homeless and seemingly uneducated 17-year-old whose strength isn't even notable enough for other Hunters to even think of letting me to stay at their place.
Now, I did have more money on me, but I'd rather not have the government on my booty simply because I'm using Japanese Yen from over a hundred years ago. Having wandered aimlessly while in said dilemma, the heavy heaving of breaths instantly attracts my attention.
Watching a shadow being swagger through the darkness, said shadow demon is illuminated by a streetlamp. And in turn, I see a short, scrawny young man with hair long enough to completely cover his ears. His face is very boyish, and he's dressed in a simple blue hoodie and jeans. Yet the most obvious feature about him was the bandages that covered his body. Similarly, his clothes were in tatters. He must've gone on a raid without a healer in his party, leading for his injuries to be either self-treated or by someone who didn't know what they were doing.
"Excuse me, sir, are you alright?" I can't help but ask.
Yet, he completely ignores my question, walking in a set direction, almost as if he were a dead man walking. Had I been anyone else, I would have just walked away, angry, but because of influence by my ever so lovely wife Shinobu, seeing an injured person seemed to turn me sympathetic. Strutting up to said individual, I wave my hand in front of his face and only then does he truly recognize my existence.
"Can… I help… you." His speech was slightly slurred, and I could tell that he was only a few moments from passing out on the middle of the street.
"Do you need help?" I begin, "Even though I may not look it, I am rather an expert when it comes to medical treatments. Plus, you're unlikely to make it back to wherever it is that you're heading if you're to continue alone, so let me ease some of your burden. And then once we get to your residence, if that is where you're going, then I can properly administer the proper treatment to your wounds rather than this heinous work that covers your body."
He looked slightly taken aback, most likely trying to comprehend everything that I had said. "Sure."
Elated that he had accepted my help, I quickly hooked his arm around my neck. Almost instantly, he became like a dead weight, nearly taking me down since I had to carry the weight of my weapons and now him as well.
Lightly slapping his face, I say, "Hey, hey, no passing out on me now, I need you to guide me after all."
"Sorry… sorry." He mumbles.
Following his curt directions, it takes a few more minutes before we arrive in front of an apartment complex and we approach the worst enemy of injured people, stairs.
"How many flights?" I sigh.
"Second Floor, Room 247"
Oh, thank goodness, only the second floor.
Struggling to get the two of us up the stairs, I arrive in front of his door and go to ask how it is that I can get in, the door shoots open and reveals who I presume to be his sister. She's a slender teenage girl with gray eyes and brownish-black hair which is held up into a ponytail.
"Pardon the intrusion, but your brother here looked like he about to pass out at any moment, so I took the liberty to bring him here."
Most likely having been shocked awake by my words, she directs me inside and tells me to put him on the couch.
Coughing into her hand, she says, "Thank you for bringing him here, and apologies, we don't have anything to compensate you."
"Who said I was done?" I arch an eyebrow.
"Eh?"
Now, it's time to execute the knowledge I learned from Shinobu.
"Sir, I'm going to strip you now so that I can properly address your wounds, is that alright?" I was fully aware that I was taking advantage of the state of delirium that this young, injured man was in, but I don't care.
Getting a nod of the head, I immediately remove his shirt.
"W-What are you doing?!?" His sister screams.
"Properly cleaning and dressing his wounds, if we leave him like this then they'll fester and grow."
"W-we can just go to a healer tomorrow, there's no reason for you to do this!"
"But healers cost money." I state while removing the stuck-on bandages, "Along with that, he'll be in extreme pain tomorrow morning if these wounds are left alone. Even if they're not that deep," I feel up the wound I revealed, "The sheer number of them is problematic. And you can trust me, this isn't the first time that I've dealt with superpowered individuals before or seen others naked before."
His sister could only stand there with her mouth open, but no sound coming out. Having stood there for a minute, watching me work, she slinked away, soon bringing back a first aid kit.
'How I wish I had all this stuff readily available all those years ago.' I think to myself as I stare at the antiseptic.
Continuing my work, uninterrupted, I finally finish dressing all his wounds and lean backwards, out of breath. If this is what Shinobu feels like all the time, then it's a wonder how she can deal with so many patients.
"Is it over?" Looking at his sister, I nod my head, "Thank you, but as I said before, we really don't have anything to repay you."
Looking at her complicated expression, can't help but give a light smile.
"How about this then, as a sort of payment, you let me stay here tonight. It's rather late, and I don't have anywhere else to go as of right now."
Her expression grows even more complicated than before as she looks between her brother and then back to me.
"You promise not to do anything?" She shrinks.
"As my pride as a Hashira, I swear." I raise my hand.
"Well, I guess one night would be fine then."
"Thank you miss…"
Her face glows, "Sung Jinah. And you are?"
"Shiro Urokodaki, an E-Rank Hunter."
