It seems a bit weird.
Indeed.
I am still not sure how do these photos got printed on something which is supposed to be published far before even the things on them were started appearing.
But, There is one possiblity though.
Aliens were appearing on Earth far before they had initiated an attack.
But again, It's still just a possiblity. Just a blatant explaination to my brain which can't believe so easily that it can sometimes- Be wrong.
Then, I wondered if the person who got my boss this book may have got his hands on it from the place I came across them. But, nor I knew the person, and nor I knew where my boss or that person got his hands on this.
Curiosity, is a filthy desire- something, that can make a human to do anything.
.
.
"Who got you this Boss?"-I asked.
"A person.", He continued with an ignorant voice- "He is an old friend of mine. And I think you know the rules. Right?"
The rules, were something which I had to agree on before joining the work here. According to it, Nor he will ask about my past life, nor I can. In a way- it's pretty much enough problem to me if someone asks me about my past. Afterall, I want that past to be hidden to even myself.
So, I agreed.
"Yeah...I know. I won't ask about him then, But can you tell me where he got this?"- I asked in a last effort to get some info.
I wanted know if this book was really found from where I found those 'bits' of similar books.
"Where he got this?", He said; and took a breath to think and answered- "South Calcutta, Old sectors."
"Old Sectors? the one which got wrecked by the Tsunami three years ago?", I asked as Victoria memorial was situated at that sector; and I got those books in vicinity of it's perimeters.
"Seems Yes, but..."
Boss suddenly stopped speaking.
I turned my eyes towards him, just to find a cold and dreadful stinger's both barrels pointed at my head within inches.
The hands holding it, were well built- I bet the person was an actual soldier formerly. As I looked up towards the 6 feet masculine figure with a well-defined body and armour; which stood against me with the gun in his hand, I realized he had an Army tag on his neck for real, and the type of hair he had over his wrinkled and scarred face gave my prediction of him as a former army personel getting clear as water.
"Hands up!"
A thundering sound ran across the room, and the man armed with the 6-shot stinger* roared at me, with his hands having something that had enough firepower to break through a fourth-grade armour**, not to mention my squishy small head.
As from where he got in, It was obvious as I could clearly see the maintenance vent open- which was connected to the top floor over the basement; from where some sounds were still coming.
Seeing myself at a great disadvantage, I raised my both hands slowly- while my eyes took a look on my boss, who was standing with his hands raised; just beside the man standing before me.
He nodded a little, gesturing me to be ready for a defensive. Afterall- We were two, and he was yet, one.
.
.
"Put your hands behind your head!"
The Man standing before me shouted, as I was slow to raise my hands.
I started moving my hands backwards, My boss stole a look on me, and winked his eyes.
I knew what he wanted to do, and I knew what I have to.
I nodded, and in the next fraction of a second, my boss pushed the man holding the gun as firm as he could; towards me, causing the man before me to lean forwards me- with his gun and eyes no more aimed at my head.
I got the chance.
The chance to change the tide of the 'disadvantage' to a better 'vantage'.
My hands which were going backwards- suddenly sprung on the central battery connectors of the gun, which were now exposed towards me as the gun was now leaning forwards. With a little effort, I pulled that out quickly, meaning the gun now had only two bullets to be fired with a soft chance to get jammed.
Stingers are fairly old, and since they rely on the central batteries to charge their vaccum-based firing system, they have a chance to get jammed up if not supplied with the battery power. And, I just pulled that battery connection off that gun.
But, suddenly- I felt a severe thud on my hands, and was thrown back a feet or two away from the man who was now back from the shock of that push and pull.
.
.
Turning back, he flung his hands towards my boss, giving him a bash that ended up him hitting the wall behind him.
He waved his gun towards my boss, firing a shot deep on his left leg- making that burp out whole of a lot of blood and fluid along with bits of his bone scattered where he fell down.
He cursed him in rage and eventually turned towards me-
Me, still suffering from the pain that 'thud' he gave to my hands.
"You cunning insects! I will kill you now!"- he shouted in rage; pointing his gun straight on my head.
He was too strong.
Too much to be handled by me on my own.
But, my boss was stunned by the shot he got on legs and was too shocked to even make a run to save his life, it would be too much of him, if he can even think about saving me.
The Gun was still at my head, and with the determination I saw on that person's eye- I knew he will definitely fire that lousy gun on my softy-soft head, blasting it off like nothing.
I was helpless with my one hand seeming out of action of the strike, and as the Gun didn't get jammed even after pulling that connector off- I knew, it is the end.
I was losing everything-
Time
, wits
, tricks
and yeah- life.
