In The Begining

Izuku P.O.V

"98, 99, and 100." Izuku immediately collapsed on the floor of his room. Arms too tired to support the weight of his body. They felt like jelly even though he spaced out the number of pushups he did in intervals of 10 with five to ten-minute breaks in between. It wasn't just his arms in this condition either, his whole body was.

Izuku's current state didn't surprise him have. This was the obvious outcome when you're a twelve-year-old doing exercises most adults couldn't complete. But it had all been worth it, by completing the exercise he could prove to himself that the system was indeed real and not a figment of his imagination.

Finally, the work is done. It always will be... is what Izuku wanted to say but he didn't. He knew that the quest was daily and would be back tomorrow but with the strain his body was put under from just doing the exercise today it would be impossible to get the quest done tomorrow.

Izuku briefly considered giving up on doing the quest tomorrow in favor of resting but his mind wouldn't let him. It began to play scenes of the past that still haunted him to this day. Scenes that reminded him of his weakness.

"Ha Ha, with a quirk so useless you're the perfect punching bag. Huh, Izuki coming? Shit! Everyone scram!" The bully said while beating him up.

"Look kid there's nothing you could have done. Don't beat yourself up about it." A police officer that came their home for a statement said.

"You're that Izuku kid from the villain attack, right? You're just a kid and with your quirk, there is nothing you could have done to help. Just focus on honoring your sister by living a good." A local hero told Izuku during his witness protection period.

"It's because you're so useless and weak that Izuki is dead!" The ex-best friend shouted accusingly at Izuku.

When he snapped out of the flashbacks his resolve became strong as steel. 'No! I can't slack off. I finally have a way to get stronger, I can't waste this opportunity. I'll complete the quests even if I have to break every bone in my body to do it.' Izuku's declared.

As if responding to his resolve a tingly feeling spread throughout Izuku's body and all of a sudden his fatigue was gone. Not just that but he felt noticeable stronger. Izuku immediately attributed his recovery to the system and opened the Status page.

"I see. So after a level up, I recover from fatigue." This was great news to Izuku because this meant he could always complete the daily quest so long as he leveled up.

Izuku also noticed all his stats had increased by one and that he had a new ability, Identify. He wanted to use the new ability but had no idea how. It was at times like this he wished the system came with a tutorial mode or instruction manual. But it didn't, so he was forced to rely on the web novels for guidance on how to use the system.

Lots of the web novels showed the character magically knowing how to use the system's abilities with no guidance whatsoever so that wasn't very helpful. Others showed the system giving instructions on how to use them but his didn't. So he resorted to doing what he believed anyone in his situation would do. Press random buttons and use certain keywords.

To his surprise, pressing random buttons actually worked! He pressed Identify on the system screen learned how to use it.

--------------------------------------------------------

[Identify]

-Allows the user to divine information on anyone or anything within eyesight. To activate the user only needs to think the ability name while focusing on what they want to identify. Only one thing can be Identified at a time.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Knowing the prerequisite to activate the ability he focused on the closest thing to him which was a picture of his sister and his as babies.

'[Identify]' he thought.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Izuku started to become excited. He had to test out this ability more! He had already fully believed the system was real and not a figment of his imagination when he miraculously recovered from his strenuous exercise. But having gained real power from it made the reality of things settle in.

After all, he had just done the impossible and gained a second quirk! Right now, he was the only one in the world with two completely different quirks!

For the next ten minutes, izuku would use identify on anyone and everything he could. He even called out random people names he learned with the ability from his room window just to see if they would react. They did and what made Izuku even more excited was that identify told showed him what people's quirks were and what they do along with their name.

This would be a massive advantage for him when he became a hero. Not only would he be able to catch villains with civilian identities with minimal difficulty but he would have all information he needed on his opponent quirk to work around it and defeat it. He continued to pounder all the different applications of his new quirk in a rapid muttering spree all while writing down his thoughts in a mini notebook that was supposed to be another hero analysis but was being delegated to researching the system abilities.

When izuku was done with his notes he realized the fun didn't have to end here. After all, he did get a Gacha Ticket for powers.

He opened the system status window and tapped the Power Gatcha Ticket. A notice screen with a confirmation prompt to use the ticket popped up.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Are You Sure You Want To Use The [Power Gatcha Ticket]?

(Yes/No)

-----------------------------------------------------------

He tapped the yes option and it brought up a giant blue screen almost as big as his body with a picker wheel. The picker wheel had 24 different powers ranging from mundane powers like super strength and enhanced senses to more exotic and mysterious ones like Photokinesis and Sage Mode.

His earlier excitement came back to life like fire-given oxygen and pressed a big red button with the kanji for spin below the wheel on the screen. The wheel began to move at high speeds, blurring before his eyes. After a few seconds, it gradually began slowing down and after another few seconds, the wheel slowed to a halt. The arrow stopped at [Shadow Projection].

While Izuku was excited to have a new power he was kinda hoping for super strength. Not only would he be more like All Might, but he would have an easier time doing the daily quest.

He wouldn't complain tho, shadow projection sounded like a really cool ability and it was a new avenue to get stronger and break away from his current weakness. Izuku was just about to test out his new ability when a new screen spread before him.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Notice]

Achievement Made

Spin The Wheel is now complete

Awarded- 20 EXP

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Izuku was surprised, he hadn't considered that the system would have achievements. He was going to have to explore the system more than before to make sure he wasn't missing any.

The tingling feeling came back and Izuku once again felt stronger. He was about to bring up his status when another notice popped up.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Notice]

The system sees that you have stepped into the shadows, but all things must have balance. Shadow cannot exist without light so neither shall you.

Awarded- Ability: Light Projection and Title: Favored By The System.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Did the system just give me a free b? I also gained another title, what exactly are those?" Izuku pondered out loud.

He was so caught up in the power aspect of the system that he didn't give the titles anything but a quick once over. He should probably get to that now but... There are cool powers to use and train! Besides he could always get back to it later.

After his brief interest in the title aspects of the system vanished he brought up the status window of the system and tapped on the Shadow Projection power.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Shadow Projection]

The user can shape and manipulate darkness and shadows. By itself, Shadow Projection only use is to cast everything into total darkness. However, by focusing negative energy a variety of effects can be achieved, such as creating beings of the shadow with limited intelligence, binding people and objects with shadows, access to the shadow realm, and feeling negative emotions of others.

To generate negative energy focus on negative emotions, memories, and thoughts.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Light Projection]

The user can shape, and manipulate light and brightness. By Itself, Light Projection can only be used to produce a blinding radiance. However, by focusing positive energy a variety of effects can be achieved, such as creating solid light constructs, photon blasts, healing, and a calming aura.

To generate positive energy focus on positive emotions, memories, and thoughts.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The power description gave no instruction on how to use them, unlike identify. Other than how to generate each ability's respective power sources he had no idea how to use the powers he had been given. But with enough time and the hints he already had Izuku was sure he could get his new powers to work.

For now, he would begin by documenting his progress with his powers and the discoveries he made while trying to master the system in the journal he dedicated to documenting the system.

Journal Entry #1

Today marks the first day I gained the system's power. It's honestly the best thing to happen to me since the attack. I finally have the power needed to be the hero big sis wanted me to be and just maybe… No big sis wouldn't want me to think like that. Anyways, today I gained 2 levels making me LVL 3. I also gained three new quirks or abilities as the system calls them. Identify and Light and Shadow Projection. They seem very versatile but I haven't quite gotten down to how to use the powers but I know with more time I will. I have to. For her.

Light projection is amazing! I wish daily quest still gave out Power Gatcha Ticket so I could try out more powers but it dosent. At least I finally have the basics of Light Projection down. It took a while to learn how to will my powers to work but I did it. I'm now capable of making simple light constructs like swords and walls when I channel positive energy.

Channeling positive energy turned out to be the easiest part of the powers, all I had to do was focus on the days before the attack. When… things were better… big sis alive… kaachan a friend. I miss those days. Normally the memories are blurry at best, non-existent at worst, the doctor said it was a coping mechanism my mind made or something. But lately, the memories are as clear as day, and I stopped having nightmares. As a matter a fact, I have actually been waking up happy. At what, I still have no clue but it's made using my new powers easy. Is this the power of the system?

I've also made it to LVL 4 which is great since yesterday left me all kinds of sore. But at the same time feeling that strain and soreness keeps me working hard. It's proof of my weakness, the weakness that made kaachan hate me, and the weakness that killed my sister.

Journal Entry #25

Today, I finally gained, what I think is, advanced proficiency with my Light Projection. I've become more capable of managing lots of light projections at once and I've managed to figure out how to use photon blasts. I only wish a park tree didn't have to have a gaping hole in it as a result. I don't know how to use the healing power the ability description said this power has but I've figured out how to properly fly with my projection. I've also advanced to LVL 6, I want to level up faster but the daily quest gives very little EXP, and it's hard to recover fast enough to do the quest every day without a level up. With no way to know achievements to do to gain EXP and no quest but the daily one it was becoming increasingly more difficult to level up. Should I focus on my powers instead of the daily quest? I don't want to but with school coming up it dosent seem like I have a choice.

Journal Entry #32

September 30, XXXX

Today I tried using my Shadow Projection, I hadn't tried to use it until now because in order to generate negative energy I needed to focus on bad memories that I don't want to revisit. But with my progress in light projection slowing down and EXP not coming in as often as I want it to, it became necessary to use it in order to keep my growth from declining even more than it already has.

The results were not pleasant. While I was able to use the Shadow Projection without negative energy enhancement just fine when I began to focus on using negative energy to enhance Shadow Projection things took a turn for the worse. My memories of the attack, the police telling me my sister was dead, kaachan blaming me for her death, and many more unpleasant memories came up. The more unpleasant memories came up the more negative emotions I felt. This fuelled Shadow projection so much that I lost control of my power and pure darkness spread throughout my entire apartment complex, according to the witnesses. I managed to stop my rampage power by channeling positive energy. But I guess using negative and positive energy together is a big no-no because I fainted shortly after. Somethings that never happened no matter how much I use my other powers.

The police are investigating but no one suspects me because of my quirk. I feel bad for not turning myself in.

Shortly after Izuku passed out a strange phenomenon happened in his room. Two beings, one that was made of solid blinding light and the other of tangible abyssal darkness came into being. Both are on opposite ends of his room. Power poured out from their forms, each covering half the room.On the side the being of light was on, all that existed was blinding light and on the side of darkness all that existed was shadow. If someone were to witness what was happening it would look as if heaven and the abyss existed together in just this one room.

The being of light was short, barely reaching 5 feet, humanoid, and could pass as a human child if not for the fact that its face and body were completely featureless. The being of light floated in place facing the being of darkness.

The being of darkness, like the being of light, was also short and humanoid but unlike its opposite had eyes and a mouth. The eyes were simple two white holes with small amounts of gray mist coming out the rims of its eyes. The mouth was near invisible as the lines that passed for lips on its face were very thin. The shadowy being of darkness stood still and straight staring and the being of light.

Both beings ignored the unconscious Izuku on the floor and moved a step closer to each other. Then another and another until they were near the edge of their domains and with arms reach of each other.

"Help me... save me.... help me... help me... save me" the being of darkness uttered in what was almost a whisper. It spoke slowly and its voice sounded like that of a crying child. Its lips did not match the words not coming out of its mouth. The being of darkness reached out its right hand with its palm forward.

"I am here. I'll save you, I'll save everyone" responded the being of Light. It spoke slowly and sounded very child-like but unlike the being of darkness did not speak in a near whisper. Its voice unlike its counterpart was happy, almost giddy. It moved its left hand to the same position as its opposite.

Before both beings could move to make contact with each other Izuku stirred from unconsciousness and they disappear in an instant as if they were never there.

Back in the system control room, Stella only had one question.

"What the fuck just happened?"
