The Lazy Little Boy

On a very large field, a mid-sized herd of goats were grazing in the field full of lush grass and small hills. It was a nice and cloudy day and the goats seemed as if they were enjoying the glaring radiance of the sun, as well as the deep green and seemingly endless grass.

The person supposed to be keeping the goats was nowhere that the goats could see, so they grazed without a care in the world.

On a little hill, in a part of the field where not many people look or walk, a little boy was currently snoozing off all of the thinking he had just done. He was just laying there, snoozing away, when a rather scrawny goat ran over and came to a grinding halt when it was a mere meter away from the boy. It looked at the boy with a lot of energy. The strangest thing, though, wasn't the little goat's size, but rather the intelligent gleam that shone within it's eyes.

The boy was abruptly pulled from the nice dream he was having and he jumped up. He looked around with all of the power his eyes could muster and he saw no one. He was confused but didn't think too much of it. With a sigh, he settled his nerves. He then bent down in order to brush all of the dust off of his pants when he saw a little, scrawny goat, looking at him with beady eyes. He fiercely looked at the little goat until he couldn't take it anymore and smiled dotingly as he petted the little goat and started playing with it.

After a while, they both got tired and the boy decided he would round up all the goats and head home. After about ten minutes, all the goats were rounded up and he began the two-hour walk home. It was almost night-time when the boy made it back to his parents house. He looked at the house with a little bit of gloating in his expression. He then passed by the main house and out to where they kept the goats.

He unlocked the gate and then made a strange hand sign, then began speaking after he covered his mouth with his hands. The craziest thing happened. When he spoke, it sounded like a goat's bleating, but the goats acted as if they had received an order from their general and followed his very simple order without any hesitation. He ordered the goats to neatly walk into the pen. After all the goats were in the pen, he locked the gate, and the scrawny little goat once again made an appearance by pushing his way through the herd. When he made it to the gate, the boy looked at it and looked as if he was struggling within his own mind. He wanted to take the little goat inside again, but tonight was different. He was to receive his name and the assessment of his Dao tomorrow. Thus, he needed to sleep well in order to be ready. However, this goat was like his best friend and he wanted to take him inside so that he could play with it some more. He ultimately decided to bring in the little goat.

When he made his way inside, goat at his side, his father, Ling Wei, was waiting for him with a solemn expression. Ling Wei was a rather tough looking man and he was built with a lot of lean and tough muscle. He used to be in the army, but he retired after the war due to fear of developing a heart demon. A heart demon was something all cultivators both feared and hated. Ling Wei was not exempt. What a heart demon does is it halts cultivation and can possibly make one's cultivation regress.

He wasn't crazy handsome but he wasn't bad looking, either. His wife, Ling Rou was the real beauty in the family. The boy had inherited his fathers personality on a large basis while receiving his mother's good looks. He had flowing black hair that he kept mostly in a ponytail, but the little bit that hung out was tied in a braid that hung on the left part of his forehead. He had fair but tough skin that was pure white and his complexion was slightly rosy. His family was neither rich nor poor, so he wore robes which were decent looking and complemented his face. Overall, he was a handsome kid.

When Ling Wei saw his son, he beckoned to the chair beside him. The boy listened to his father and sat at the chair that was beside him. As soon as he sat, his father spoke up in his deep voice,"Son, have you decided on your name?"

When the boy heard this, he looked at his father as if trying to make him remember something. As if Ling Wei could read his son's mind, he sighed before adding,"Both of your names?" When he said this, the little goat looked as if things had just been put right. The boy then looked at his father with grin and said with a confident nod,"Yup!"
