Missing

In the little village that Ling Hong lived in, Rockfell village, everything was almost the same. The birds were chirping, the trees rustling, the animals frolicking. The only thing that was off was the energetic atmosphere that engulfed the entire village. Everyone was running around and trying to prepare the Naming Ceremony. This was a huge deal no matter where one went, after all. No matter how much of a genius you were, you still couldn't begin cultivation until you received your name. Nobody knows why, but a name isn't valid until one turns seven years old.

Elsewhere in the village, in a little corner of the village, there was a house with a quiet atmosphere. You might ask yourself why it is so quiet and the answer would be the fact that everyone was still asleep.....

One had to know that every other person in the village was currently hustling here and there in order to prepare the ceremony faster.

This house was none other than Ling Hong's house.

Inside a certain room, a boy and a goat lay in bed, snoozing there woes away, when a sudden burst of life rudely yanked him from his dream. He grudgingly rolled over, only to see his mother looking at him with a caring gaze. His mother, Ling Rou, then walked over to Ling Hong's dresser and grabbed some breakfast, then bringing it to Ling Hing in order for him to have a best possible day. She then sat at the foot of his bed, coincidentally where Xie Zhi was currently sitting, and spoke as she unconsciously started to pet him,"Good morning, Hong'er. I was starting to worry that you wouldn't wake in time for the ceremony, so I woke you instead."

She was so caring and gentle that Ling Hong really couldn't be mad. So, instead of whining, he sat up and said,"Good morning, mother. I probably would have slept in if you hadn't reminded me. Thank you." He then dug in to the meal that was still warm. When he began to eat, Ling Rou got up to leave, but she was stopped by the little goat, who had a wronged expression, somehow. Ling Rou smiled and went into the kitchen, coming back in about the time it took to brew a cup of tea, carrying a miniature version of Ling Hong's breakfast.

But, by the time she made it to the bed, Ling Hong had already finished eating. So, he got up and said to Xie Zhi,"I'm going to go outside to prepare for the Naming Ceremony, so hurry and eat quickly so you can also get prepared." After saying that, he went outside to sit and rest his mind. A little while later, a small goat ran from within the house outside into the area where Ling Hong was sitting. It looked a little bit sluggish as it moved towards him. Apparently, it had eaten its fill.

Xie Zhi sauntered over to where Ling Hong was sitting. As he did, he looked a slight bit more plump, making him look very awkward. As he got to where Ling Hong was, he then jumped into his lap and started snoozing. Ling Hong was mad that his little friend was being so nonchalant about everything. He quickly belted it on the head with a palm strike. Xie Zhi instantly awoke upon sensing the palm coming at him, but was unable to dodge. It looked wronged and when it raised its head, it was looking at Ling Hong pathetically. When Ling Hong saw this, he nearly did it again.

'The heck! You're the one supposed to be helping me prepare for the festival! You should really get your act together!'

Despite thinking all this, all he did was glare menacingly at the audacious little goat. After that little episode, Ling Hong got up and, although unwillingly, Xie Zhi got up as well. After dusting himself off, Ling Hong went inside his house in order to tell his parents that he was going to the village to help with the festival.

Upon entering the house, Ling Hong saw his mother and father conversing with each other. He walked over to them and sat at the table and said,"Good morning father. I hope you slept well. I was just about to head into the village to help them with the preparations. I hope I can?" When he said the last part, it was with a questioning tone.

Ling Wei was enjoying his meal Ling Rou had made for him when Ling Hong suddenly asked this, so he was unable to respond to him for a moment. Truthfully, it wasn't the timing which stumped him, rather, it was the thing that Ling Hong said which shocked him into speechlessness. One had to know that Ling Hong was incredibly lazy. He knew he would outgrow it eventually, but not this soon. He was only shocked for a moment before he suddenly jolted and said in a hurry,"Of course it is okay! You should be able to go to the village and help out by yourself. However, you must be back before dark. We would worry if you stayed out any longer than that." He was ecstatic that his son would take the initiative to do something.

Ling Hong was happy that his parents were so happy. As soon as he heard them, eagerly headed out the door and made his way toward the village. As he was walking out the door, Xie Zhi suddenly appeared beside him, eager to explore the village.

When Long Hong saw this, he smiled and said,"I'm excited to!" After he said this, they began to make their way to the village. The village was about thirty minutes away from their house. They were well respected by the village because his mom and dad and served in the army and were quite famous. They were war heroes, and the village gave them a large plot of land.

Ling Hong was imagining what it would be like when he became a cultivator. He thought it would be a waste of time to cultivate, but after hearing of the possibilities once he became a cultivator, he couldn't help but think twice about his initial thoughts. He was daydreaming about these things when Xie Zhi awoke him from his stupor by bleating to notify him that something had appeared in the forest ahead. Ling Hong was at first confused, then he looked towards the treeline and saw a circle of balls of light. there were three of them, each a different colour. One was red and was shaking and fluctuating as if it would unravel at any moment. The second one was purple and stood at the top of the circle. It somehow looked disdainful and arrogant. The third was odd due to it being black in colour. It was calm and moved here and there at random. It was slow and peaceful, but also morose and depressing.

It was weird being able to see personality in colours such as this. Ling Hong was still standing there when each ball of light suddenly charged at his glabella. He was able to see this but unable to react in time to dodge or block. After they all burrowed their way through his glabella, Ling Hong didn't feel any different, but after a moment, he felt as if his head had just been split down the middle by an axe. He immediately dropped to the floor and started rolling around while screaming in agony. He truly couldn't understand how he was in such pain, but at the moment, he had no rational thoughts in his mind, only pain and the craving for death. Right as he was about to attempt suicide, he fell unconscious and lay there limply.

Xie Zhi was concerned and scared, so it went up to Ling Hong and cuddled up to him. It didn't understand what was happening either so it could only keep Ling Hong warm.

Inside Ling Hong's body and soul, numerous changes were occurring that would affect everybody in the entire world.
