BURSTED?

Ogar looked from uncle Travis to aunt Sheila in disbelief. Goosebumps appeared all over his body. His heart began to beat faster as he saw his uncle's countenance change from sweet to sour. What about all the talk about wishing she had a male child? She never spoke about this son of hers to anyone, at least not that Ogar knew of.

Uncle Travis sat resting his left elbow on the table. Minka and Nkom wore a look of embarrassment which led Ogar to turn away from looking at them. He moved his gaze to aunt Sheila. What happened that she had to omit such a sensitive detail?

Uncle Travis looked at aunt Sheila. Ramses seemed ignorant of the scene playing out. He was overwhelmed with joy to meet people. The young man reached to shake uncle Travis. Uncle Travis shook him rather reluctantly, staring in unbelief like he had seen a ghost.

Ogar already knew how this would end. He heard the youngman say "my sisters have grown up so quickly. It's been a while since I saw pictures of them. Had it been that I had not come here now, I would have passed them on the street without recognizing them."

Ogar felt a little disappointed when he heard that.

So Minka knew she had an elder brother and she never cared to mention it to him? How did she view her relationship with him? Did she even care about him the way he cared about her? Did she notice that he had feelings for her? There wasn't any point dwelling on the topic but he just couldn't help it. Ogar was so deeply engrossed in his thoughts that he didn't notice that the youngman had been speaking to him.

Due to his inability to respond, the youngman reached out and took Ogar's hand in his hand. He shook him and smiled.

"You must be Ogar" he said.

"Heard so much about you" he smiled as he took a seat. Ogar was confused as to how to react. He didn't want to smile back especially because he didn't want to offend uncle Travis. He felt uncomfortable with the situation as well.

While he was busy accusing his uncle of being untruthful he was unaware that a untruth had been told to him, already by someone he trusted so much.

Did she have a reason for hiding? This is lying and a tough descision to make at this time as it would ruin things between uncle Travis and herself. He had never seen his uncle in the company big any other woman except her. He didn't particularly spend time with the female folk that much as one would expect a soldier or rather, a former to do.

He hung out at the bar with his peers who happen to also be members of the same age grade as himself. They watched football and discussed the possible outcomes together as they had their drinks.

Other times, he was on his cocoa farm where they spent at least two or three nights especially when Ogar is on holidays.

He watched uncle Travis rise to his feet. By this time, Aunt Sheila was speaking to her son in a corner. Ogar whose audibility was like a whale's could hear her asking him why he had not confirmed from her first before coming over. He tried to explain that he wanted to give her a lovely suprise but had obviously realized that it was a completely terrible idea. He asked his mother to forgive him and looked in Ogar's direction.

Ogar looked away. The youngman whispered something in his mother's ears and Ogar was ignorant of what it was although he suspected it triggered aunt Sheila's reaction.

She stood up as she ventured in the direction of uncle Travis who at this time had risen to his feet.

"Please don't go. Please. You know that I will not do anything with the intention of hurting you?" She persuaded as she walked in the direction of uncle Travis.

He raised his brow in response to what she said but didn't utter a word.

She knew he was leaving. She knew he was furious and maybe he already regrets suggesting this date. She could tell that if he walked away, it might be their last chance together as a couple. She didn't want that to happen. She couldn't afford it. Especially not at this time.

She reached out to grab him by the wrist and she held onto it firmly. At first he stared into space and do all he could to avoid staring back at her.

She had hurt him deeply and she knew it. He wanted to walk out on her and let her pleas fall on deaf ears but he couldn't. He just couldn't.

He could still feel a shiver run down his spine because of her grip.

Is that why she had been careful to re-ignite things with him? Is that why she had been keeping her distance? What might have happened? He knew she definitely had the baby after he left for the army as he was her first love and she was his as well. He knew he still had a hold on her even after her experience in marriage. He knew that she still had a thing for him? Was it safe to say she was being truthful and fair by Keeping this away from him? He wondered.

He stood there and stood still as she wanted him to. Some prying eyes were already beginning to get a hang of what was happening. The last thing he wanted was for his personal issues with Sheila to be the talk of town. She has had too much on her plate already. He was hurting but he would not let his anger get the best of him.

He stared at her as she sobbed. He would normally wipe her tears bit he couldn't. He was weeping inside as well. Silence dosed the air. She had fought the urge to look away in shame. The finally, she turned to uncle Travis.

"I can explain, okay? Please trust me"

"I am trying to" he replied

"Okay give me a minute" she returned as she advanced in the direction of her son. Ogar observed his uncle Travis. Uncle Travis said nothing but Ogar knew that he was weeping deep within.

He said nothing. He felt bad as well. He had never known aunt Sheila to be the type that had dark secrets, especially the ones she kept away from her loved ones who should know about it.

Hello... Hope you are enjoying the ride? What do you think was aunt Sheila's reason for concealing such a secret? Thank you for reading.
