Shawn's jaw tightened from where he stood next to Penelope. It took a moment for Aries' statement to register, and his words seemed to hang in the air like a dense, suffocating fog. Despite their past, despite their differences, the time that the angels and demons had spent together over the past few months had grown and strengthened their relationships to the point that a certain kind of sting came with that fated word, 'goodbye.'
"I suppose you're right," Valerie agreed, fiddling with the end of her messy brown braid. Lizbeth stood near her, and Charles observed the pair with, for the first time, a knowing smile on his face.
Sam approached Leo, who was crouching on the ground for a moment's rest after spending so much of his energy as well as magic and clasped his shoulder. "Thanks, man. For everything you did for us."
