Still Here

Sat on the bottom step of the stairs in the town house I twirl a comb round my fingers. Frankie made me up a steaming hot bath so I could relax and make myself look less wild. The dark circles remain under my eyes. I cannot be bothered to comb my hair into place. Frankie has sat next to me and is winding a bandage round the most severe cut on my left arm. He takes away my comb and rubs a type of cream into my hands where they are indented with nail marks. He talks to me but I am not listening. I could sit on this bottom step until I waste away.

I sigh as he pulls me up. Looks like we are going to the open planned lounge and kitchen. If I must. There is a fire crackling in the grate. Kay and Mi sit at a table which is host to a large pizza on a wooden board. They have been to the Pizza Shack. I sit on a vacant chair not wanting anything to eat. My friends take a slice of pizza. I merely copy them seen as they went to the trouble of buying it. Would be rude to decline.
