Cat's POV

Beck pulled away and I gasped for air. Tori looked so upset, and I felt kind of bad about it before I remembered all of the mean things she said to me. The rest of the class was clapping and whistling, which just made me blush like a tomato. Beck looked completely fine and just smiled at me before sitting back down. I saw Robbie and he looked like he was a little upset too. I don't know why, though. I didn't do anything wrong! "Well done, Beck, Cat. Please have a seat," Sikowitz was grinning like my brother did when he ate noodles with mayonnaise.

I just nodded and sat down next to Jade, blushing. Her lips were pressed into a thin line. "Jadey?" I whispered. "Are you mad at me?"

"Find me after class," she responded. My brows creased. Is she mad at me? Oh no, Jade's mad at me! I did something terrible to my best friend and now she's gonna hate me forever and I don't know what to-

The bell rang and snapped me out of my thoughts. "Alright children, begone!" Sikowitz rushed out of class and I giggled.

I looked over at Jade and she grabbed my wrist and dragged me into the janitor's closet. "What's wrong, Jadey?"

Jade just locked the door and frowned. "I didn't like it when you kissed him," she stated bluntly.

I blinked. "Why?"

She sighed, rubbing the sides of her head. What were those called? Templies? Templers? "You know why, Cat." I just frowned. I do? Jade saw that I was very confused and sighed again, which made me frown. Why is she so mad? "You know how I feel about Beck. Love doesn't just vanish overnight; I want him back and you know it. And then I have to watch you two kiss..." she trailed off.

My cheeks heated up again and my eyes started welling up. I completely forgot about Jade's feelings for him still! "I'm so sorry, Jadey! I'm so, so, so, so, so sorry, and I promise I'll never do anything like that ever again, and you're my bestest friend in the whole wide world and I'll never hurt you again and-"

Jade clamped her hand over my mouth, but she was smiling, and that made me smile. "I know you didn't mean it, Cat. I just needed to get it off my chest. Of course you two are still friends and all, so don't you worry about me splitting you two up over a stupid kiss," she laughed a little bit.

I giggled, wrapping my arms around my best friend. "Do you forgive me?"

She chuckled. "I forgive you."

I smiled and left the janitor's closet, only to run into a tall person with a muscular chest. "Oh, sorry!" I chirped, but started blushing when I saw it was Beck.

"Hey, Kit-Cat. Off in space again?" He chuckled and I just giggled.

"Maybe? What are you doing?" I asked, noticing the papers he was holding.

Beck glanced down at what he was holding. "Oh, this is just some class stuff. You wanna tell me what you and Jade were doing in the janitor's closet? Or is that private?"

"It's a secret!" I blurted. "You can't know!" I quickly rushed away, but his hand caught my arm. I flinched at the contact; Danny would do the same thing.

Beck's eyes widened. "Oh, Cat. I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to-"

"It's okay," I whispered. "You weren't going to hurt me."

Beck nodded. "Uh, actually, can we talk?"

I frowned in thought. Why would he want to talk to me? Maybe he wants to get back to gather with Jade! I hope so; it would make her so happy. "Kay-kay! Let's go," I giggled and grabbed his wrist, dragging him into the janitor's closet. "So, whatcha wanna talk about?"

Beck scratched the back of his neck. "Well, I was wondering if you were free tomorrow? The weather's supposed to be great and I was thinking we could go hit the beach." His boyish grin brought a smile to my face.

"That sounds amazing, Beck! Who else is coming?" I asked, smiling. This was gonna be so much fun!

"It's gonna be me, Andre, Robbie, and Jade," he responded.

I just nodded. Sounded great! "Kay! I can't wait!"

Beck's smile came back, which made me happy. "Cool, I'll pick you up at noon?"

I just nodded, giggling, and opened the door to the closet again, smiling to myself. But it faded quickly when I saw Tori walking by and I gasped. "You didn't hear anything!" I exclaimed, running away from her. I really, really hoped Tori didn't overhear our conversation. I looked behind me to see Tori grinning and I gasped. She did hear, didn't she? I went to open my locker, but it slammed shut after I got the combination. "Wha-"

Tori's smirking face looked back at her. "Well hello, Cat. I just wanted to let you know that I overheard your little conversation with Beck. I can't wait," she smiled, and it reminded me of Ursula from the Little Mermaid. "Also, stay away from Beck. He's mine," Tori growled and walked away to lunch.

I just stood there with my mouth wide open. "Tori?" I whispered. She didn't hear me. My eyes started welling up. I just wanted my friend back. I didn't mean to ruin everything, and now she hates me. I sniffled, ducking my head.

I felt a hand on my cheek and looked up to see Beck wiping the tears off of my face. He smiled a little. "Why don't you come sit with me for lunch?" he whispered. I smiled a little and nodded. It was nice to know that there was still someone who liked her company.

"Kay-kay," I whispered and he guided me over to the grub truck.

"What do you want?" Beck asked.

I was confused. "I don't know, what do I want?"

He chuckled and looked up at Festus. "A tamale and the ravioli, please." Festus handed him the food and Beck gave the ravioli to me.

"Oh, thank you! I love ravioli!" I smiled, plopping down at the nearest lunch table and opening up the little box. "Aren't they so cute? They're like pasta pillows!" I giggled and stabbed one of my pillows with my fork.

Beck just laughed, grabbing his tamale. As I ate my third pillow, Jade sat down next to me. "Hey, little Kitty," she smiled, plucking one of my pillows right out of my box and popping it into her mouth.

I gasped. "You just took one of my pasta pillows!"

Jade nodded, chuckling. "Yup." I pouted, staring sadly at the place where the pillow used to be. Jade just dug through her bag. "Here, have a crayon." She handed me a small pink crayon and my face immediately brightened.

"Yay, crayons!" I giggled, jiggling the crayon between my fingers. Beck just chuckled, shaking his head. Jade looked down at her hands in her lap and I smiled. "I'm gonna go to the bathroom. Back in a boo!" I got up and flounced over to the grub truck, which was right next to our table. I snuck behind it and opened the back door. "Pst, Festus!" I whisper-yelled.

I saw Festus coming around to the back of the truck. "Can I help you?" he asked.

I giggled. "I need to spy on my friends. Can I use your truck?"

Festus just frowned and motioned for me to follow him to the front, where there was an opening so he could take orders. Everyone already got lunch, so there were no people blocking her view. "There you go," he gestured to the opening. "Spy away."

I giggled again. "Thank you!" He just nodded and left to the back of the truck. I could see Beck and Jade very clearly, and I could hear them pretty well too.

"Beck, can we talk?" Jade looked pretty nervous.

Beck frowned. "Sure."

"Listen, I know I broke up with you, but I was thinking things over and... love doesn't just vanish overnight." Beck didn't say anything. Jade continued. "I-I still love you, Beck. I never stopped. I was just upset, and I didn't know what to do." Beck opened his mouth, but Jade pressed on. "I shouldn't have yelled at you. I should have just trusted you, and I'm sorry. Would you-would you take me back?" Jade let out a long breath.

For some reason, I started to feel a bubble of emotion rising in my stomach. It wasn't a good feeling. I don't know what it was. On instinct, I ran to the back of the truck and out the door, racing over to the table and sliding in between Beck and Jade. Mentally, I smacked myself on the forehead. Why did I do that? I just ruined Jade's chance of getting your boyfriend back! I'm such a bad friend. "Hi!" I chirped, putting on my best smile.

Jade looked sort of upset, and she sighed. "Hi, Cat."

Beck frowned. "Did you just come out of the grub truck?"

I shook my head vigorously. "No! I-I came out of-of the-um-the balcony!" I pointed to the large balcony above us that was used for announcements and performances sometimes. "Yeah, there's a bathroom up there. It's really nice," I added. Jade just shook her head.

Beck just smiled a little, nodding. "Okay, well, I'll be seeing you, ladies." He saluted both of us, throwing a glance at Jade that I didn't understand, and walked away.
