Sibling spar

As soon as I say that Arthur rushes towards me, bringing out Dawns Ballad and unsheathing it in one swift motion.

Enhancing it with lightning mana he swings at me with a downward slash.

Predictable.

I send a mid-tier freezing spell his way while he was still midair.

While he couldn't dodge the spell, he could block it.

And he did, placing dawns ballad in the way of the spell he prevented his torso to be frozen.

But now his blade was encased with ice.

Jumping away from him I prepare mana for a spell as I heeded my own advice.

Using the fireball spell, one of the weakest fire spells, and concentrate it into one point, forming a small sphere, one centimeter in diameter.

And I fire at him.

His quick reflexes save him as he brings his teal sword forward just in time to parry the spell, resulting in the ice melting by the sheet heat of the spell.

He stops holding back as his sword ignites with flames and wind encases his hand further amplifying the orange flames.

Oh, going a bit too far aren't you?

He comes at me, but I don't move.

I wait for him patiently as mana fills the veins in both of my arms.

As he gets into striking distance, he performs an uppercut.

Instantly the mana in one of my hands is released.

Creating a completed version of the shield I used against Geist.

As his blade hits the barrier I duck down, the mana in my other hand coalescing into a sphere of thunder.

But even my barrier couldn't stop him completely as his sword breaks through, albeit with the fire now gone, snuffed out by the vacuum between the two layers.

I grin as I see an opening. preparing to release the deadly lightning spell.

But within all this I failed to notice him covering his fist in ice before it impacted with my torso.

My spell still managed to hit his shoulder though.

Managing to regain my balance I glance down at my side and see it covered in a layer of frost.

A simple fire spell fixes that.

Same can't be said for Arthur however, as he nurses his now numb shoulder.

Flashing him a devious smirk I proceed to release arc after arc of fire, lightning, wind and ice respectively.

He slices through the first one with a water infused Dawns Ballad, and sends a blast of earth attribute mana at the second, dispersing it.

Ducking just in time he manages to evade the mass of razor sharp wind.

Raising his arms he sends a gout of flames, melting the ice wave coming for him. White that didn't disrupt the spell, it did melt the ice, resulting in him being drenched with cold water.

I raise an eyebrow at his display.

That's the first time someone countered that.

With a burst of speed he lunges at me, preparing a fire spell in his hand.

I cover my arm in ice to counter his attack, and use Solaris to block a blow from his sword.

Not falling for that again.

Time to test out a new spell.

Extracting mana from my core I fill all my veins with it before releasing it in a wave of fire and frost, blowing Arthur away from me.

Looking at him I notice parts of his uniform covered in patches of ice and the rest, burned.

So it does work.

I just need to increase the output of mana.

"That was a pretty effective spell." Arthur acknowledged it.

"You've not seen half of what I can do Arthur."

"If they are anything like the one before I'm certain they would be powerful."

"We wont know until I try some of them on you will we?" I speak challenging him.

"You can try," He challenged back.

"Very well then." I sprint towards him, sword in hand.

He uses Dawns Ballad to block my hits, but he forgot one crucial detail.

Solaris is not the only sword I have.

Summoning Shroud in my other arm I swing it at his torso.

His eyes widen as he sees that and he begins to jump back.

But he was too late to notice.

The tip of the blade cut through his uniform and lacerated his stomach drawing blood.

"That was a cheap trick," He hissed through the pain.

"Not my fault you forgot about my other sword."

"I'm really beginning to hate you right now." He grumbles.

"You wound me with your cruel words Arthur!" I place an arm over my chest in mock hurt.

"Damn you!" He charges up a lightning spell and shoots it at me.

Pivoting my foot I was barely able to dodge it, meanwhile Arthur prepared a Ice lance and threw it my way.

I can't hope to dodge that.

And he says I use cheap tricks.

I coat my entire arm in fire, burning away my uniform.

A gout of fire escapes from my palm and washes over the blue construct.

I expected it to melt away by the heat, but it seems he put more mana into that lance than normal, as it tore through the curtain of flames and went right past my arm, cutting through its side.

I hiss in pain as blood freely flows down my arm.

"Want me to call the duel off Fayden?" He asks, aggravating me.

"Like hell you will!"

With a flick of my hand a mini tornado surrounds me, obscuring me from anyone outside.

I'd rather not have him disrupt the process.

I enter my first phase as my entire arm catches fire, but this time a greenish black instead of the normal orange/blue.

"[Tartarean Vitality]" I whisper.

Within seconds the long cut vanishes, removing all trace of it ever being there.

Just in time as well, since Arthur broke into the tornado.

Swiftly exiting first phase I prepare for a spell that could be considered overkill for a spar such as this.

But this is Arthur I'm fighting, I can't hold back against him.

A swirling mass of orange fire materializes over my hand, as I add wind magic to further enhance the fire. Arcs of lightning dance around the ball of fire.

Arthur widens his eyes, "Are you seriously going to use that?"

A devilish grin gives him his answer as he begins preparing his own half of the spell.

Its some thing we developed, a spell unique to us.

Where one half is a maelstrom of blazing hot fire, and the other a bone rending army of icicles.

Never thought they would be used against each other.

As soon as the spells are ready we lunge towards each other, my orange sphere with the occasional lightning leaking out and his rotating mass of frigid wind with wicked sharp fragments of ice in it.

The two spells collide and explode in an amalgamation of fire, lightning, wind and ice.

Authors Note

Now that's another evil cliffhanger.

So, how was the spar?

I feel like its a bit underwhelming.

But considering the fact that Goodsky and Gideon are watching them, it makes sense they wouldn't play all their cards.

And Arthur is still injured so...

Also, the poll.

Seems like tri elemental with a Fire/Wind/Earth affinity won.

So yeah I'll be giving him a third affinity.

As for the deviancy, well you guys did say to give him deviancy in earth.

I don't think that will be a good idea, for now.

Imagine what he could do with gravity magic with his absurd mana pool.

If I ever do make him an integrate (I mean integration stage not integrate phase) he'll probably be able to create fucking black holes.

Now that would be very op don't you think?

So maybe I'll give him minor deviancy for now, and have him master it in the course of books 6 and 7.

See you on Friday with the winner of this spar.

Although I'm sure most of you have already guessed who's gonna win.
