Golden pocket watch

Chapter 1

The sky was dark, the moonlight was giving a small visible light to the earth.

On the highway, a car was travelling towards the capital city. Which was visible from a distance, like densely packed light bulbs. Like a wonder of mankind.

There were two people seated on the jet-black Mercedes Benz. The reflection of the moon was visible on the surface of the car. The car is travelling at around 60 kmph. The driver was neither fast nor slow.

A kid was seated on the back, he was holding a golden pocket watch observing it carefully. The surface of the pocket watch had a design that gave it an antique vibe. He was on his way back home after spending time with his grandparents.

"We will reach home soon…"

The kid checked out the driver who just spoke to him. He didn't bother to reply and continued to check out the watch.

The driver who was watching the kid from the rear-view mirror shook his head after seeing the response from the kid. He is used to it.

"Sigh…"

But unknown to them was, a black liquid was leaking under the car. The black liquid kept leaking; the leakage is slowly increasing as time went by.

The driver turned the car as he approached a small curve. While the car turned the wheel stepped on the leaked oil. Suddenly the car went out of control. The driver panicked and couldn't bring it under control.

When the car was about to be crashed on the sides of the highway, the kid clicked the button on the pocket watch.

'click…'

Daniel felt he was surrounded by darkness; he didn't know how much time he spent here in the darkness. After an unknown time suddenly, he heard a clicking sound, after which a followed a light source in the distant space.

Slowly he tried to catch the light.

But the intensity of the light increased and slowly enveloped him, the light didn't burn him but he felt warmth from it.

When Daniel opened his eyes, he saw he was seating inside a car. That's when he noticed that the car was going to smash itself soon. He started panicking inside, he clearly knew he is in a messed-up situation but he didn't know what to do.

It felt like the time was slowing down for him.

People told that when humans are facing their last moments in life, time will slow down for them. For Daniel, it felt like it was that moment. But even at that moment he felt that something was missing, it's like a gut feeling but he can't put his finger on it.

It was then it hit him that he was inside a kid's body.

"WTF! Why am I inside a kid's body." Just when he found out that he was inside a kid's body the car crashed.

Daniel slowly lost his consciousness. Even while he was losing consciousness he can't help and kept asking these questions in his head.

How he got here?

Where was he?

and on top of it all, why is he inside a kid's body?

After few minutes a car passed by, when they saw a car has crashed, they stopped and two guys approached it.

"Hey! There is a kid inside check it out fast. How is the kid's condition?"

"I am not sure I guess he is unconscious; wait he is bleeding from his head and there is another person unconscious in the driver's seat."

Both guys panicked and soon shifted them to their car and soon took off. It will take around 15 to 20 mins to reach the hospital. They did not hesitate and drove the car as fast as possible.

They soon reached the hospital and admitted both the kid and the driver to the emergency department.

By the time the doctor was diagnosing both, the nurse got the information of the patient from the driver's wallet and called their family members.

In around 30 minutes a car stopped at the entrance of the hospital, a man and a woman step out of the car and soon found their way towards the emergency ward.

"There is no need to panic, both of them are safe. They are unconscious due to shock from the accident. The kid was bleeding from the head but it was a small scar, there is no problem. Well…the man has a fractured right arm. Other than that, there is nothing to worry about. They are both safe and sound because they had their seat belts on." The doctor reassured both the mand and the women.

But the women, feeling uneasy and decided to transfer them to a top hospital.

Daniel felt like he was in a dream, the episode he just experienced was like a dream but the thing is that it's goddam vivid.

Dammam even the pain he experienced felt real.

Well…he didn't bother to think too much because he thought it was a dream and put it behind his head.

Right now, Daniel felt like he was floating in the clouds. Suddenly a light flashed and woke up like he was in a dream.

When he slowly opens his eyes. He thought the previous episode he encountered was just a dream-like he expected but soon after this thought crossed his mind his hopes got crushed brutally after hearing the faint voice around.

"Ma'am I am extremely sorry it was my carelessness, if I had been more careful this would have never happened…" The driver was bowing his head 90 degrees to a woman and a man, even though had a plaster on his right hand he wasn't bothered.

Both the women and man are the same people who went to the previous hospital.

"It wasn't your mistake, the police told us that the accident was due to oil leakage..." The women spoke before he could finish his sentence.

"Honey, thank god nothing serious happened because of the seat belts. Leave it."

When the women heard what the man who was beside her told, a deep frown appeared on her face showing her displeasure at what he told.

"What! You want to leave this matter behind. It's clearly the mistake of the service centre. You just now heard what the police officer said that the cause was due to a loose bolt inside the car. It hasn't been a day after the service was done and the police are 100% sure that it's their mistake. I will sue them for this!"

"Just see our kid, it's been 5 to 6 hours since he is unconscious."

The women's voice trembled as she spoke the last sentence. Even though she was angry, she didn't increase her voice. She looked at her child who was on the bed. Tears formed at the edge of her eyes.

When the man saw this, he felt guilty. He patted his wife's shoulder to comfort her.

But soon she noticed her child waking up, so she rushed over.

"Baby baby are you all right. Don't worry mother is her."

The women held her child and teared up.

Daniel saw a woman calling him. Her face was fuzzy to him but soon it became clear.

When he saw her face, at all the tears pouring down her beautiful face. A heavy memory and emotion's gushed into my mind.

When he got this memory there just a single word appeared in this head.

"Mother."

One word million emotion.

But soon after receiving this heavy memory and complex emotions, an unbearable pain hit him. He held his head and screaming in pain.

When the people heard him screaming, they panicked, the driver went to call the doctor.

But soon the Daniel fainted.
