Knight and the Necromancer

William wore a carefree smile as he muttered, "It's showtime!"

William kicked off the ground and launched himself into the undead horde, joining his knights. He slashed, punched, kicked every undead that he could see. He was having a frenzy as he indiscriminately slashed projections of Aura that reached at least 20 meters, destroying every undead it touched.

The necromancer was seething in rage. The sole reason why he attacked Leghorn City was to lure out William. Leghorn City was the city closest to the Montampes Manor. His goal? Revenge.

One would think that he could've just attacked the manor directly, saving him the trouble of luring out William. However, attacking the manor would surely spell his own demise, and the necromancer knew that. There was someone there, a monstrous being that he could never hope to escape from if he ever provoked them.

The necromancer glared at William, who was still rampaging and not even showing signs of exhaustion. William felt the necromancer's glare, and so he waved at him with a bright smile.

"Hey, Bevok! It's nice seeing you! What happened to your face? Did you eat something strange?" William's words just enraged Bevok even further.

The first time they fought was a disaster for Bevok. Years of research materials were all lost to a monkey-brained knight. His laboratory was located in a perfectly secure and hidden place, but because of some random coincidences, William happened to discover Bevok's laboratory.

Seeing the atrocities of Bevok's experiments, William destroyed everything with not a moment's thought. Bevok managed to run away, as William was still a novice of the Chromatic Stage.

That encounter twisted their thread of fates together, as they fought each other many times in the future, with William winning every single one while Bevok always managing to escape.

When Bevok heard the news of William reaching the 3rd Stage, he knew that he wouldn't be able to run away the next time they meet. He had to get more power. More power than the prodigious William.

Bevok started searching for ways to gain strength. At first, he relied on his research, hoping that a breakthrough would help him with what he needed. However, ever since his first laboratory was destroyed by William, Bevok hasn't been able to progress in his research. In fact, his progress was going in reverse, as every time William finds his hiding hole, Bevok loses most of his experiments and notes, being able to only salvage a few of the important ones whenever he escapes.

Bevok soon hit a dead end. He couldn't find a way to increase his power enough to the point where he wouldn't have to fear William. He even decided to abandon his humanity and become a lich, a high-ranking undead. Well, it's not like he had any humanity in the first place.

Bevok was lost. He didn't know what else to do. William would soon find him just as he's always done, and this time, he wouldn't be able to escape.

Just as he was about to resign to his fate, a suspicious group approached him. They were all clad in black, so he couldn't see their faces, and their voices were masked by something strange that the words were unintelligible, and yet he could clearly understand what they were conveying.

They offered him a deal, however, he didn't remember the details. All Bevok knew was that they gave him something and that he accepted it. An orb that will give him the power necessary to kill William.

Bevok didn't care that he couldn't remember what the deal was. Whether he was dancing in the palm of someone's hand, he didn't care. All that mattered to him was that the orb he received will definitely rid him of William.

With newfound confidence, he decided to get the initiative and attack first. That brings us to now.

Bevok took out the orb. It was purple, the color of corrupt mana, the mana that's used by mages who practice taboo magic like necromancy. It was the size of a palm as well, making it easy to carry around.

He poured his mana into the orb. Soon after, several runes and inscriptions lit up on the surface of the orb. It was going to take some time before the orb is fully activated, so to buy time he sent several Death Knights—a 6-star monster—to William, who's just been playing around with the lower-ranked undead, quickly lowering their numbers. For good measure, Bevok also deployed a Reanimated Wyvern. Wyverns are usually between 6 and 7 stars, however, because this particular wyvern has been turned into an undead, making it unable to feel pain, its ranking is at 7 stars. Maybe even 8 if it was an alpha wyvern, but since it's just a normal wyvern it is ranked at 7.

William saw this and smiled. His figure blurred, then reappeared behind a Death Knight. With one downward swing, he sliced the Death Knight in half. A Death Knight is typically 3 meters tall, so William used his Aura to extend the reach of his attack in order to slice the Death Knight in one swing.

Death Knights are quite fast despite their size. Just as William slashed the first Death Knight in half, he was already surrounded by 3 Death Knights. All 3 attacked at the same time.

William parried 2 Death Knights while he dodged the 3rd one's attack as he escaped their encirclement. He dashed towards a Death Knight that was charging towards him as he destroyed more various undead that swarmed him.

As he was about to reach the Death Knight, he stopped and took out a shield that was strapped to his back. The shield was instantly imbued and covered in William's mint green Aura.

A second later, William was engulfed in green flames.
