I got out. Vicha delivered on her promise and smuggled me out of the city through an inconspicuous-looking wagon carrying supplies to the next city. The man driving the wagon was a loyal servant of House Slanid and seemed to be a humble man without any greed, so I trusted him as I hid inside an empty crate right next to the ones filled with supplies.
It didn't take long for the wagon to drive through the gates. It's fortunate that X-ray baggage scanners don't exist in this world. The guards didn't even bother to check the contents of the crates, which made my safe escape easy enough.
When the distance from the city was enough, the driver stopped the horses from pulling the wagon and let me out.
"Thank you, Sir."
"No problem. Good luck out there."
