The End From The Beginning

The windy night in District H brought with it a chilliness that made its inhabitants want to remain indoors. It was exceptionally cold that night.

In the heart of District H of City Z, Country M stood the powerful skycraper penthouse of Miles Incorporated.

Belonging to one of the three powerful families ruling District H and the whole of Country M.

Standing at the edge of the terrace of the rooftop, was a young lady who looked not more than 20 years old. Her fair skin and attractive features could have made anyone easily jealous if she didn't act so crazily.

Right at this moment, the lady was standing at the edge of the terrace, threatening to throw herself down whilst her two maids stood down urging her to get down.

''Please ma'am, come down from there. It's dangerous.'' One of the maids, wearing a red cardigan on top of her uniform said as she looked at her mistress helplessly.

''What do we do? She isn't listening to us at all.'' The other one, in a plain brown outfit said and they suddenly saw the lady smirking down at them.

A smirk they knew all too well. Her brows raised questionably at them.

''Look, she is smirking!''

''That's it. That smirk is the devil's smirk. She only smieks like that when she wants to do something bad.'' Miss red cardigan said anxiously.

''She won't fall from here, right?'' Miss brown outfit looked at her colleague.

''Hurry, call butler James. Tell him what the young madam is about to do.'' Miss red cardigan urged the other, whom was holding a phone. She immediately dialed the butler's number to inform him.

...

Miles Incorporated.

Hurried steps could be heard from the hallway before it stopped right at the door and it opened.

Butler James walked into the office with the phone and the man sitting behind the desk looked up and asked.

''What is it?''

Butler James fidgeted with his phone before answering, ''young master, is the young miss.''

A deep sigh escaped from the man's lips before he asked again, ''what is it this time?''

''This time is serious. She is at the top of the penthouse threatening to jump down if you don't allow her to leave the house….''

''Let her die then?'' The man replied indifferently as he continued with his work. This wasn't even the first time she was threatening to throw herself down. He thought it was her usual tantrum which she threw every day. When she got tired, she would definitely return inside. Right?

Just then the phone in Butler James' hand rang again and he looked at the man with a worried gaze.

Jasper closed the document on the table and looked up, ''this is not the first time she has threatened to kill herself. Just leave her alone and she will go back after some time.''

''But, young master. The maids are all worried. Just now, Abena said she made that devilish smilrk she makes whenever she is about to do something bad.''

''Leave her alone!'' Jasper yelled and looked up with a cold glare.

The phone in the butler's hand rang again. ''Answer it!'' Jasper ordered.

''Yes, sir!'' Butler James answered the call. ''Hello, Abena...''

Butler James's phone fell from his hands and Jasper looked at him.

''What is it?''

''Young master, she really jumped this time.''

The world suddenly seemed quiet. Jasper's hands quivered and he stood up at once saying. ''Tell the doctors to save her at all cost!''

...

CITY HOSPITAL.

SURGERY ROOM.

''What is the situation?'' Butler James walked to the anxious looking maids standing in front of the operation room door. Jasper who was behind stood rigid and his gaze turned cold as he watched at the operation room sternly.

''Sir, she is still in the surgery room. The doctors said they will try their best, but that we should prepare for the worse.'' Abena, the red cardigan maid hid behind Butler James as she spoke.

Jasper loosened his tie and took off his black.

''Jasper, I came as soon as I heard the news. What is the situation?'' Two ladies walked to them.

The one who asked, Clara was the lady's cousin and the other one her long-time friend.

''She is still in there!'' Jasper sat down as he answered.

''Mr. Miles, how can you remain this calm when we don't even know the situation?'' The lady at the side asked.

''Please, Samantha, not now. Can't you see he is barely holding it in?'' Clara frowned at Samantha.

''Pray nothing happens to my friend. I won't forgive you.'' She said and lowered her head. She flashed a subtle smile and her eyes seemed to hold a lot of suspense.

It was, more of anticipation for what was to come next. She looked at the man who sat quietly not fazed by whatever she was saying.

Clara turned to the butler and asked, ''Butler James, tell me, what exactly happened?''

''The young miss attempted suicide….'' Before Butler James could finish Samantha exclaimed.

''What? Why would she do that? We were with her this afternoon and she was so happy...''

''She wanted to leave the house and go meet Noah.'' Butler James was careful with his words as he turned to look at Jasper whose face had darkened at the mention of Noah.

Samantha took in the subtle changes in Jasper and spoke. ''Watch what you say, how sure are you that she wanted to meet with Noah? Don't let Mr. Miles misunderstand Inayah.''

''Where is Noah?'' Clara asked.

''We don't know, Miss.'' Abena, shook her head and the surgery room opened and the doctors walked out.

Jasper stood up and walked to them.

''How is she, Nick?''

''How is my cousin?''

Jasper and Clara asked almost at the same time.

Dr. Nick shook his head. ''Her head was hurt severely because of the fall. She lost a lot of blood. We did our best, but there was only little we could do. She fell from a 50 storey building of course...''

Samantha pushed Clara aside and stood in front of the doctor and asked, ''what do you mean you did your best? If you did your best, then why is she dead?''

Jasper ignored them and went into the surgery room. He walked slowly to the body of Inayah and looked at her, showing no emotions as he removed the cloth covering her face. He touched her face.

''Are you happy; that you're finally out of my hands? I promised to protect you as long as you stayed by my side. How could you do this to me Nayah? I loved you more than my own life...''

Watching the people cry in front of her body, the lady's face had a complicated expression. She walked out of the room after looking at her own body for a while.

Inayah walked out and saw the butler and the maids crying. She stood by Clara and Samantha and looked at them as they also cried.

Samantha's phone buzzed and she got up and walked towards the stairs of the hospital and Inayah followed her.

Samantha looked at the door before going out to the stairs. She looked down, making sure no one was around before she spoke to the person on the other side of the phone. ''Is done. She is finally dead. I can't believe she actually acted on everything I told her to. What a fool. Thank you for your help all this while, housekeeper. It's all thanks to you for always feeding her with that medicine!''

Inayah gasped as she listened to Samantha. This was the same lady she called her best friend. The person she trusted so much but now. Hearing everything she said on the phone made her realise she was wrong about her.

About everything she made her believe. She knew the exact medicine she was talking about. She said they were meant to calm her down and make her anxiety go away and she trusted her because her parents were doctors.

Inayah sighed and her eyes turned watery. But this wasn't the last of what she would hear. She still heard more as Samantha continued her conversation over the phone.

''Now, I just have to play the part of a sympathetic best friend and warm my way into Jasper's heart and bed. I will always remember all the help you gave me in eliminating my useless friend. I will speak to you later, okay? Right now, I have a lot of crying to do. Bye!''

Samantha hung up and turned facing Inayah whom she couldn't see. ''Tsk!!! She was just someone her own parents didn't want, yet she managed to capture the heart of the richest man in the whole of City Z. To think, I almost lost to her.''

Inayah's face became pale as everything became clear to her. So, this was it? The reason why Samantha hated her to the extent of wanting her dead was all because she was in love with Jasper Miles.

The man who loved her to the point of madness. The man who provided, protected and spoilt her to the extreme yet she hated this man. Inayah hated herself now.

''Samantha, I trusted you!'' Inayah screamed as she lodged towards her but she couldn't do anything to her physically.

''That's why you shouldn't trust anyone blindly, young lady. This world is full of people who won't hesitate to hurt others just to get what they want.'' A middle age woman spoke from the side.
