"Dear God. Thank you for granting my prayer so quickly. I didn't expect it at all. I know You are Most Generous, but I never thought that You would answer my prayer in such a short time."
Khalid was stunned and then waved his hand asking the middle-aged woman to come closer. the woman nodded then answered Khalid's call. She lowered her head, hiding the tears that had been running down her cheeks.
"May I know what prayers you said and were answered so quickly? I have always felt like I failed in my prayers."
The middle-aged mother looked at Khalid then nodded. she remembered a few minutes ago her husband was angry because his lunch was eaten by his son. Her husband had just come home from work and had brought three packets of chicken soup which he was going to eat with two co-workers which he happened to bring home. Her husband put the chicken soup on the dining table and asked her to arrange it on the dining table so that the two friends he asked home could eat after the noon prayer.
The middle-aged mother obeyed her husband's orders. She immediately stepped into the kitchen to get a plate, but when she left, two of her children who brought a school friend took his father's chicken soup and invited his friends to eat together in the room. When her husband found out, he was angry and asked her to change without knowing that she had no money at all.
"I was just praying for three packets of chicken soups to change my husband's friend, sir."
The woman recounted all the events that had happened to her coherently without slipping the slightest bit. Khalid looked at the woman in front of him with a frown. He lowered his head, hiding his sadness to hear the fate of the woman in front of him. He immediately took his wallet in his pocket and pulled out several hundreds of thousands and tens of thousands of notes, change in soup, and handed it to the woman.
"Take this to meet your family's needs. Hopefully, it can help lighten your load"
The middle-aged woman in front of Khalid immediately dropped her body, prostrated on the ground while thanking Khalid many times.
"Thank you, sir. Thank you. May Allah repay your kindness by winning the contest that will be conducted by the Sultan."
Khalid frowned, trying to understand the words of the woman who was now standing on her knees with her hands raised.
"Tell me what you mean! Competition? What contest?"
"Sir, haven't you heard that the Sultan holds a contest aimed at selecting the mate for the Princess of the Orange Rose?"
"Princess of the Orange Rose? Does that princess always wear a colored face covering and always help the weak?"
The woman in front of Khalid was stunned. She had heard that the king's daughter always wore people's colored face coverings to hide her identity and face so that no one would recognize her, but she had never seen how the sultan's daughter was all this time.
"It's like what people say, sir. But I've never seen the princess in person."
Khalid stared at the face of the middle-aged woman in front of him. There was so much he wanted to know from her, but he had to give up because the woman's husband caught up with him and looked at Khalid and his wife in turn with a very unfriendly expression.
"So this is how you behave behind my back?"
The middle-aged woman in front of Khalid immediately turned around and approached her husband. Before she reached the man who was wearing his hips, a slap landed on her face. her annoyed husband simply did not tolerate the behavior of his wife being alone with Khalid. his face showed extraordinary emotion.
"I'm just explaining that the Sultan is holding a contest, my husband. Who knows, he who is kind will win the contest and succeed in becoming the princess's husband."
"I have nothing to do with this man. Now return everything you received from him! I do not want to accept anything from a man like him."
The woman looked at Khalid who was just watching the husband and wife bickering silently. She holds out the plastic and money to Khalid without saying anything. Khalid, who saw the face of a middle-aged woman who was being abused by her husband, felt pity. He immediately stood up and approached the man who had just slapped his wife, then grabbed the collar of the man in front of him with a very cold expression.
"I, Khalid Kusuma Wardhana don't like to see men molesting their wives at all. You should be ashamed to see how your woman struggles to get what you want without thinking about her feelings. If you are still being rude like that, I will not hesitate to destroy you. Break your hands and feet and will take your wife so that she doesn't live at your parents' house."
The man in front of Khalid gaped. He didn't know at all that the man who had been alone with his wife was the boss in his office. All this time he had always heard the name of Khalid Kusuma Wardhana, the CEO of the company he worked for, but he had never seen what his boss looked like.
The man in Khalid's grip trembled. He cupped his hands and begged forgiveness for what he did to his wife.
"Please, sir. I will not repeat what I did to my wife again"
"Not only to your wife but also to your children. Have you always treated them rudely like before?"
The man in front of Khalid was silent. He was afraid that if he confessed his actions, Khalid would retaliate for his treatment and fire him from the company. All this time he had considered the woman he had married as a maid in his house. He treated his family badly but he was always kind to everyone.
Khalid threw the man who was holding him until he fell in front of Khalid. his wife screamed hysterically at the fate of her poor husband by Khalid's very strong encouragement. The man in front of Khalid who had heard how his master was always rude to anyone could only put his hands together and apologized for the mistakes he had made.
"I-I'm sorry, sir. I promise I won't repeat all these mistakes"
"It's not me you should apologize to. Apologize to your wife and promise her that you won't repeat your bad deeds"
The man was silent, looked at his wife then looked at Khalid for a moment. Slowly he approached his wife and held out her hands.
"I'm sorry, Mel. Your husband is always rude to you. I promise not to repeat what I did to you. I promise to be a good husband to you."
"Huh, not only be a good husband. I want you to be a good father to your children too. Don't be rude to them and love them because they will cry for you when you die. Not friends that you have always been proud of."
The middle-aged woman in front of Khalid expressed all her annoyance at her husband. She thanked Khalid for being a hero who saved her from her husband's arbitrariness.
