Chapter 28: Lich Love Story Season 2 (2)_2

...

The fire in the fireplace crackled, illuminating the slightly pale face of the one-eyed man.

"How much do you really know?"

"You guess."

"It's that same line again, I don't want to guess!"

"I might have told you as much as you know, or maybe, it's everything."

"Everything?" The one-eyed man gritted his teeth, revealing a ferocious face, and roared, "I don't care. The order I received was to make you write a letter and then kill you! I just need to complete my mission!"

"Is that so? Even if it means having the entire Field family buried with me?"

"Buried with you?" The one-eyed man was obviously scared.

Count Gruglu smiled and said, "It seems you really didn't understand a bit of what I just said. How about this, send a message to Edward III now and see what he thinks? After all, he's just in the city.""

After hesitating for a long time, the one-eyed man reluctantly pulled one of the soldiers aside and whispered a few words. The soldier quickly left.

...

A fast horse arrived in front of Yilin's castle.

"There's an urgent letter for Earl Field!" The "messenger" held the letter high in his hand.

Apparently, Yilin and Edward III needed to be informed because it took a full half-hour before the gate opened.

The "messenger" dismounted quickly and, under the guard's guidance, walked swiftly through the garden, entered the mansion, and reached the living room.

Yilin was sitting in the living room talking to Edward III while Abi Robbs stood quietly to the side.

"Excuse me for a moment." Edward III politely nodded to Yilin before getting up and walking over to take the letter, which he opened casually.

Inside was a blank piece of paper.

Edward III kept smiling but his eyes widened.

Yilin watched from afar.

...

In the Gruglu family mansion, the one-eyed man stood by the window, carefully observing the outside through a slit in the curtain. The other soldiers did the same, except for one sitting not far off.

Shelley struggled to squeeze to Count Gruglu's side.

Count Gruglu swallowed hard and whispered, "Actually, I was just guessing. I didn't think I'd guess everything right. It couldn't be worse... Now we can only hope Yilin has her father's prudence. With Edward III in the castle, and they having to deliver a message to him, they have to open the city gates. If it were the old duke, he would certainly verify no one entered the White Castle at night. He would surely notice that the letter to Edward III was delivered by someone from within the city. That would arouse suspicion. Then we will be saved."

"But... the hope is slim. This little girl hasn't even been a duchess for a day. How can she compare to the old duke with decades of experience? If anything happens, don't worry about me, just escape if you can. Do you understand?"

Shelley looked tearfully at her grandfather.

...

Edward III whispered, "Do you all understand?"

"Understood," the messenger replied softly.

"Go then."

"Yes!"

The messenger saluted and turned to leave.

"What happened?" Yilin asked softly.

"Nothing," Edward III smiled as he turned around, "Just some trivial matters of the fief. You know."

As he spoke, he casually crumpled the letter and threw it into the fireplace.

"Oh, matters of the fief." Yilin nodded silently, thought for a moment, and then called Abi Robbs to her side and whispered a few words.

The fire slowly turned the letter to ash.

Yilin smiled.

...

The one-eyed man raised his hand and gave Count Gruglu a heavy slap, knocking him directly to the ground.

Shelley struggled, sobbing "mmm mmm mmm," tears streaming down her face, but she was powerless.

"So you dared to deceive me! Good thing Earl Field is in the city, otherwise you would have scared me! Untie him! Give him a pen!"

Several soldiers quickly dragged Count Gruglu from the ground and pressed him against a coffee table. A piece of paper was slapped in front of him, along with a quill.

"Do you think... I will write?" Count Gruglu looked up at the one-eyed man with wide eyes, his hair disheveled and blood at the corner of his mouth, yet still keeping his usual grace and smiling.

"You have no choice." The one-eyed man brandished a dagger in front of Count Gruglu, then stabbed it into his left hand!

Blood spread across the table, and Count Gruglu gritted his teeth, the veins on his forehead bulging, his whole body trembling slightly. Yet he didn't make a sound.

"Let's see how long you can hold out!" The one-eyed man slowly twisted the dagger in Count Gruglu's hand.

*"I can... hold out for a long time."* Sweat poured down his face, his eye corners twitching rapidly, but Count Gruglu still smiled, "*Killing me will do you no good unless... unless you promise me one thing.*"

...

Abi Robbs hurried back to the living room and whispered something in Yilin's ear.

In an instant, Yilin's expression changed completely, and she quickly widened her eyes and looked over at Edward III.

"You!"

Edward III sighed nonchalantly, saying slowly, "Don't bother, it's too late."

"Gather the troops! Now!" In the next moment, Yilin hiked up her skirt and rushed out the door.

...

"What do you want?" the one-eyed man asked, holding the dagger.

"Let Shelley go," Count Gruglu gritted his teeth.

"Let her go?" The one-eyed man sneered and looked over at Shelley.

"Let her go, and I'll write the letter. But I'll only write it after I'm sure she's safe."

"Is that so? Thank you for reminding me."

Count Gruglu and Shelley were both stunned.

The one-eyed man took a few steps, laughing as he said, "I didn't understand much of what you said earlier, but I understood this. I shouldn't start with you, I should start with your granddaughter."

With that, he grabbed Shelley's hair and lifted her up.

"If you hurt her! Even if I die, I won't write a single word!" Count Gruglu roared.

However, the one-eyed man laughed even harder, "My dear Count, to be honest, when it comes to scheming, I'm no match for you. But when it comes to coercion and torture, you can't match me. Do you think I'll kill her? No, you're wrong. I'll torture her and make you watch."

With that, he removed the cloth gagging Shelley.

Shelley, who was already terrified, looked tearily at her grandfather.

"Torture without screams is not torture." With that, the one-eyed man pushed Shelley towards two soldiers. "She's all yours."

"Ha ha ha ha!"

"Ah—! Gray! Save me! Gray!"

At that moment, a familiar incantation rang out, "All sins shall be accounted for, all souls shall be transcended. Sunlight shines on every corner, not tolerating a shred of shadow! Today, I shall judge you in the name of the Holy Spirit!"

"Hiss—!"

...

"Does it count as violating the prohibition for the Lich to invoke the name of the Holy Spirit?" the female Angel asked the male Angel.

"There's no such prohibition," the male Angel replied helplessly, scratching his face.

...

"Gray? Is it you? Gray?" Shelley looked around in a daze.

"Who! Come out now!"

The one-eyed man and his soldiers frantically looked around.

Count Gruglu was stunned.

With a loud "bang," the door was kicked in from outside, flying in with wisps of white smoke, and directly knocked down two soldiers.

The bright moonlight shone in from outside, casting the shadow of a giant in the hall.

A knight on a steed appeared before everyone, with a silver moon behind him.

"The Silver Moon Knight Gray is here! Remember my name because you are about to die by my sword!"

"Hiss—!"

At that moment, Shelley's tears flowed like rain.
