Chapter 9: Can I Clear the Fog?

"Hello? Its me Rhylie again. I brought my father this time." Then the tiger spoke. "Ah I see you came by after all. That's good. Hello old friend." "I see you consider me an old friend again." said Rhylie's father Calder. "I didn't think you would consider me one after that incident." "My brother was a fool. I forgave you a long time ago. After a few days I realized, it wasn't worth it to break up a friendship after an idiot like my brother did what he did." "Thank you." "Ok now we are here because of Rhylie." "Yes sir. Can I see your faces before we talk though?" I was curious. "Yeah I guess its fair. Hey ice. Are you coming out as well?" "Yes I guess I will Smokey. No use in hiding now." The two walked out only ice wasn't a tiger. Ice looked like a normal human except he had some horns and wings. "Hello. Nice to meet you in person." I said. "If you don't mind me asking Ice. What exactly are you?" "Oh I figured you would ask. I'm half blue phoenix and half demon." "That explains the horns." I said. "Anyways lets get down to our talk. I'm sure Calder and Rhylie have other things to do." Said Smokey. "I'm sure your father doesn't know what we talked about right?" "No he doesn't. Its ok he can know." "OK then. We were going to talk about her power." Said Smokey. "I figured as much." Said Calder. "So are you both going to tell me about it? Do you know anything about it Ice?" " I know some. I remember something similar back when I was little myself." "So am I the only one who doesn't know what my power is about?" I said. "Just breathe Rhylie. Everything is going to be ok." Said Calder. I took a deep breath and calmed down a little. "Ok now. Before you tell me about my power I have something to say. I have been feeling strange since father used a charm on me to heal me faster. I think that the spell that Prince put on me to keep me from singing is gone. I don't know why. I have a feeling that something about my singing voice is important to this fog here. That is all I wanted to say now about my power." "I see so you know that much already. Smart girl." Said smokey. Then Calder said, "Is the king still there? Your uncle?" "Yes last time I was here he was. Why?" "He knows the name of the song you need to sing to cure the fog." "Why didn't he tell me before? Was he waiting for me to find out myself what I needed to do?" "He was told not to tell you till the time was right. It was a promise to your mother. After we are done here we need to go see him." Said Calder. "Yes father." "OK now lets get to talking about the fog and your power." Said Calder.

"Ice tell them what you experienced as a child." Said Smokey. "I think I was about 7 or 8 years old at the time. I was hanging out with my brother at the time. I can't remember what we were playing but then he disappeared on me. I went to go look for him then I saw a strange fog. I started to get scared so I called my brothers name. He was younger than me. Once he finally showed up he gave me a huge hug because he was so scared. We have no clue exactly who it was to this day to casted it. It was about two years after that, the fog disappeared. That is all I know." "How is your younger brother now?" "I don't know. Since I left the village I haven't seen him. It has been a few years." "Maybe once I clear this fog you can go back to your village." "I had planned on it." "OK then I will work my hardest to clear this fog. I promise." "Don't work yourself too hard to hurt yourself." "Hehe I'll try not too. So Smokey about my power?" "Yes I was there when You were born. So I know the day that your power went out of control and your mother sealed it." "If you know, do you know what it was I was scatred of? Was it just me afraid because of my powers first developing?" "You were pretty much afraid of everything new back then. Do you know your mother had the same fog as well as you?" "Yes I did. I am assuming that is why she sealed them because she knows how dangerous it could be." "Yes she did. As for what the fog does, Calder do you want to tell her or should I?" "You can tell her. I can tell her why after." "Ok then. Rhylie. I am sure you found out last time you were here. As you were heading to the castle everyone was in there houses right?" "Yes they were. I was wondering why." "Well that fog that you created made people depressed. It doesn't affect babies but it does effect kids age 5 and up to adults." "So that is why people weren't outside. Is that why you both are hiding in the cave?" "Yeah pretty much."

I started to have a strange feeling again. "Father. Smokey and Ice. Thank you but I have to go. Something is wrong with me. I can't take care of it here." "Calder go ahead and take her. Feel better Rhylie." Said Ice. "Yeah thanks." Then father took me out of the forest and head toward the castle. "Are you ok Rhylie?" "Y-yeah. I think so. Lets hurry to uncle."

We finally made it to the door and my uncle was waiting for us. "Hello Rhylie. Its about time you came here." "So you were expecting us I take it?" Said Calder. "Ah Calder. I haven't seen you in a year. How did Rhylie take it after finding out you were alive?" "Not well if you must know. She almost died. As you can see she is fine now. Or at least was then. Now something is wrong." "Oh is there? Bring her here." They got to her uncle and she said "Uncle. Please help me." "I will do what I can after I look at you." I was looking down at the time and then he said "Look up Rhylie." I looked up and I saw my uncle looking shocked. I also saw a woman next to him. "What's wrong uncle? Am I going to be ok?" "Yes you will. Sister you know where to take her." "Yes brother. Calder I can help her." "What's going on?" "Look at her eyes." He looked at her eyes and they were green. "What does it mean?" said Calder. "I never saw my wife have these colored eyes when she had her power." "She will be fine. My sister can calm her down."

Meanwhile. "Ok Rhylie how are you feeling right now?" "I'm feeling strange. Like I am being possessed. My head also hurts." "OK I want you to lay down and close your eyes ok? I am sure you figured out by now I am your auntie." "Yes when uncle called you sister I knew. You look like mother a lot." "I was her twin sister." "That explains it." I closed my eyes and listened to her. "Ok I won't suppress you too much. You are getting ready to clear this fog right?" "That was my plan." "Ok then. I will put my hand on your head and you will calm down a bit ok?" "Yes." Auntie put her hand on my head and I started relaxing. "There you should be ok now. You might have one green eye but that is ok. It will come back when you clear the fog as well. We want to preserve your energy." I got up and said. "Actually we came here to get the name of the song from uncle. I was going to do it now since I had some business a while ago." "I see. Well I am glad I calmed you down then. Your uncle wanted to talk to you about that before you did. Go on now." We both walked back to the throne room.

"Hello brother." "Ah very good. Sister. Rhylie your father told me you wanted to clear the fog now?" "Yes uncle." "You are 16 now is that right?" "Yes uncle I am. Is that a problem?" "No not at all. I want to make a deal with you Rhylie." "Depends on the deal." I said. "Ah you were raised to be cautious. Very good. Its nothing bad so don't worry. I will let you try to clear this fog on one condition. If you can't clear all this fog and you get sick I want you to continue training with Prince until you can ok? Also you can use the same song in training. Depending on how much fog you can make disappear, have him start with that. I'm sure your father can figure out the amount." "Yes I can. That is a good deal I think." Said father. "Uncle? Is there a place I should start?" "I would say here but there are worse places in the village. It may seem like I don't care about them but I do. Since you left I haven't killed without reason." "Thank you uncle. I will agree to your condition. Now where in the village should I start?" "I would say start at the entrance to the village. I know you will eventually get to it all lets see how much you can do." "Thank you uncle. Now do you have the song I need?" "Sister give her the paper." "Yes brother." My auntie gave me a rolled up piece of paper and I looked at it. I was shocked because it was a song my mother sang to me. Then I rolled it up so father couldn't see. "I know this song by heart. Thank you so much. Lets go father." I covered my face with a mask so the fog wouldn't get to me. Father did the same.

"OK father. You might recognize this song. I remember it when I was still living here. Keep your scarf up." My other eye turned green. I opened the paper back up to see how it started then I took a deep breath and started singing.

(I do not own the song: It was the song of healing from lost song. Its on youtube. Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xcn0Telrz6w)

When I was in the middle of the song my nose started bleeding. I had already done half the village. Then I was so focused I couldn't hear my father saying stop. Then I felt someone touch me. Then she fainted. Her father caught her before she hit the ground. "Good job Rhylie. Rest now." He cleaned her blood off her nose then took her somewhere where she can be healed.

Calder went back to the castle cradling Rhylie. "Brother in law. It is as you said. She couldn't do it all. She sang the song but in the middle of it she pushed herself too hard and ending up having a nosebleed. I had to stop her. She passed out after she stopped. She was able to clear half the village. I was surprised she was able to do that much." "Did she really do that much? Once we get her to a healer I want you to show me oK?" "Yes I will." They went upstairs and took Rhylie to a healer then Calder showed his brother and sister in law what she did. "Woah this is amazing. She is a lot stronger than we thought she would be by now. She is only 16 years old. Rose was 18 when she ended up this strong. I can't imagine how much stronger she will become in a month or 2." "I am going to take her back to the Centaur village after she is better. Then she will rest a few days and start training back up." Said Calder. "Yes I think that is a good Idea. Sister why don't you help the healer while Calder and I catch up ok?" "Yes brother."

Rhylie was still unconscious. Her aunt was in there to see if she can do anything to help. So they had her do a few things then they calmed her body down and she was breathing peacefully now.

After awhile Calder came into the healers place. "How is Rhylie doing?" "She will be fine. She will need some rest when she gets home." "Yes thank you. When will she wake up?" "That we don't know. She is relaxed now and her breathing is normal as well as her eyes." "Can I stay with her?" "Yes you can stay as long as you like." "Ok then I will stay here until she wakes up." Said Calder.

It had been 4 days and Calder had been by Rhylies side since then. It was noontime that day and Rhylie was starting to wake up. "Hmm. Daddy? Daddy." "Yes I'm here Rhylie. How are you feeling?" "My head hurts a little and my body aches." "You have been asleep for 4 days. Its normal to have aches." "Really? 4 Days? Its really that bad? Ow my head." "Wait here Rhylie I will get someone. Hello? We need a healer. She woke up." "Right away sir." Said one of the guards.

"Its good to see you awake Rhylie." "Thanks. My head hurts and body aches." "Yes it will for a few days." "Father told me I was asleep for 4 days." "Yes you were. You strained your body too much. It will be a painful ride home. We will have you rest here for 1 more day then head back ok?" I nodded. Father agreed. There was a knock at the door. (Knock Knock) "Come in." said my father. It was uncle that walked in. "Hello uncle." "Oh its good to see you finally awake Rhylie. Thank you uncle. I will be going back tomorrow." "I see. That is good. You need fresher air to feel better." "Father? Uncle? How much did I clear?" Then father explained. "You cleared half the village. We were shocked. It took your mother until she was 18 to be that strong." "Really? Nice. Then In a couple months I can try again." "Yes that is the plan Rhylie. Remember don't strain yourself like you did before ok?" said father. "Sorry. All I could think about were those people and now that I understand the song, I know why I always felt relaxed when I woke up." Then out of the blue my stomach growled. "Oh I guess I'm hungry. I haven't eaten for 4 days." "I've got it here." Said auntie. "Oh auntie. Hello. Is that porridge?" "Yes something light after you woke up." I ate my food then we visited awhile. The next day it was time to go back home.
