Chapter 10

I followed him outside the door, mentally warning myself not to give any snarky remark.

He pushed a door with the label 'PRINCIPAL' on it and motioned for me to enter, when we were both seated, he interlocked his fingers on the table, leaning forward.

"Why did you insult Mrs. Graham?"

"Who?" I asked although I had a fair idea who it was.

"Your Calculus teacher"

"I didn't insult her"

I picked up a paper weight and began to play with it.

He leaned forward some more and I smelt his citrus shampoo and coffee breath.

"So you're implying your teacher is lying?"

I dropped the paper weight and caught myself before I rolled my eyes.

"Not exactly"

An eyebrow went up.

"You don't know the whole story" I adjusted on the uncomfortable chair.

"A classmate whom I didn't know was her daughter called me a freak and Mrs. Graham didn't say shi- anything until I insulted the said classmate back"

"Mrs. Graham called me because she sent me to your office and you refused to come. Tell me why" although I shrugged, the calm underlying note of authority he possessed impressed me.

"Well my classmate called my mother a bitch, I returned the favour, got sent here and the classmate was pardoned"

It was his turn to sigh.

"This is your first time in this school and your offense is a backhanded self-defense where you ended up, unknowingly insulting your teache. Please next time you are insulted report to a teacher or to me, understood?"

"Yeah"

"You can go"

I almost collided with some dark haired boy when I rounded a corner but in his attempt to avoid me, he took a clumsy miscalculated step backwards and landed on his rear.

"I apologize, didn't see you" I speak.

We were the the only ones in the hallway. Slowly raising his eyes to meet mine - my throat dried.

The colour of his eyes startled me, amethyst. One eyeball had golden flecks was only the beautiful purplish colour, but both eyes were bloodshot and puffy.

"You alright?" I ask, purely out of concern and in hopes of showing the sincerity of my apology, I give him my hand to help him up. He slaps my hand away, his curly hair bouncing due to his movement and then -

"Fuck off" he rasps. I let out a scoff, retracing my steps back to Calculus class.

The class was full of tension and glares from Mrs. Graham and her spawn.

I shot out of my seat when the bell went off, scanning my schedule next class and as the devil may rejoice, it was History.

Elliot had French and rushed there while I found my way to the room that would be the source of my suffering.

Man, I hate History.

I always mixed up the dates although I have a very impressive retentive memory. Also a great sense of direction, I found my way to History class without any aid from the stupid ducks staring at me in the hallway.

I was lucky to find a seat at the back but not at the window like I wishedand guessed who walked in the second I sat down.

The rude arse from earlier and what was even better he chose to sit beside me.

I took out an empty binder from my bag and a pencil, ignoring the not-so-subtle looks he favoured me with while I doodled. I saw him take out a ridiculously pink coloured book from his bag along with an army of coloured pencils. This made me raise an eyebrow which he returned with a scowl.

The teacher ambled in just as the bell rang again though I expected I would be asked to introduce myself again but was grateful that didn't happen.

The lesson wasn't that bad because the teacher actually had a sense of humor and a dazzling smile that had a few girls swoon.

I had a free period and didn't know where to go so I strolled around until I found a music room to stay in, though it had little space due to the fact that it looked like a tornado had a time of it's life in it.

Something had a white sheet on it, lifting it, it was a couch, I made a sound of disbelief which a sneeze followed then I lowered myself on the couch.

Few minutes later I got bored, then groaned when I saw I still had forty minutes to spend wishing the day would end.

Then rude boy entered and like a second nature I glared at him and suppressed a smirk when he gulped and took a tiny step backwards.

"Are you lost mate?" I snap

"Uh, no... I um. H-Hi" he cringed immediately and I bit my tongue to stop myself from snapping at him again.

"I'm sorry for earlier. I was having a shitty day"

The OCD I had wasn't all that serious because my laziness helped to keep it in check so I had to correct him but possibly because we haven't exactly polite to each other since we met, he got offended when I said-

"The day had barely begun mate"

"There is no need to be rude I'm just apologizing"

I scoff.

"You call this rude? Why don't you take your apology, put it in a blender along with cement and heroin, roll them into a stick and shove it up your arsehole?"

I am ashamed.

Didn't ask, Golden.

Heat creapt to his cheeks and anger took over his features, then he stormed off.

Lunch came after Chemistry and Elliot dragged me to the cafeteria, a silent Riely in tow.

"You saw that video where she abused Liz right?"

"Redmond?" His dark brown eyes widened "you're on Instagram right?"

"Um.." He looked confused.

"Between Rosa and Rose, who's more friendly with the app?"

"Rose" Elliot answered instead.

"It's Rosa" Riely snapped.

I roll my eyes "which one of them has a pink and purple unicorn phone cover?"

"Rose"

"Rosa" they reply simultaneously.

"It's Rosa. Rose's phone is drowned in some make-up stuff" Riely snaps again.

"Oh yeah. That's true" Elliot turned to me "why are you asking?" And Riely nods.

I simply shrug and we enter the cafeteria.

Immediately gravitated towards the vending machine as nothing looked appetizing on the food menu.

Paying for four bags of chips and a strange looking soda with a picture of bitter lemons on it, I joined Riely and Elliot at their table and ignored them as the bickered.

I scroll through my contacts, the person picked up on the third ring.

"Hello?"

"J.J?" The person greeted me with colourful expletives.

"You promised to never call me again George. Do you want to get me killed?"

"I don't remember promising that"

"Jesus Christ"

"Thou shall not call the name of God in vain"

"What do you want?" He growls.

"Tap into Rosa's phone for me?"

"Who the fuck is Rosa?"

"Some girl that has a twin, goes to Emerson High in LA, California. The school is a couple of blocks from my house here".

A tired sigh and a couple of clicks later, a birth certificate is sent to my phone along with her phone number.

"Tap into the phone yourself and don't call me again"

Beep.

"Why are you after Rosa?" Riely asks.

"She spread a video where I threw Liz out of my house around.

"Why would you throw Liz out of your house? How did Liz get into your house?" Elliot asks.

"Her mom works for mine"

"What is she doing here?" I look up and see the rude boy.

The seats in the school cafeteria had booths at the edges and round tables in the middle, the spot beside me was empty as Riely and Elliot were seated beside each other.

Yay.

"Meet Georgia. Georgia, Tobias" Riely speaks. Finally the face has a name.

He says something inaudible and seats beside me, burying his face in his palm.

"How're you holding up man?" Elliot asks looking like a worried mother.

Tobias shrugs one shoulder and lights a cigarette in the cafeteria and finishes it within seconds the sighs when he realizes he doesn't have another one, then he pulls out a black leather book and a pen. My best guess, a diary.

My phone beeps and I smirk.

"I wish I had popcorn" I think out loud, tearing open a bag of chips and leaning on the wall.

"Why are you staring at Rosa with that creepy smirk on your face?" Tobias rasps while watching me suspiciously, his book open and tempting me to take a peek.

"Those cigarettes are going to kill you. Starting from your voice" I say instead and he scowls at me. "Watch her"

The three of them turn to the table and watch her in phone out of her bag and a horrified expression takes over her face when she sees the phone smoking and still ringing.

A loud pop causes the people at her table to jerk backwards and the cafeteria to fall silent.

I have always been a sucker for drama so I laugh, ignoring the fact that all eyes fall on me, I pick up my bag, with my snacks in it and climb the table.

"Rosa, my dear. Are you alright?" I ask, not bothering to hide my accent anymore. "You look awfully pale"

I jump down from the table and she flinches. I cover the distance between us, a meter separating us.

"The next time you-" I look around the cafeteria "-or anybody spread a rumor, a video or whatever crap around that concerns me, I won't be this merciful" I take a step towards her, enjoying her shocked expression.

I lower my voice so only her hears. "Just so you know, Rosa. I have a quite incriminating photograph of you and if you don't want me to ruin your life, you stay out of my way. Ok?"

She squares her shoulders and sneers at me.

"I'm not afraid of you"whispers

"You should be" I whisper back and she swallows.

I walk towards the cafeteria doors.

"Adios motherfuckers".
