Chapter 4: Ubayashiki-sama

(A/N: I forgot I burned the book, so from here on out there will be no more of the book.)

Quiet, with a scent of butterflies.

That's all I could hear or smell, I opened my eyes and I almost fainted. Everything was blurry, it was probably because I overused my Twelfth Form when I had no stamina left. If I knew I was going to be pierced, I wouldn't have had to use it. I tried getting up and jeez, my entire body hurt. It was like I was being stabbed by a thousand needles, then again, getting stabbed by a thousand needles would not be a good feeling. As I laid back down in the soft bed, the door opened.

"It seems you've woken up, how are you feeling?" the girl asked.

"There seems to be a thousand needles stabbing me and everything is blurry so I'm keeping my eyes closed. Thank you for tending to me but who are you?" I asked.

"I am Kocho Shinobu, please call me Shinobu, you are currently in the Butterfly Estate. Drink the medicine, it will help you feel better. It is also a painkiller so you won't hurt as much but don't move around too much. Now excuse me, I must tend to my research. By the way, Mitsuri-san says to visit her when you're better, she wants to thank you for your gratitude." She said as she left.

I opened my eyes to see what she looks like before she left, black hair with purple ends, a butterfly hairpin just like that other girl, and an aura of anger. Anger? Though she seems to be quite gentle. I drank the medicine and I've never tasted something so bitter, not even mother would feed me something like this. After drinking the medicine, I was able to get up. I went towards a mirror and I looked down at my body, I still seem to be wearing my same uniform but it seems to be more cleaner, bandages around my arms and stomach. It seems like I have a long way to go before taking down a Upper Demon.

"Tokan-sama! Tokan-sama! Ubayashiki-sama wishes to speak with you, please head to the Ubayashiki Estate! Don't worry about your vision!" The crow says as it places a seal on my forehead. It seems this seal allows the person to see but with better eyesight, though I rather have my own eyesight but this is fine. Though I'd prefer this than a blurry eyesight.

"Alright, alright. Start calling me Tokan-san, Tokan-sama really doesn't fit me. Lead the way since I don't know where it is located." I replied.

Looking around, the Butterfly Estate seems to be calm, a training room, a training backyard, and a scent of flowers at the throughout the estate. Trees, gardens, and a fence at the entrance. When I arrived at the Ubayashiki Estate, I couldn't help but be quite amazed. There was mansion with a porch bigger than my old home, buildings laid out left and right, a pond, and the ground seems to be expensive.

"I'm here Ubuyashiki-sama, did you wish to speak with me?" I said kneeling in front of the porch waiting for him to come out.

"Ah yes, you're here Tokan-san. Amane, could you let Tokan-san in please?" Ubayashiki-sama said. Calm and soothing voice, a voice that can calm a person by listening to it.

Amane or his wife, guided me inside revealing him and a room a few times larger than Sakonji-san's cabin.

"Please come sit Tokan-san, I apologize for calling you here when you're still healing. Are you alright? Have you injuries healed a bit?" He said. A voice filled with concern and worry, as if he was asking, "Are you okay?"

"Yes I am alright, Shinobu-san has given me medicine and has tended to my injuries though the wound on my stomach still needs to heal. My eyesight is still blurry but your condition seems to be worse than mine." I said.

"That's right, this is a curse placed by Muzan and for it to subside, Muzan must be slain. Though I want to ask you some questions, is that fine?" He replied.

"Sorry for my rudeness Ubayashiki-sama. I can't express my concern as my breath style has sealed away my emotions and yes? If I can answer the question that is within my knowledge then I will." I replied.

"Thank you Tokan-san. Your breath style, Frost Breathing, Sakonji-san has wrote me a letter about that. It seems you are the only one that can use it, are there any advantages or weaknesses for the breathing?" He asked.

"That is correct, only the Furoku family are able to use it due to living in cold areas for decades. Advantages, we are immune to the cold as it comforts us, we have faster reflexes than normal, and being able to hide my presence. Weaknesses, we gradually start losing our emotions and being unable to express as if it has been sealed away. Hot weather hinders our breathing but I am fine as I trained 2 years to get rid of the weakness." I replied.

"Thank you for the information Tokan-san. It seems the Furoku family is quite special as even I have never heard of them before, this is another key to defeating Muzan. How was the battle against upper demon 1? How strong was it?" He asked.

"The demon was strong, stronger than me. The upper demon uses Autumn Breathing, their speed seems to be faster than me but their strength seems to be on par with me. We both received almost received the same amount of damage but I was getting tired due to using my forms for a long time but the demon would regenerate and was able to keep going. Their regeneration was faster than the other demons." I said.

"I see, If you were to go back with injuries healed and face the Upper Demon 1 again, would you win?" He asked.

"No I wouldn't. I need to train my stamina since I was running out of breaths quick." I said.

"I see. Thank you for your information, I suggest resting since there may be more missions coming." He said.

"Yes, but could I make a request?" I asked.

"What is it?" He asked.

"Could you..."

".....then I shall in our next meeting."

(A/N: What do you guys think was the request?

I bowed and thanked him as I left.

As I was walking back to my bed in the Butterfly Estate, I saw the girl that was at the final selection training. She's training her breath by trying to blow up the gourd? Though she's only focusing on her lungs, it's not going to blow up like that. Guess I'll help.

"Hey girl from the final selection exam, what're you doing here? It's almost dusk, you should eat and rest." I said.

She flipped a coin before saying, "Training."

Coin Flipping? Indecisiveness? I can't tell since these seals don't allow me to see auras.

"You're doing your breathing wrong, you're only focusing on your lungs." I said.

She tilted her head in confusion and so I explained. Inhale and exhale, take deep breaths. Focus on bringing air through your nose and mouth, then bring the air to your throat. Feel the air traveling through and past your throat then bring it towards your lungs. By feeling and focusing on the air through your lungs, you can feel the air traveling through your left and right lungs, the structure of the lungs, the organs of your lungs. By repeating that, you are able to bring in and bring out more air each time. She was doing it while I was explaining, quite impressive. She was able to blow up the gourd in a few minutes.

"Thank you." She said and I nodded.

I had a feeling tomorrow was going to be a long day. I went to bed and closed my eyes, a calming night, the stars were pretty. It seems my organs are repairing themselves, I'll be healed by the morning. "Mother, you and I both know tomorrow will be a long day, I know I got these instincts from you. If I die, will I see you? If I live, would you be proud?" I said to myself. Will these cold eyes of mine change to something warm?"

That night, in my dream. I heard a voice saying, "Live my precious daughter, become strong, and never doubt yourself."

Then I woke up by screaming, "Tokan-san! Tokan-san! Head North-East to Mt. Natagumo to assist Kamado Tanjiro! Missing Demon Slayers!" My crow said.

It seems he knew that I was going to be healed, an impressive yet weak being. I put on my uniform and cleaned myself up before unsheathing my sword and wiped it. It was a habit when demon blood would get on it. I took off the tag and opened my eyes, everything looked better than before.

"These eyes of mine will never go blind again and shall perceive everything. Well then, shall we go." I said.

Somewhere in the Ubayashiki-sama

"Giyu and Shinobu, head to Mt. Natagumo. My children seems to have been slaughtered." Ubayashiki-sama said.

"As you wish!." Replied Giyu and Shinobu.

(A/N: Tokan develops a Sasuke eye obsession?)

Somewhere in in the sunset.

"Our daughter will see us again one day." said the mother.

"One day, but not anytime soon." said the father.

"Onii-San Strong!~" said the siblings.
